Key word bolded. It's inspired by a particular era of exploration, not necessarily by the area being explored.

It's not like North America hasn't done plenty of "colorful re-imaginings" of Asian culture over the years anyways. ;)

Those jerks only based it off of Disney Land. The rest of America looks nothing like that!

My god do I wish America looked like this! I completely agree, while I suppose some creative license must be allowed, this is a bit absurd XD

Just look at the concept art. [http://swordofthenewworld.gamersfirst.com/concept_art.php]

Isn't it a little mind boggling to see where they've taken this vague idea? Frankly, I'm a little floored. Do you have a favorite... Erm... colorful game reimagining of your home?

It's not America I'm worried about. Why do the Europeans look like Japanese anime characters?

Wait, that's sarcasm, you mean that America is NOTHING like that? Man... So many years I believed in a lie...

Ok, just kidding. You know what my idea of America is? Since the only contact I have ever had with the USA is through Hollywood movies, this map pretty much sums it up:

Haha, oh wow. I really do like the neo-victorian clothes though. I wouldn't mind seeing this turned into a fleshed out real game instead of an MMO.

if you look at the rest of the website (and read some of the words that appear there), you'll notice that this game is not supposed to be representative of the discovery and colonization of the Americas by Europeans, but is a twist on a similar scenario occurring in a fantasy setting.

It's anime Guild Wars... Why even bother saying it has anything to do with the colonization of America, why not just make up a whole new story line/.

It looks...fine...?

Not sure what I'm supposed to be outraged by, honestly.
Well, there is the whole....ancient mountaintop castle ruins and whatnot. And the steampunkness....and the fruity stipper-armor. And....yah.

This looks awfully wierd. I think "Vardenfell and Middle Earth," as mentioned in the opening post, describes it pretty wELL. It certainly doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in America.
I'm assuming that's what you meant.

The landscape looks nice, I'd love to settle there.
It's ispired by the theme of settling, not america in general. They never said it is supposed to be America, did they?
