It certainly shows how uneven the testing is in the show. Why the heck did they mount his shield on a spring board when they saw it fit to merely mount the Viking shield (Which they got wrong, but I digress...) on an artificial arm?

Consistency, Spike!

Anyway, it was pretty even fight with the Spartan armor and shield working as most of us suspected. I was quite certain that the Samurai would be able to injure the Spartans exposed arms though...

Anyway, I am going to watch the Swat episode now. That will be interesting.

Gey, they is no way in hell a fricken SWAT team could take on GSG-9 and win. It's complete bullshit.

One, are cops, the other are fricken special forces. There is no comparison.

and I'm pissed about the samurai losing to the goddamn spartan, though I can sorta see it, I still think it blows.

The season has started!

Episodes:

Spartan VS Samurai/ Spetsnaz VS IRA (Special episode): http://www.spike.com/show/31082

Swat VS GSG9: http://www.spike.com/full-episode/37917

Next week: Atilla the Hun VS Alexander the Great!

In a weeks time Atilla and Alex will clash and after that I'll reset the poll each week so we can all speculate on who's going to win.

Also, if you haven't seen all the episodes yet be weary of spoilers!

So: weather you love the show or find it to be excruciatingly boring feel free to jump into the discussion.

My girl got me into this (she's th'history buff)...we've watched it together since the first eppy...all i gotsta say is DAMN THE GORRAM SPARTANS!!! THEY KILLED OFF BOTH HER FAV WARRIORS (Ninja) AND MINE (Samurai...we get in debates about this all th'time) JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR GORRAM SHIELD!!! I mean C'MON! If your biggest claim to fame is your defensive weapon, HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU SO "AWESOME"?!?!?! I mean, you had a warrior class with the brainpower equivelant of a bunch of jockitch football players, and THESE guys are the "greatest warriors ever"?!?!?!?! PUH-LEASE!!!!

Spartans beating Ninjas was what put me off that show. The 300 fanboys won that one. Sorry but if a Ninja jumps out of a tree to attack you, your dead.
My girl and i discussed that eppy for hours (she's a hardcore ninja fan, i'm a samurai supporter...do the math)...She kept goin' on and on about how:

"There's no way a Spartan would beat a Ninja in a fair fight!"

"Babe, there's your key-word....a "fair" fight....Ninja's were all about stealth and deception, and the quick kill...(she gives me a dirty look)....don't get me wrong! They're the best in the world at it, but they're about ending the "fight" quickly! If it was a mano-a-mano BRAWL, like it was on the simulation, it'd totally be a Spartan win...now, once that spartan goes to bed at night and gets his throat slit by one of the dead ninja's brothers, that'd be accurate too"....

that seemed to end the debate for th'time being...

Watched it last night. Awesome episode Swat vs GSG-9, didnt find Spartan/Samurai. I knew Swat was going to kick ass. They had better everything, I'd even take the Remington sniper rifle over the HK. Swat also had experience on their side. Yes the GSG-9 are one of the best counter terrorism units in the world, but they dont go out day to day. Swat goes out daily(Especially in my city) and is trained for it.

Also What the hell where those germans thinking in the rescue sim? Swat took the time to make sure the civilian dummies where on the ground and safe before moving on and they still where faster. GSG-9 didnt even bother and lazily walked out, they could have had it had they treated it like it was real.

also id like to to say that most of the testing in this show is crap at best and they mix up the information alot, but the show is extremely entertaining and educational at the same time (i mean i first learnt about the mayori, srry of spelled wrong, from that show) although i missed the samurai and spartan episode, im totally pissed that the spartan won im just thinking that they throw in the movie 300 as they're data for the simulation. i mean the samurai got the freaking yumi, and from what i saw in the first season it was crazy accurate. spartans were all about the phalanx and close combat(atleast from what i know which isnt much)so in singular combat with an opponent that could shoot u in the eye with a 7 foot long bow should freaking win.

Well I actually thought that the Samurai was going to take this one due to the fact that the spartan has no armor on his arms. One good slash from a katana or naginata would have been enough to take the battle home, which I assume happened when the samurai got his kills...

Alexander the Great.
1)Better weaponry
2)Better tactics
3)Better leader
4)Better warrior. Somehow, everyone seems to forget that Alexander was a badass warrior king that led his army into battle, wearing bright red armor, and daring people to attack him. Oh well.

The show doesn't really take the last three into consideration(and doesn't do a very good job at evaluating the 1st), but in REALITY Alexander would have beat the shit out of Attila in one-on-one combat or in a battle of army vs. army.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Hun and his crew were very crafty and while I doubt he get's to keep his horse in the simulation, he'll still be a threat.

To be fair, I don't know much about the swords the Huns used, but I know that their composite bows could punch through armor without much trouble.

The composite bow is the only area where the Huns have the advantage and it's not a very good advantage when you consider that Alexander fought and dominated the Persians, who are revered as histories greatest archers(and the Persian army was A LOT bigger then the Huns').

The Macedonian shield, spear, long spear, sword, and armor beat out a bow any day and history has already shown that. Then when you add Alexander the Great's cunning and combat skills to his technological advantages, he wins hands down.

On a horse there is no comparison, the Macedonian calvary was the 2nd greatest military force(next to their phalanx) in the ancient world. In a battle, the Macedonian phalanx would run over the Huns like a bulldozer over a cat.

On the show Attila may win but like I said, the show leave out a lot of variables and doesn't really test the weapons all that well either, so it's not very reliable IMO. Although, I'm not entirely sure the objective of the show is to be reliable. I think its goal is to show a lot of blood and have idiot go, "OH DUUUUDE!" in the background. : )

Hey now, I'm not saying that Atilla is going to win this, but I am rooting for him since I find him more interesting. Also I think his bow is going to be more effective against Alex than the other way around.

Just thought I?d make a post-episode comment.

This episode proved exactly what I was saying. This show proves nothing and this episode showed how stupid the shows "tests" are.

Multiple problems:
1) They used a ballista(a siege weapon used to taking down fortresses from very far range) in a one-on-one combat scenario. Not only is this unrealistic, it?s flat out stupid.
2) Despite the aforementioned stupidity, they gave the ballista the "edge" over the axe(seeing as the axe was proven to be completely useless against Alexander?s helmet). But in the final kill total, the axe had 88 more kills then the ballista. Yeah, OK.
The same thing (to a lesser extent) also happened with the Sword of Mars (given the ?edge?) vs. the kopis.
3) The biggest flaw that I saw was that they barely recognized/took into account the fact that Alexander would have worn metal armor and that he would have been equipped with a shield. This would have rendering most of Attila's weapons useless, which was proven in the axe vs. helmet test.
Oh, and the composite bow couldn?t even go through small wooden and foam targets. There is no way it goes through a Macedonian?s metal chest plate.

P.S.: Why the hell would Alexander raid the town Attila was in, when he could have just berated it with nonstop ballista bolts? This has nothing to do with the ?tests? rather the show's fight scene.

That's a Win for Attila then. I agree that the tests were stupid as #"%!/&¤! but that is what we get.

Next week it is Al Capone's gang VS Jesse James gang. I am going out on a limb here and say that the tomygun is going to mow down the cowboys like grass.
