So tomorrow, or today depending upon what part of the world you are from, is the release of DC Universe Online.

For those of you unfamiliar with the title, it is the new MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment which uses the DC Comic franchises' characters, lore and so forth.

It has its unique selling points: it is supposedly more action orientated than its competitors (read; World of Warcraft) and has a killer license too.

So the question is, do you care? Are you going to play? Are you secretly hoping for it to crash and burn to deal yet another blow to the thus far relatively poor track record of SOE? Or do you hope or think it can even begin to compete with Blizzard's behemoth?

Personal opinions: I love DC comics, and even though this game will undoubtedly treat the storylines I know and love with less respect than they deserve, I still get all giddy at the idea of making a metahuman crime fighter and going toe to toe, or standing side by side, with others in an RPG scenario. The fact that some of my favourite characters will be serving as the backdrop for all this is simply a bonus. I hope it gets the support it deserves, and I hope I can stay interested in an MMO for longer than a few weeks. I never got past the level 30 mark in World of Warcraft, as there was too much grind and I never managed to get into the social side of it. I hope DCU Online will be different.

And on top of this, there is simply not enough RPG's that make use of the super-hero setting or backdrop. This scratches that itch at least.

EDIT: And if you are playing, lets talk specs, mentors, servers etc. I am British, so I can only hope I will be able to subscribe and jump on the American servers after work tomorrow. If not, I have to wait till Friday. : /

I am homie. I played City of Heroes and had a ggood bit of fun with it.

I'll be studying under Wonder Woman of course. She's my homegirl.

And I doubt it'll be a WoW killer. Star Wars:ToR might do it, but not this.

Eeeeeehhhhh. Not much of a MMORPG guy, and it seems like the combination of the two nerdiest things ever: WoW and Superman. I'm normally cool with it, but.... eeehhhh.

Look pretty interesting. I love the concept but with my WoW subscription still current I'm not sure if I can play 2 MMO's at once? What's the monthly fee gonna be for this?

How do you plan to spec?

And good to hear you are going Hero, supposedly, the beta was heavily weighted towards the villains. I should be playing a meta at first, so will probably be under Superman's tutelage.

I played the beta a bit and personally, I didn't like it, but then again I didn't really get a chance to really sink some time into it. I think I got to level 5, didn't really enjoy my time there then went on vacation for christmas. I intended to give it another chance but it was over by the time I got back. So no, I'm not getting it. Also, there's other games I want. I would also be way more excited if there was a Marvel MMO, that would be sweet.

DC > Marvel. Identity Crisis > Civil War. It is all personal preference of course, but my personal preference is more important.

Wow it looks pretty decent, and $15 is good. Might have to get it off Steam though coz theres no way I'm paying 100 bucks for it when its basically half that on there.

I haven't decided on specs yet. But I always go hero first. Being a villians fun and all, but my first character must be a hero!

If there is multiple characters allowed like on the beta that didn't seem to at least up to 8(at least 6) I've got names for a character for each Mentor/Powerset ready to go my Main/1st is gonna be a Firey/speedster Hero under Batman vs. An Icy/Acrobatic Villian by Lex Luthor.

Yes very excited in fact, so much that I made a user group! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/DC-Universe-Online] Although it sucks that I have to wait for the 20th. It was supposed to be a world wide release.

I would be more excited for the game if I got to play as a Green Lantern. I'm still excited for the game though. I don't get it until the 20th, damn you Australia.

Meh, I'll pick it up for maybe a month or two. Its just that the last MMO I got excited over (Champions Online) kinda bored me to death.

What are you talking about?
On steam it says it comes out tomorrow.

OT: Yes I am excited for this game, ever since I heard about it halfway through last year

EB Games and JB HiFi are saying next week on the 20th. Steam is US based so maybe we can get it through there early?

My consoles can't go Online due to some limitations, so no. Not to mention, I don't care to pay a monthly fee to play a game I spent around 60-70$ to get.

God I hope so.
If I find out tomorrow that I have to wait like another week I am going to kill someone.
But I pre-ordered it on steam and it says it's available
