I seriously wish people would stop complaining. It's a freakin throw-in figure in a videogame box for chrissakes! If you don't like it, don't buy it, don't look at it... and make sure you hide from everything else that might insult you in everyday life. Why don't you try accepting that people are different and like different things. So what if the developers figured a pair of tits would appeal to their audience? If that is what their audience wants, then so be it. By no means should Deep Silver be apologizing and letting a small group of people that are freaking out influence their commercial and creative decisions like this.

The internet has made it waaay to easy for people to ***** and moan about stuff like this. It's almost like there is this group of people hawking the news for stuff to complain about. Back in the day you had to make an effort to make your voice heard, which made you focus on the things that REALLY mattered.

I could choose to be offended when I take a walk in the park as well, surely the size of the penis on that statue is not representative of us mere mortals

That is just downright disgraceful.

That is the most disturbing thing i've ever seen.

I mean, what woman in her right mind would wear a Union Jack bikini?

I know us English folk usually feel like tits but come on.
I tells you, it's part of the americans master plan. I mean, no arms and no head? It's threat towards the queen! They want all brittish dead!

Sexist and stupid. To be honest, they probably did it on purpose to draw attention to the game with controversy.
Doesn't make it not sexist and stupid though.

And it's pretty piss-poor designed too.
Clearly they just went TITTAYS! and went with that.
Badly made tittays.

That is what offends me the most.

Heck i love horror movies can not pass up a good slasher or zombie movie. If it was thrown in with a zombie movie (male or female torso) I would buy it in an instant(i also think there would be so much less outcry from the movie community). Though although i do not care about dead island at all i would almost buy it just to annoy all the complainers out there. To bad my regular webshop doesn´t have it in pre/order >.<

Tasteless and idiotic as all hell. I'm not certain about whether or not it's misogynistic, but I am definitely sure it's the former two.

I get what they're trying to do here and, like some others here I feel that a) it'd get less flak if it was a male torso with a Union Jack Necklace and b) The film community would have far less of a problem with this thing on a whole necause they stopped caring about the "well being of the image of the film industry" long ago.

It's objectifying taken to it's most extreme
That's actually basically the opposite of what it's doing. It's obviously not meant to titillate, it's meant to shock and disgust. Which it does, hence why people are getting so het up about it. It's taking your usual sexy imagery and parodying it by making it er... un-sexy.

The whole anti-sexism thing was against female characters all being cardboard stereotypes or pure eye candy. This thing doesn't work as eye candy and it has no personality on account of being dead, so it isn't a cardboard stereotype either.

It's only sexist when the issue is about women, it's always objectification when there is a female involved, and whenever any harm comes to a woman it's always out of misogyny.

I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, that's plate of severed rubber dicks right there. But there's no titties, so of course nobody's offended.
Case in point, thank you :)

It's low quality, tacky, puerile crap. Just like the vast majority of "Collector's" Editions out there.

I think it was a bit naive of them or it was a shock thing they hoped would generate buzz, Riptide seems like a quick and cheap semi sequel so this controversy has people talking about the game.
In my opinion, the statue is dumb and in poor taste, it doesn't offend me and I don't mind it being sold but it's not for me, kinda like Dead Island.

Its not misogynistic. Or sexist either.

But it sure is stupid, and cheaply made. Until they mentioned it on their apology, I didn't realize it was meant to be ZOMBIE torso. Maybe the "zombie bait" tag, or the fact it doesn't look rotten confused me, but it doesn't even seem to be referential to the game at all. At first, I though it just looked like a part of a mannequin.

It's not exactly misogynistic but it is a realy huge misjudgment on Deep Silver's part. DS obviously created this bust thinking it would appeal to their fan base. But did they think their fan base was made up of psychos? I would never even consider owning such a thing , imagine trying to explain or justify that to your Grandmother if she ever seen it!

I explained she walked into the wrong room. People that are old enough to buy it have no reason to explain things like that. I am not explaining why i own it just as i do not explain i own and read yaoi , have a poster of a halfnude girl getting groped by another girl (shirow masamune poster) or the alchemy gothic poster where a women is standing in front of a mirror that only shows her skeleton.

Just because I may be old enough to purchase something like that doesn't mean I don't have to justify said purchase. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of my family wouldn't appeciate seeing a bloody, mutilated corpse sitting atop my desk everytime they came in to my room.

If i like it i would buy it. If someone else can not deal with my taste it is their problem not mine.
I do not have to justify my own taste to anyone but myself.

No I don't think it's misogynistic, but that's the only positive thing I can say about it. It's ugly and stupid to use my refined vocabulary.

Sure, if you live alone or with people that aren't offended by the things you own, that's fine, otherwise that's a very selfish stance to take. When I buy things I have to take into account I have younger siblings, it's not exactly appropriate for my to own things like "a poster of a halfnude girl getting groped by another girl" when I live under the same roof as my very young sister, is it?

You, sir, win the thread. *salute*

As a British woman, I would like to express my outrage at the inaccurate way this stature portrays my countrywomen.

It's just a small point, but some people do seem to like softcore mixed with violence. Notice how Pirana 3D got a sequel (called Pirana 3DD, in case the point wasn't clear enough).

Personally, not my thing. But the statue is quite fun in a B-movie horror sort of way.

Uggghhh.

You have no idea how tired I'm getting of every picture of any part of a woman not covered by layers of clothing being labeled as "sexist," or "misogynistic" (especially when pictures of any part of a man is not considered misandrist, a word that Chrome apparently doesn't recognize, because apparently misandry isn't a real thing or something). Jesus H. Fucking Christ people, it's a female torso. That is what a female torso looks like. Unless you're suggesting the fact that boobs exist sexist (and from experience, the average Escapist user probably would argue that), I don't see how a simple depiction of something - even if it is covered in blood - can be considered sexist. Unless you're insane.

CAPCHTA: basket case

How befitting.
