Dear Lord, is this what they think we're like?

"Sword of the New World is an action-packed tactical fantasy MMORPG set in a world of colonial exploration inspired by Europe?s exploration of America."
Just look at the concept art. [http://swordofthenewworld.gamersfirst.com/concept_art.php]
[small]Because America looks like a cross between Vvardenfel and Middle Earth.[/small]

Isn't it a little mind boggling to see where they've taken this vague idea? Frankly, I'm a little floored. Do you have a favorite... Erm... colorful game reimagining of your home?

[small](And yes, I know it says "inspired." That's not the point of the thread, and its not a clever thing to say after it has been pointed out by ten other people.)[/small]

wish I did, exploring (and destroying) my home town of Reading would be awesome!

still, kinda wierd to make an MMORPG based around the colonisation of America, considering how bloody that period of time was

edit: just saw the pics... that doesn't look very colourful or very American =\ honestly I can't see how they got their inspiration from those times.

Whereas I'm perplexed by the concept of a colonial MMO I'd like to draw your attention to the word 'inspired'. It's a fantasy game from the look of the enemies, so it's only natural it would be given that sort of look.

From what I've seen, it blends New age with Colonial Times quite well, and I'm a sucker for a mixture of new and old.

Not sure what I'm supposed to be outraged by, honestly.
I'm not outraged, I'm just so... confused. Why bother using America if you're going to go so far off base?

Well, there is the whole....ancient mountaintop castle ruins and whatnot. And the steampunkness....and the fruity stipper-armor. And....yah.

This looks awfully wierd. I think "Vardenfell and Middle Earth," as mentioned in the opening post, describes it pretty wierd. It certainly doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in America.

Wouldn't it be the other way around?

No, we think you're a bunch of nuke-dropping assholes with burger grease dripping from your pubic area.

But really, those pictures are probably America once ol' Chris Coulumbus got his grubby hands on it.

*Hits the creators on the nose* No! No anime colonial period! No MMORPG for you! Bad game creators! Bad!

It looks... Awful. Sorry. I'm thinking about saving my monthly MMORPG cash for the first game that at least has the option to have women in armour that would actually help in a fight. By the time one comes out, I should be able to finance my own game that will make that a reality for me.
