Its obvious this game doesnt fall under Survival Horror anymore now. So im going to coin the phrase Action Horror, just for Dead Space 2.

Still given the score and its pro and cons, I cant help thinking that something happened behind closed doors. That or maybe the game really is that good.
id support the use of that term. something probably DID happen behind closed doors, though

Not interested until the games is out and people confirm that the games controls are not as rubbish as the first game. Telling PC users that they aught to use a joypad for a shooter as the mouse was not done properly. Never could believe that....

Tomorrow is big day for Dead Space 2. Who's getting it? I decided to go with the LImited Edition of DS2 which also comes with the move version.called ahead and everything. <-----NERD

I don't care for their reviews, but since I enjoyed the first game and they've reportedly fixed most player complaints for the second (as well as included a 3rd-person space version of Left4Dead's Versus mode) I'm sure I'll love this game. Game of the year? Nah, we all know that's going to be TES V: Skyrim since Bethesda wins every time it enters, but I still plan on playing the hell out of it. Sure it'll only be scary the first time, scary being a relative term, but if the gameplay is fun (I've done dozens of playthroughs of both RE4 and Dead Space) this will be a permanent addition to my gaming library.

I figured only the Collector's Edition had that, since gamestop.com never mentions it for the LE. Cool if it does though.

I'm not much for IGN's "reviews".

You can't spell ignorance without IGN and I feel pretty strongly that reviews are strongly influenced by leverage.

wish i could just embed the video, but it wont let me get the link.
anyways, i really dont think it deserved such high praise (such as claiming it to be the "best survival horror game of our generation). It doesnt look like survival horror at all, just gears of war with laser guns and zombie-babies.

besides that, im surprised it didnt get a lower score for having bad multiplayer, dont most mainstream reviewers put that as having a LOT of weight in their reviews? well, it looked like a left 4 dead rip-off anyways.

but thats just my opinion, what do you guys think of this?

EDIT: Yeah, i havent played the game yet, both because its not out and because when it does i wont play it because i didnt like the first (i like saving money for good games, thats all). ill give it a chance to surprise me, but ill let my brother buy it first since he's into corporate cash-ins (Cash-In of Duty anyone?). I mostly take issue with the "best survival horror game of our generation" line.
Gonna be great just like the first one. I don't rate games on a scale of any sort. I just prefer to rate them as playable or unplayable.

Is it going to innovate? no. Is it a great horror game? Absolutely. Just like the F.E.A.R series is an awesome horror series. the means you use to dispatch your enemies makes no difference, those games were meant to scare you and they deliver.

Also, it is one of the best stories of the past 5+ years in a horror game IMO.

Dead space is hardly a corporate cash-in.
The plot is well thought out, the interactive cutscenes are fantastic, the whole coming full circle from the first game is done really well as well as a few revamps of your favourite enemies from the first game.

Fair enough if you don't like the series, but you can't just call Dead Space a corporate cash-in.
Call of Duty is, Dead Space is not.
Dead Space isn't just made for the money, the developers have an interesting story they want to tell with some interesting characters (the ones that survive anyway).

Dead Space for me was a current generation revamp of system shock II,but it managed to do it so well I didn't really notice.
The second one is so far removed from the first aside from the weapons being the same.
The game play is different enough to keep one hooked, and zero gravity is simply a joy in this one.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Also, dismembering each other online is immensely fun and the cooperative aspect of it is akin to those of L4D and killing floor.
I think the game deserves at least an eight and I don't know why people whinged about Isaac's "lacklustre voice actor. I think he suits the character very well and the narrative was just golden.

The bits inside his mind were well executed too and really depict a man on his last legs, completely losing it as his mind and sanity spirals into obscurity.

Actually, in all honesty as far as interactive cutscenes go... alot of companies could learn from Visceral. There's some action scenes in the game that you control that just make you go "wow!..."
As for the story, yes it borrows heavily from event horizon, but it also adds enough to keep me enthralled and not feel like I know it all already, especially the second game.

it is the greatest survival horror game of our generation though! really, can you think of any other survival horror games that are actually amazing as opposed to alright? there isnt, other than dead space 1 (and maybe Resi5, but dead space is still better). so dead space 2 wins by default.
