There's a bunch of fixes, and you need a gamepad for it. Pretty sure it even strongly recommends that on the store page.

And if you're dropping five grand on a machine, you're doing it wrong.

You know, i might be going a bit off topic here, But everything that can be said has been said.

But is anyone else just refreshing this page to see if the OP posted his specs? I'm curious.

(obligatory get DSfix and other mods mentioning here)

its been a while, i got it day 1 on the PS3. theres an area, i think call Blight Town, which slows the frame rate down to about 5FPS, has that been fixed? (incase i ever buy this for my PC before DS:2 is released)

Wasn't fixed while I was playing it on PC (around the time the game got ported over).

I never had problems with Blight Town on my PC, so I take it that its been fixed.

As far as the topic goes, there's not much I can really say that hasn't been said. There's a big ol' warning right on top of the buy button in steam. If you choose to ignore it, well...That's your own business.

Once you install all the fan made mods and fixes, the game is fine on PC with keyboard and mouse. I'd argue it even controls better than a controller but I am crazy like that.
Really? How did you lower the mouse sensitivity? I switched to a controller once I found that the slightest twitch of the mouse meant doing a 20-degree turn...
I used a 3rd party program but I don't recall which one I used offhand. I believe I found it on Dark Souls Nexus. The camera still sucked compared to a proper precise mouse driven one, but I got used to it.

I played the game near launch on PC and had no framerate issues in Blight Town even without DSFix (which I didn't install until I hit Quelaag). For reference, I'm running a system with A Core i5 2500k, a GTX 550Ti and 8GB of RAM.

To be fair, he could mean Canadian or Australian Dollars in which case, that isn't that much.
The Canadian dollar is 0.96 cents and has been about that much or more for the last number of years.

Should have went to the Steam forum for the game they have problems new users face as sticky threads at the top of the forum.

ok thanks, nice to have a frame of reference for specs

Do you still play it? Do many people cheat while invading?

After all the hype I bought it on steam a while ago. Tried PC/Keyboard and it was totally frustrating to play I could never get the controls straight. The res. fix was great but wow, what a poor excuse of a port. They could have put more time and effort into it definitely. Hope DS2 is much better on PC as I really want to get into these games.

the steam page even tells you to play it with a controller. why are you trying to play on a keyboard and mouse?

1. Go here: http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/topalltime/?adult=2
2. Download EVERYTHING.
3. Install EVERYTHING.
4. ???
5. Profit.

You can play it perfectly fine on PC with mouse and keyboard once you do that.

I don't play it too often, anymore, but I've only had one troublesome invader. I was in the Undead Burg with a new character and was invaded by a guy with very high-level gear. Apart from that, I'm only rarely invaded and it's usually a fair fight.

Sorry for the Necro, but a lot of people seemed infuriated by my "specs" so... yeah...
I don't understand why it is so unthinkable to have a decent PC. I have money and I like gaming. What's the problem?
Either way...

- Intel Core i7-3930K Six-Core $569
- Cooler Master HAF X - Full Tower Computer Case $159
- EVGA GeForce GTX690 4096MB - (two of them) $2000
- Thermaltake TPX-1475M Toughpower XT 1475W $300
- Corsair Hydro Series Exreme Liquid CPU Cooler H100i $119
- GSKILL Ripjaws X Series 16 gigs $98
- WD Caviar Black 2x2TB 320$
- Kingston HyperX 480GB SATA III 820$
+ Rest

After that, I guess you can add on all my razer gear, and my gunnars...
Total I probably spent a bit over 5500~6k USD (for those saying that I didn't spend US money...)

-----------------

To the non-trolls, thanks for the help, I ended up completely modding it, and was able to play it without having to use a controller :D

You have my utmost respect Sylvain.

If I even thought about spending that much on my PC, I would have keeled over and died.

£450 just for the processor...I'm getting palpitations just thing about it.

Urgh, I don't have a controller :/
I feel like wasting any more money on this game would be ridiculous at this point (-.-)
You'd think they would have big warnings before buying the game on steam :/

Lul wut?

Seems to me like you're whining about pissing a slightly small amount of money up the wall compared to the wad you blew building your PC in the first place.

Actually, to be honest, you come off as quite arrogant to state you're outraged at having payed hard earned cash for something in one sentence, then quite brazenly implying that you have money to burn in another.

OT congrats on finding a fix, I suppose.

Also, for the record, this:

$5000-$6000 does not equal a "decent PC". A decent PC can easily be made for a fraction of that price, hence many peoples surprise. Saying yours is "decent" compared to someone who, for instance, spent $1000 on theirs is the equivalent of comparing a perfectly functional, affordable family car to a Ferrari. They both get you from A to B, but more people probably consider you a mad eccentric tosser for driving the latter.

Sorry if this post comes across as inflammatory, I have no ill feelings toward you, but I think your comments are quite inconsiderate considering some people don't have the luxury to afford half of what you're able to splash out on.
