FFS, people. As long as you keep pretending being gay is a big deal, the longer people will think it is. No one cares. Be gay. Be straight. Be bi. Be nonsexual. I don't care. It's real cute and all how you think making one of your characters gay is some big deal, but it's not. Go away. Your little stunt is a failure and you're shallow attempt at being edgy is about as awesome as a wet sandwich.

Want one of your characters to be gay? Fine. Go ahead. But why the fuck are you telling everyone like it matters? I'll wait for you to out some heroes as hetero, too. Oh, you won't do that? Didn't think so.

God I hate this crap.

Stop being disingenuous. Homosexuality is a hot button issue right now whether you admit it or not. Making one of your flagship characters homosexual or even bisexual sends out a very loud and important message.

These are comic book heroes

love interests are for

-villain bait
-dying for drama
-revealing secret identities to

where does sexuality come in?

At least I can rest comfortably knowing that whatever stupid decision DiDio makes will be undone the next time they revise continuity.

I feel like we could see a cop-out when it's discovered that Green Lantern is a homosexual...by Green Lantern I of course am referring to either Guy Gardener or, Kyle Rayner. In all seriousness though I don't know if sex really belongs in the comics to begin with. Yes it sells more issues but you can't have your heroes chose to get together and start a family when there is evil to defeat or, worlds to destroy. Although it would be funny to see some ant-man style physical abuse between a same-sex couple...technically I think this has already happened though when Tony Stark got into an abusive relationship with an automated Iron Man suit.

It shouldn't matter, but, right now, IT FUCKING DOES! Gay rights are a hot-button issue. If you have a problem with people being ecstatic over this, take it up with overwhelming amount of "Moral Orel's" out there who oppress us, and make us love ALL of our victories.
See my previous post:
They are not selling, "Hero has a secret that could change his life."
They are selling, "Guess which one is gay."

The difference: They're not selling the idea of homosexual acceptance in comic books, they're selling comic books. It is nothing more than an attention grab.

Does it really matter? The act in itself is just... good. That's it, it's just good. I know it's a stunt, but I can think of far worse.
I think it kind of does because its coming from a place where it seems they could care less about gay rights and more about being able to cause enough of a stir to sell more comics. They're essentially jumping on a bandwagon for the benefit of their own selves. If anything it comes off as something done in rather poor taste. But, hey, that's just me.

Realisticly the only two people I see right now that it can be are Martian Manhunter or Green Arrow. Any other of the big characters would require a serious reworking, even moreso than the current 52 story have done. Manhunter's new background hasn't been revealed yet so there's plenty to work with.

This seems like just a "political" move on DC's part.

That said, it has to be batman, only thing that explains robing. Plus it could validate all those alfred robin fan fictions.

The problem is that they should just make character, and not make it so huge. The importaint homosexual characters in comics currently are importaint because they were great characters that happened to be homosexual. Not because they were thrust on the readers as LOOK AT THE GAYS!!!

The only one of these freaks I slightly recognize is superman and batman, and sort of aqua man.

Superman seems to be some guy who skipped school on the day everyone learned how to die, and has a crippling fear of translucent green rocks.

Batman is some furry who prefers to be like a bat, to the extent that he has an arsenal with shitty bat puns.

Aquaman's a mermai- wait, merman?

Back to the topic, I don't see why it would be made as such a big deal, someone's homosexual so what? I don't know any but it's not a big deal. If i went on top of a building with a megaphone and screamed "I am a heterosexual and proud!", people would just tell me to fuck off, not turn it into this.

If I were homosexual, I'd find it insulting how I'm treated like I come from Mars.
