You know, I can't recall a single time in Dead Rising 1 or 2, where I stopped grinding up zombies with a lawn mower to say "Boy, I wish these zombies didn't look like clones."

Because, last a checked, a headless zombie is still a headless zombies.

No need to be a dick about it, they're referring to the enemies being bland and uninteresting, not the game or the character.
Seriously take a look at your own screenshots, the zombies themselves all just end up blending together.
Firstly, if I came across as a dick, my apologies.

Secondly, it's not as if the zombies were ever particularly vibrant and colorful. The only brightly-colored enemy I can even recall were those crazy cultists. Maybe the Vegas zombies were less dull, but for the greater majority, the most vibrant thing you'd see is the blood and Lego masks you put on the zombies.

i hate to say it but ...making a point FAIL!
See above.

No, the second paragraph.

And don't tell me you hated saying it. I can tell by the all-caps "fail" that you just loved it (please note this is not a genuine remark).

By the way, in case you missed that second to last bit in my original post, I stated I know how dull the overall palette looks. It's very apparent in the zombies' design.

So, pointing out the "failing" point-making fail!

If you take into account my pointing out the point you were pointlessly pointing to...

At any rate, complaining about the lack of vibrancy in the zombies (no, not you, that other guy) comes across to me as just looking for things to complain about. Sure, they're more dull than before. But that's besides the point. If anything, it's giving more room for the real zany parts of the game to stand out.

Like this guy said.

You know, the wacky parts probably wouldn't stand out as much if the colour palette was more vibrant so I think they're actually on the right track. This is where Saints Row The Third went overboard. Everything wacky was just ordinary.

OT: While this is neat an all I can't help but thinking that I would never notice if two zombies are the same or not. Oh well, at least you won't see two identical guys standing next to each other.

Oh, most certainly
[The blandest of the bland]
[Like unsweetened cardboard flakes from a hearty bowl of Raisin Bland]
[Even more blandtastic]
Really though, the overall color palette may not be very vibrant, but what stands out are the more wacky parts of the game and I think that's just fine.

More on topic, I really hope this doesn't remain an Xbox One exclusive for long.
...

You sure showed them! They'll have to retreat from their cornfield out of sheer shame after that thrashing. Beat the straw right out of their smug lifeless potato-sack face, you did!...

((I'm sorry, I know a couple have already pulled you up on it, but I really couldn't just let that drop; what on earth possessed you to so smugly 'rebut' a completely different claim to the message you were quoting, and then follow it up by fully agreeing with the point they were actually making? [genuinely asking].
Did you have those images saved up somewhere and just got over-excited at a chance to show them off? Or did you just misread what they were saying at first and just decide to leave it how it was anyway?))

As for the original topic:
Cool to see these sorts of systems getting used. I don't own any of the dead rising games cause they never really caught my fancy, but left 4 dead is a zombie game that also amped up it's zombie-randomisation for the sequel(and no doubt will do the same come next sequel).

It terms of videogames, procedural content is one area i find to actually be really interesting(maybe growing up with diablo and it's randomised dungeons plays a part in it :p), I consider it really to be the next step in... graphics? games? computing as a whole?... well, all of them I guess. Procedural content is the perfect digital contextualisation for that old saying 'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime'.

Well, that's really nice, actually. I don't care how little you'll tend to notice each individual zombie, it'll make a huge difference not seeing entire packs of the exact same zombie girl roaming about.

It's not really all that amazing, but I'm glad they're doing it.

What can I say? Smug begets smug.

On a more serious note, I had hoped that by saying starting off the real conversation bit with "Really though" (which I had hoped would imply the previous statements were less than genuine) that one would see that I wasn't being "real" up to that point. Obviously it hadn't worked, and I've apologized for the insincere smugness.

YES! YES! YES!

YOU GOT ME! i was planning this all along and yes i LOVED saying it. i loved it so much that i made love to my keyboard afterwards. IT WAS GLORIOUS!

anyways you responded to this:

Detail like this is impressive, but ultimately wasted when the enemies come in large seething hordes;

by posting pictures of the exact thing it said with the addition that its ok because you can focus more on the whacky stuff i.e. your avatar.

when its not ok, really. you dont have to make everything monotone colored in order to make the whacky stuff more obvious or "stand out".(only if you having a hard time finding things or tend to get too distracted by brightly colored stuff like someone with an attention deficit disorder)

the scenery is also important. unless you like to walk around the most boring colored levels with the most boring colored enemy type that blend into each other.

if so, i recommend Bientot l ete Extravagant

See above. At least in regards to my original post.

Now, I do agree that the environments are important, the color scheme is, in my opinion, almost entirely dependant on the overall theme. With all the antics you can get up to in the gritty, "realistic" environments, I get the feeling the sort of entertainment is in the same vein as photoshopping Gary Busey's face onto Kate Winslet for every scene in The Titanic. Yes, the backdrop is serious and in no way reflects the silliness of the other games, but where the Dead Rising spirit comes through is in what the player does. And you're not limited to imposing one beautiful face onto another, you can also give DiCaprio a monobrow, make that band play, instead of a classical piece, jazz so smooth it'll have everyone sliding around the deck because of the smoothness. I digress!

The point is, in my opinion, it's okay to make whatever isn't the main focus not stand out in order to let the real star shine even brighter.

That's right, I'm talking about you, Gary Busey. You deserved that role...

With all that work it sure is a shame that it's an Xbone exclusive, huh? Must be pretty expensive to craft a system like that, and how are you going to earn back all the add money and other expenses to balance your books?

We'd welcome you with open wallets over here in PS4 town. Come on, don't be shy.

That's the point they were making, that the zombies aren't all that colourful, so you'll never really notice how unique they are.

I refer you to an earlier statement of mine.

i cant take you serious if you pick Gary Busey over Steve Buscemi....
Busey is a beautiful man and you can't deny it.

Also, going back a bit, that game you used as an example, I can't help but find it intriguing...
