Your loss, Secret Wars is one of the best event comics that has ever been written.jademunky said:Dammit, I hate it when comics do this and feel the need to do that whole continuity adjustment thing. I lost interest in marvel comics after the most recent secret war and have not read any post-flashpoint DC comics.
He died yesterday.jademunky said:Are they really looking to try to kill off Superman again? No, just no. DC, you do not get to do that. Nobody thinks you will keep that promise, you blew your load in that one already and we will not be fooled again that you mean it this time.
Oh I did read Secret Wars, I just never read anything else after it. The story itself was.....ok. Certainly fun although I was probably not supposed to be rooting for Dr. Doom (Seriously, he saved reality!). Mostly I just resent the crossover for interrupting the story I was invested in, specifically Spider-man (Whom, I might add, was barely in the main secret wars story at all).Overhead said:Your loss, Secret Wars is one of the best event comics that has ever been written.
It's not some random flash in the pan event like most but can be considered something that has been built up to for 100 or so issues of Fantastic Four, FF, Avengers and New Avenger all done by Hickman, one of the best comic writers around today. Even the tie-ins are great.
Also it didn't really adjust continuity at all apart from bringing a few ultimate universe characters over as that line was ending. It was more like an Age of Apocalypse deal where it shows a dystopian alternate reality and then the end of the event reverts everything back.
There's a few small things it also did. Matt Murdock's identity became hidden again (it's not clear whether that was secret war or something else) and Old Man Logan is floating around as well.Captain Marvelous said:Did Secret War do anything other than get rid of the Ultimate line and bring Miles Morales over to 616?jademunky said:Dammit, I hate it when comics do this and feel the need to do that whole continuity adjustment thing. I didn't finish it, but you're in for a treat with No Mans Land.JUMBO PALACE said:I'm glad I don't have to deal with this for awhile. I got into comics not that long ago and am just focusing on some of Batman's classics right now. I'm knee deep in Morrison's run and am gonna hit Battle for the Cowl before moving on with Dick and Damian. After that probably Knightfall and No Man's Land. It's just easier to read the old trades than try to follow what's going on now.
Other books I've read...
-Year One
-DKR
-Killing Joke
-Hush
-New 52 up until Zero Year
-Morrison up to Death of Bruce Wayne
-Final Crisis + RIP missing chapters

Didio. Didio never changes.Overhead said:This is bad.
For one, Watchmen does not mesh well with a traditional comics universe.
For two, the insinuations being made and the blame cast at Watchmen seem to miss the point of Watchmen as well as avoiding the fact that the people casting the blame at Watchmen for the direction of DC comics (like Didio and Johns) are the people who are actually responsible for that direction - not a 30 year old comic.
For three, the people responsible for this new shake-up and direction are the same people responsible for the last several shake-ups and new directions. I don't really have much faith that this is the time they'll get it right. It's like sticking in an abusive relationship because this time they've changed.
Essentially, the prelude involves the beyonders causing the destruction of the multiverse with all the world's heroes and governments being powerless to stop it. Doom, Dr. Strange and molecule man make one last ditch effort to stop the multiversepocalypse and are partially successful. They are able to steal the power of the beyonders and make a patch work world with Doom as it's God-Emperor (and this is just the setup for the actual story).minkus_draconus said:jademunky said:Oh I did read Secret Wars, I just never read anything else after it. Wait, they did secret wars again and Doom came out on top again? What was the fatal flaw of his plan that was his undoing?
There's an actual Superboy now, so probably not.Angelblaze said:So does this mean TimKon is still a thing?!
