I remember a 350-pound-guy telling me that when he had to undergo a CT scan for his cancer diagnosis, he didn't fit onto the regular CT machine at the local hospital, so he had to use one designed for horses at the veterinary clinic (to be fair, the guy was not just fat, but also generally a pretty big person).
This also happened in Austria, the same country as in the original story, so maybe our medical facilities just aren't cut out for this new obesity craze that's been sweeping the country from across the Atlantic.
On a sidenote, this would be where my favorite corpse disposal method really shines: The Tibetan sky burial: You take the naked corpse, slice up the flesh a bit, wait for vultures to pick the bones clean, chop up the bones to free up the marrow, wait for the vultures to eat that, and voilá - your edible biomass has been poetically returned to the circle of life.
