Yeah - started playing this last night - already feels better than Champions Online, which I never did get truly into.

Is there regional servers? Had my client set to English (US) to start with, switched to English (UK) after a client crash, and seemed to be playing with a lot of people in the same time zone.

I'mma villain and enjoying it so far. Level 6 tech/rifle/flying gal.

I played it when it first came out, but the monthly fee didn't justify the game for me, but is the game worth it now that it's F2P? Oh hell yes, my character who is essentially Black Mask in a suit flies once more!

I liked City of Heroes and Champions Online and this looks better than both of those.
Unfortunately, it's not.

It's better than CO, even if the costume bit is Way less.

And it feels awesome to begin with.

But you can level to 30 in a few days and then the grind like no-other kicks in.

Fun to play for a bit, not a long lasting game by any stretch.

And City of Heroes/Villains is now free: so why bother settling for the less of the two?

I tried City of Heroes, but the graphics just got too muddy in many places for me to make out what was going on, that's always a turn off for me.

I tried this game around my friends house with his levelled up character, it didn't seem fun to me. I then tried the demo, and it still didn't seem fun to me.

The combat seemed very dull too, I imagine it gets better over time when you unlock more spells/ abilities, but I'm not willing to sink time into that.

Anything new besides the F2P since last year?
My thoughts exactly. I played the beta way back when and although the initial glow was bright it quickly fizzled out.

The action-oriented combat is refreshing compared to the "stand around auto-attacking while waiting for skill cooldowns" crap in normal MMOs, which I can't stand, but at the same time it's also disappointingly lacking in depth compared to the combat in Vindictus and feels kind of repetitive and very loose. There is a lot more content than Vindictus has, though, and I can at least convince other people I know to play it, so maybe that'll help. Too soon to tell.

Did you get to Frostfire's lair?

And in CoX, simply fighting going to the nightclub can be awesome.
DCUO, even being in the Watchtower feels dull.

It tries so hard, but in the end, CoX is just more fun, better costumes and easier to forge your own way.

DCUO just makes you feel like "nearly-Batman", in his second hand costume, who isn't as good. Until it makes you Batman, and then he gets butchered by the shlubs playing Bane or Joker.

It just feels like you're trying to catch up to a cardboard cut-out.

Positron, Ghost Widow or Ms Liberty all have way more personality than any of the DC 'verse.

I agree, I've played it on PC and am currently downloading it on PS3.
I wish I could make a group as a f2p member because my friend always loses me whenever I use superspeed...

Omg, the game so much fun, just traveling about is fun, picking the acrobatics movement and being able to climb, hover for a bit, and jump like crazy is a blast. Not to mention the real-time combat being lots of fun too.

For discussion value: Now that it is f2p, are you going to play it? If you have already, what do you like about it?

Also if anyone is a Hero, PVE, and on US servers want to play? My psn is Korten12 and ingame name is Korten in Gotham.
18Gb is WAY too large for a DL. If it was offered in pieces that I could download over the course fo several months maybe I'd pick it up...
Technically it's 14 gigs and with most of the Korean/Chinese MMO's going live now being 4-6 years old and still weighting in at 6-8gig, that's seems almost small.

I considered it for a few seconds, but their site was down so I couldn't be arsed.
Might give it a try once I'm done with Dark Souls, Skyrim, Assassins Creed: Revelations, Uncharted 3(Damn you, November!) and am a bit fed up with LOTRO.

Yeah it is easier when you can't be arsed to play any of the new games this year. The only game I really have planned to buy is Mass Effect 3 and it doesn't come out until march.

Eh, I tried DCUO in beta. I threw up my hands during character creation when I saw how limited it was compared to CoX and CO.

Then I tried it again after cooling my heels, and gave up after the tutorial after noticing just how damn button mashy it was. Phantasy Star Online did the whole online action RPG thing better ten years prior.

Long story short: There is a reason why this game has gone F2P in less than a year from its launch.

Aye. Normally I wait a year before I buy new games, so I'll get them at half the price, but I decided about a month ago to stop buying every cheap game there is and only go after those that I'm actually intrested in. :)

It's actually pretty great finally being able to participate in all the threads concerning new releases!
