And I really can't handle whiskey. I'm more of a scotch/rum/vodka kind of guy.
Im a scotch kind of guy as well. I just wrote "whisky" (without the "e" like in whiskey) because that's what the scots call it.

I deffinatly have those days when i'm like a glass of wine would be lovely about now, especially during my A Level exams, that damn psychology unit 5 and 6 exam, the most stressful units i've ever taken.
edit: ironically unit 5 had a bit about combating stress

Did not know that. But scotch is the shit. Three fingers of some Lagavulin, two ice cubes, and a nice cigar, and I'm good for an hour.

Yep. Though, not wanting to become an alcoholic at 18, I usually substitute the drink with a choclate bar. Usually. Some days are so shit I just need a beer...had a couple of those the last month. Yesterday for example. I wake up at 7:00 AM every morning, get ready for school, then I remember "oh, they closed off the one of two ways I can get to school, and it's the most convenient one by far too! Awesome! Have to ask dad to drive me 5-6 kilometres then!". I get to school, almost fall asleep in my law studies class and can't absorb any info (we have a test tomorrow..), second class I've luckily got off 'cause my teacher is in london, though I'm still struggling to stay awake. Then there's break time, which was the highlight. I get 70 minutes of break and I go buy lunch while talking to a newly aquired friend (though he's got Asbergers and that makes him amongst other things unpredictable). Third lesson I've got ateacher I'm not sure I learn anything from, fourth lesson we're finishing up on Ibsen's play "Ghosts", which in itself is awesome, then we get to overanalyzing it...not a BAD thing but still just "SIGH...fine". Not to mention I've been clumsy through that whole day. That shows when I (after a walk of 2-3 kilometres, trying to relax a bit) get home, I spill my soda on my desk, some hitting my keyboard. While a 12-year old /b/tard from Britain keeps bugging me on msn, and another guy in another chat (good guy really) keeps bugging me about Luca Turilli and how I should check out his works (which I happen to find "slightly" repetitive). Add to this that this (the day i'm referring to, yesterday) is the most sunny day we've had this year (to put that into perspective, we're in september). Oh and also my best friend was in a car crash wednesday. He's fine but that's one hell of a shock, and he's still a bit shook up. Then my dad starts nagging a bit (he's a decent guy though, he just came at the wrong time). In addition, he (dad) has brought his gf back here from Africa (she visited in the summer). She's nice and all, but goddamn annoying without meaning it. Cue the vodka she brought as a gift.

TL;DR: Tough day, had quite a few of them, and yes I've needed a drink.

Probably... I don't even know what alcohol does to a person...

My only real experience with alcohol involved 4 drinks that emptied my wallet and left me without even the slightest warm feeling or social buzz... I left the night poor, bored out of my mind and with no desire to try again.

I have never experienced the effects of alcohol in my life and don't think I'll start anytime soon, not having any money or desire to find out.

I'm not ruling out that the feeling of utter defeat may feel better with a drink, but it isn't something I can personally identify with.

Oh yeah. Haven't tried Lagavulin though, but I'll definetly check it out sometime. As for me I like a glass of Black Grouse (Famous Grouse's cooler brother), no ice and a nice cigar.

If you like scotch, do try Lagavulin, get the 15 year if you can, but that's getting pretty expensive. Johnny Walker Blue Label is another expensive good one.

stupid chemistry test.
As a graduate student finishing my Ph D. in chemistry, I feel your pain.

Nearly every day warrants a drink.
Thank you, I'm glad someone understands. lol. I'm going for a degree in pharmacy, so the chemistry is just on a ridiculous level!

Also, I've had days outside of school were I just need to drink, mainly due to my brother having a fiance that I'm fairly certain in the daughter of satan.

Up 'till about 6 months ago I didn't drink (i'm a 20 year old University student so it was not from lack of opportunities). Then one day I had spent hours laying a gravel drive that had washed away and I just said "Fuck it", went to the Pub, and had a nice pint of Black Sheep. Cracking.
