Dear Escapist, please get new ads

If I have to sit though a certain commercial about a certain beef product one more certain time, I'm going to blow my freaking brains out... certainly. It's only become particularly annoying to me as I tried to watch this week's episode of Extra Credit, but the code's broken or something, so I kept trying to reload it and I had to see that ad more then three times in a row. Granted, I was able to mute it, and I will join the Publisher's Club once I have disposibale income. (but I planned on doing so despite the ads because I repect Escapist) Personally, I would show that ad but also make some custom made ads to keep the mix interesting, make some short 5 second ads the majority with the 15 second ad shown only 25% of the time... then I would make the ads give me money, 'cuz I obviously don't know how ad contracts work on sites like this and just wanted to vent on how stupid this ad is.

Wouldn't it be cool if you sold DVDs of some of your shows, such as, oh, iunno, Apocalypse Lane? Come on, you know that show's just begging for a DVD. How about some of the other canceled shows out there? I'm sure someone would by an Unforgotten Realms DVD.

You can ditch the adds by signing up for the Publisher's Club if it's really that aggravating.

And I would totally buy a DVD set of Extra Credits once there's enough to actually fit on a DVD or two.

Wouldn't it be cool if you sold DVDs of some of your shows, such as, oh, iunno, Apocalypse Lane? Come on, you know that show's just begging for a DVD. How about some of the other canceled shows out there? I'm sure someone would by a Unforgotten Realms DVD.

If you have Firefox, get Greasemonkey then go to userscripts.org and search Escapist, there is a script to download videos from the site and then burn them to a DVD......?????? PROFIT!!!!

You said you have problems viewing the video? same here, I just tried viewing a video after downloading a suspicious program *skype* and the error in code arose.
Never had the problem before till now.

I didn't say get rid of it, just, iunno, mix it up! Get a different ad for the same product, make it so it doesn't come up every bloody time I load a video, make a new one, I have no idea how it works...

You want something different, them maybe you should pay for a different Ad.

Well, I doubt it's Skype, though I use to like the program, when I tried downloading it recently I really didn't like how it seemed to shove its way into my system and told my browser to eat a new toolbar without even asking me. It use to be a very cool and sleek program, now it feels aggressive and starved for attention...

Anyhow, it's defiantly the site itself, Escapist will fix it soon I'm sure.

I feel your pain. Every time I try and watch a whole bunch of episodes at once (ie. Doomsday Arcade, Unforgotten Realms), that stupid commercial comes on, and the more I see it, the more I want to tell everybody I know to never, never buy it. It'd be less painful if the ad was actually interesting, or at least not as crappy.
There's no problem with having ads, but at least try to switch them more often, or maybe even get a couple of ads at once and play a random one, instead of playing [look! if you eat this stick of meat, you can be cool and awesome and beat up ninjas!] over and over. and over. again.

I can't be the only one sick of this commercial (which I'm not mentioning by name out of fear of it getting this topic deleted) I'm glad you're making money, Escapist, but if you're gonna plug that product over and over and over and over -gasp- and ooooooooooover again, at least update it with one of the THOUSANDS of other ads out there for the same product. I know it probably doesn't work that way, but hell, make your own, or something, I don't care.

I know what you mean I've seen that slim Jim commercial like a hundred times it would be nice for them to use new adds more often.

Meh, the ads are annoying but they keep the site running, so whatever. They don't bother me much. I just mute them and go about my business for another 30 seconds in a different window until they end.

In any case, as far as a DVD, I'd totally buy Unskippable, though that might be kinda hard with copyrights and all. But I'd still buy it if it was available. xD
