Company of Heroes Complete is $12.50 for the weekend deal. It's not often I hate a game as much as I do CoH, and still recommend it strongly to others. It's an amazing RTS that I find very unique and hectic. The game revolves around building smallish armies (Think Warcraft 3 sized armies and squads) and capturing points for more resources. There is a lot of micro-managing in the game, which is what kills it for me, but makes the game for my friends who love it. At $12.50, I can't recommend this strongly enough to any RTS fan out there, because the game is great enough to outshine my personal hang-ups on it.
To me, I find the game similar to a real-time version of Advanced Wars. Most of the gameplay elements that are in AW are also in CoH. The problem I have with the game is I have a really hard time controlling the game, and I always feel like I'm fighting the game interface and mechanics as much as I'm fighting the AI. I guess I got spoiled on Supreme Commander where you get the strategic zoom and MASSIVE armies that you don't really have to tell what to do because there isn't the same amount of depth in the skirmishes. There is a lot of depth to the battles in CoH, and you might compare it to a game of Chess, where you set up your pieces and have them defend their spot until someone creeps up with a stronger piece that you can't hit first. Once again, this game totally outshines the problems I have with it and I hope you all can have fun with it.
