Darksiders was so... repetitive, Dante's Inferno wasn't any better but was good. I haven't tried Bayonetta but I personally think I'll prefer it out of the three NOT because its a female character but the game style.

Something else that must be said: Dante's Inferno is a gorgeous game. Not gorgeous in the style of "oooh, look at all the pretty colours", but gorgeous in the sheer "wow!" factor.

Over easter I think I would like to buy a game of the hack 'n' slash variety.
I dont have a PS3 otherwise i'd wait for God of War 3, as it stands it seems my choice is between those three.
So guys and girls, whihc do you think is the best value? Most fun?
I'd also appreciate any other hack 'n' slash, swordplay style games you guys like.
Begin the discussion!
It really comes down to what's your favorite color? With the exception of Darksiders ripping more off Zelda than the other two in your list rip off Devil May Cry, it all comes down to what you want your main character to look like. Hot abnormally long-legged girl? Confusedly dressed slayer of angels and demons? Guy with red-tatooed bare chest in biblical hell as opposed to Greek mythos hell?

They're all close enough and watered down enough where you won't be amazed by any, but none will be awful. The genre established by Devil May Cry is safe enough that unless a game is truly broken, you're going to have a pretty "regular" experience. So... just pick your favorite color.

Get ninja gaiden 1 and 2, they're prolly old enough that you can get both for the same ammount of money one of the newer ones would get you.
DMC series is teh same in terms of age/price, but as far as i know, only DMC4 is on the current console gen.

There is also anotehr option, Prototype, while it may be a sandbox game, i still find, that it reminds me of the hack'n slash genre a lot. Add free roaming (which is done very well) to the hack'n slash egnre and this is what you get.

In case you haev a wii, Madworld and no more heroes (1 and 2) are also avalible. They're both more comedic than the rest, but violent none the less.

Once you've played some of these older games, the 3 games you mentioned may have fallen in price.

I hardly ever buy console games at full price, theres just so many games, that there'll always be some older games i haven't played which are cheaper anywyas. And they aren't inferior just cause they're older, thay're on the same console, so it's made with the same technical limitations.

Bayonetta. Unless you're some kinda anti-Japanese maniac, that game's the best.

My review:

Darksiders is good, but utterly devoid of any originality, and with no replay value.

Dante's Inferno was...better than I expected. Probably the second best of the three, judging on the demo alone.
