I don't see much wrong with the area design, considering that.

It's the bloody stupid character designs that worry me.

Oh, dear God [http://swordofthenewworld.gamersfirst.com/concept_art_large.php?image=1&max=13&photoString=7,8,9,10,11,12,13,27,28,29,30,31,32#].

Remember: Fantasy in games is just another way of taking a period of history when corsets were considered risky and making all the women run around dressed in a way that would make a sailor blush. And the men dress like pricks too.
(Although, the sixth outfit to the right isn't bad.)

Hellgate London. A shame it was shit, but I hope it doesn't dissuade other developers from making a post apocalyptic game in London, it's just too great to pass up. Hell maybe even put L4D 3 in London, I'd love that, then it really would be like 28 days later.

"Inspired by Europe?s exploration of America."
It´s just a made up continent based on America, not the actual American continent.

As for colorful representations of my birth country, I´ll say "Chili con Carnage" for the PSP.

Well, Kalimdor from Warcraft is obviously inspired by America, too.
It's just the old idea of "explore a new, unknown continent!" recycled, I don't see anything wrong with it.
It's not really supposed to be America, from what I've gathered.

Do you have a favorite... Erm... colorful game reimagining of your home?
Well, Pittsburgh got reimagined recently. On the down side, it was done in Fallout 3. (cause, you know, Pittsburgh is filled with crumbling buildings and mutants...or at least isn't anymore.)

I was vaguely disappointed that the term "Shitsburgh" was never uttered in that DLC.

On topic, sure it looks sort of dumb, but it's not like history has never been perverted by a video game before. Need I remind anyone of Dynasty Warriors? Or pretty much every World War II game, ever?

Actually, since this is an anime-themed game that's just "inspired by" colonial America, I'd say Valkyria Chronicles would be the closest analogue.

3. its a video game.

I don't see what you all are whining about, that's exactly what America looked like. Hell, I can look outside my window and see that shit.

A pterodactyl just flew by. Hold on, gotta go kill it.

It says "inspired by" for a reason. You know that story, The Strangers? That was inspired by a story about theives that knocked on the door to see if you were home before stealing your stuff. Doesn't mean it's the same thing.

Not sure what I'm supposed to be outraged by, honestly.
I'm not outraged, I'm just so... confused. Why bother using America if you're going to go so far off base?
Well, doesn't it say inspired by America's Colonization?
