Well, it has to be a torso of -something- at the end of the day.

Male, female, buff, buxom, does it really?

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a strange item, but, it being male, or female, doesn't make a difference in this.
This is essentially my position.
Shouldn't one be shocked that it's a person hacked/chewed asunder rather than what kind of a person it was?

I'd probably garner that they chose a well endowed female at the end of the day to appeal to the bulk of their audience (and the fact that when you think of "island", visages of aesthetically appealing people in swimsuits/bikinis are immediate), but I don't really see the misogyny of it. I see a mutilated torso.

Fucking dumb is what it is.
Like, if I'm getting a collectible thing, I want to show it off. Look flashy.

I wouldn't let that in my house if you paid me.
Well, maybe if you paid me. If I could throw it out afterwards.

That is just downright disgraceful.

That is the most disturbing thing i've ever seen.
I agree it looks like it has breast implants. It looks too unnatural :(

I know the irony complaining about silicone in a torso statue.

Could you please quote my whole post next time, I did go on to explain that I don't feel it is degrading or sexual and what I felt it was actually trying to do.
Why on earth? It's not like what I quoted was horribly out of context or cast you in a villainous light. We have the ability to selectively quote for a reason. Very rarely do I want to slog through an entire post and respond to every possible talking point. I don't even do that with emails from my friends.

Your post is still there, for everyone to read, if they feel a refinement of your position is necessary.
I didn't want you to address every single little tiny point, I wanted you to perhaps just recognize it as a whole instead.

Your response of "well I think there is an argument to be made for it" when I have also gone some way to trying to argue against it just irritated me very slightly because it came across that you hadn't bothered to read it and had merely snipped off that line.
I'm not sure since when a 4 line paragraph has come across as a 'slog', when the two points to comment on are "I don't think it could be argued as misogynistic" and "this is what I think it actually is" (more or less). Nor am I really sure why you'd start a discussion if actually attempting to discuss various points isn't what you want.

To be honest I'm just going to stop with you and this now, I am tired and not fabulous at expressing myself well at the best of times. My deepest apologies.

It's not misogynistic unless they hate women. Context matters. I think they went with a female torso because it's more disturbing than a male torso. This is just stupid. And quite frankly, it's disturbing. I don't want something like that anywhere near me. What would you think of someone who has something like that in their home?

RPS and the RPS commentators call just about everything misogynistic... That said they might actually have a case here.

Whatever it is however it's also just plain old fashioned disgusting and gross. Eww, why would anyone want to own that?

Hold on to it so you can sell it later. They be into strange things in Germany.

But getting it implies that I might actually want to play the game.
That alone seems like a big enough diversion to never get it.

Misogynistic? Doubtful. There doesn't seem to be any hatred behind it or that it's specifically targeted against women.
Stupid? Oh dear GOD yes! The thing looks friggin hideous and I can't think of any sane person who'd actually want it as a decoration.

Do you get the feeling we're seemingly the only people here not taking this seriously?

I wish people would look up misogyny in a dictionary before throwing it around on anything they find distasteful.

Honestly, I think it's fucking weird. A well-endowed female figure with bloody bite marks and ripped flesh on it? Am I supposed to be disgusted? Are they expecting me to be turned on? I mean what the fuck is it other than stupid shit that doesn't need to exist.

The amount that I care is so monumentally small that it rivals on dwarfing the infinitesimal. This seriously isn't even an issue, why should I even bother wasting 30 more seconds of my mental capacity on this?

I think the statue is a clue. Notice how the boobs are totally unaffected by the zombie attack. Also given the woman's waste size its unlikely they are real. I think deep silver is trying to say the silicone implants are to zombies what garlic is to vampires. In other words, you will be playing the heroine Heidi Montag in the next game.

It's not like the bikini clad super models will be spared in a zombie apocalypse so it's just stupid, but I don't think much of Dead Island anyway so I don't care. Gore in general is never enough to sell me on a series so this adds and takes away nothing. I'm sure goreporn fans will love it though...

EDIT: And there is no way on earth they didn't see this coming, not after the hub bub last year over sexism in video games with Lara Croft and Hitman trailers controversy is exactly what they want with this. So again I'm more offended how blatant marketing it is then the statue itself.

Why's it sexist? Because it depicts a woman in a bikini? Big fucking woop. Quite frankly if that's enough to offend you then I think you're a massive, frothing moron*, and I can say that without fear of reprisal because you're presumably going to have a rage induced heart attack any minute now, because depictions of women far more overtly sexualised than this are freaking everywhere.

It's just a stupid bit of horror memorabilia. If you don't like it, fair enough, but be aware that there are people with morbid senses of humour that will find this funny or just quirky or whatever and want it, and you saying 'NO, BAN IT' is a therefore a dick move.

Cries of misogyny seem a bit pointless, when this frankly says nothing about women whatsoever. It's only sexualised in that it has boobs, which is kinda par for the course in depictions of women, just saying...

[sub]*Sorry to be so harsh in that bit, I'm being hyperbolic. You're probably not a complete moron.[/sub]

I think the thing is absolutely horrifying.

I have not the faintest idea which idiot ever thought it was a smart idea to include something that's that disgustingly horrible as a collector's item for a horror game.

God... people might be getting the totally wrong idea about the type of feelings that specific genre is attempting to elicit.

I don't like softcore mixed with violence. When I want to play games, I'll play games. When I want to watch porn, I'll watch porn. Why does everything have to have a pair of boobs on it.

What the over blown political correctness fuck slush?

Is it Tasteless? For fuckin sure. Is it Tacky? You goddamn betcha... is it sexist/misogynistic? My sweet mother of fuck no.

Guess what? Women wear bikinis. In a zombie game, set on a resort island, there would be a lot of them, and zombies would eat them.

Why isn't it male? Because having the Union jack flag on it probably has some meaning, and there isn't really a good way to get that onto a male bust. Men typically, don't wear bikinis.

I love it. Being a fan of 80's slasher films, the people who designed this statue get them. It's a throwback in a way to the days of non-gimmicky straight up slasher horror.

Seriously people, get over this overblown PC bullshit, and grow the fuck up. People today are way too easily offended and need some thicker skin.

Seriously, in this day and age, a guy even commenting on what he finds attractive is jumped on as misogynistic. It makes no sense.

Gah angry at this. Stop ranting in 3, 2, 1....
