wish i could just embed the video, but it wont let me get the link.
anyways, i really dont think it deserved such high praise (such as claiming it to be the "best survival horror game of our generation). It doesnt look like survival horror at all, just gears of war with laser guns and zombie-babies.

besides that, im surprised it didnt get a lower score for having bad multiplayer, dont most mainstream reviewers put that as having a LOT of weight in their reviews? well, it looked like a left 4 dead rip-off anyways.

but thats just my opinion, what do you guys think of this?

EDIT: Yeah, i havent played the game yet, both because its not out and because when it does i wont play it because i didnt like the first (i like saving money for good games, thats all). ill give it a chance to surprise me, but ill let my brother buy it first since he's into corporate cash-ins (Cash-In of Duty anyone?). I mostly take issue with the "best survival horror game of our generation" line.

I like how you're judging when the most you could have possibly played is the demo unless you somehow received it as a gift or done something illegal.

Come back when you've actually played the full game. I will be enjoying it in a week just like everyone else.

I think someone's wallet is fatter for it, that's really it...

What? People get payed to write reviews, I honestly wish I did, but every time I write a review I make the game look bad for some reason...

It's not my fault! I'm too honest to be a big name reviewer anyways >.>

Who knows, I never thought of dead space to be a survival horror, ever. Survival mean's you have slim chances of survival unless you're very careful. Not armed with a damn gun to kill shit with. Unless its really hard to kill shit then maybe.

I don't trust a single thing on that site.

I don't care if IGNs opinion agrees with mine, I will never use their reviews for anything more than...oh wait. It's the internet. I can't use them in the toilet.

Well, great. This doesn't impact my expectations for the game until I see the general consensus and I don't really trust IGN, but their scores are generally fairly predictable.

So, yeah, we could have a standout title on our hands. We could not.

That's just a waste of good paper, Journey!

Bullshit. They might get paid to favor some games over others, but for the most part their reporting seems to be spot on. It's the community that comments on most of their stories that's full of fucktards.

You just don't like the popular websites, do you? IGN vs. Gamespot, it's just like PS3 vs. 360, completely stupid arguments.

OP: What does it matter if it's survival horror or a cover-based shooter? A fun game is a fun game, no matter what genre it's shoehorned into, and it was touted to be a scary game in the first place. Whether it is or not doesn't really matter. Is it fun? Maybe. That's the IGN reviewer's (possibly paid for) opinion.

When did you have a chance to play it, by the way?
No, IGN are just terrible. Just look at this crap: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1070909p1.html

And how exactly do you know that his opinion is not based on legitimate points?

You don't. You're assuming.

Jeez, man. What review got you in such discontent with them?

Well, I hate being startled, so I won't be buying the game. I did make an attempt to get into it and played the demo, but just like with DS1 I couldn't even make it to the end of the demo before getting fed up with the jump-out scares; that stuff doesn't scare me, it simply annoys me. The few minutes I played were pretty much Gears of War with worse controls, a more sluggish overall feel and unnecessarily convoluted item management interface.

So, no matter what IGN says, the Dead Space series will never ever be the best horror game of any generation, as long as stuff like Silent Hill or Amnesia: The Dark Descent are out there.

List too long. Let's put it this way...I doubt their integrity. I have no problem with reviews that disagree with my opinions on games.

It's another thing for me to doubt the reviewer's integrity. There is one reviewer on that site I liked, and he's gone.

I agree somewhat. IGN and Game Informer have great access so their news reports and interviews are often great. Their reviews are just decent, but their opinion articles are generally terrible.
