Dear the Internet: Shut up about Mass Effect 2

Anyway, if you do fancy a moderate read, here's my thoughts on the furore surrounding ME 2.

Forgot about mass effect 2 coming out, FUCK YEAH. Can't wait till 29th!!!!

I would leave it at that, but can't you just respect that people want the game and are naturally going to talk about it. Or would you suggest we not talk of things which might be looking forward to and instead spend our time talking of what?

Gamers talking about the next big game coming out, was this not expected?

I haven't even seen that much hype around Mass Effect 2, I expect it will be good, but not nerdgasmic, all my enthusiasm is set on Aliens Vs Predator 3, which I've already pre-ordered.

I did the same thing with Fallout 3. I'm enjoying it now, but I had to leave it alone for a year and not think about it too much.

Just try not to worry about it too much, I guess. Since I played ME1 and really enjoyed it, I'm firmly telling myself to expect more of the same, so I can be pleasantly surprised :V

So I'm not sure what it is you're getting at. Are you upset because people are possibly spoiling the game for you by not properly sectioning off spoilers and warning about them ahead of time... or are you just upset because everyone wants to talk about something they're anticipating heavily?

So you don't like how people are talking Mass Effect 2 so much because you don't want to get yourself excited and then be disappointed? Then stop surfing the internet and shut up. It's a game people are going to talk about it, it's one of those things that happens when a shiny object is presented to a mass audience.

dude. it's a game. people get excited and the marketing team of said game roll with it. in 3 months time all this talk will die down. just strap yourself in and wait it out. yes there will be the idiots out there that will treat it like the second coming of jesus. but those are the people who need to be taken away by the government never to be seen again. all that matters is if you liked the game or not. the internet cant really change whats popular. you seen youtube recently? go there and tell me how many "pants on the ground" videos there are. and it's going to be that way till about march when the guy is long forgotten due to the other idiots of the internet.

I am so stoked about ME2. I was in where I preordered it and they have my copy waiting for me. The preorder bonus is there. And all the hype surrounding it has not bothered me in the least. I know exactly 1 thing about ME2. And that is how the exporting character from 1 works. That is it. That is all. Oh and the Cerberus DLC pack thingie. Spoiler alert they plan DLC. It isn't all that hard to avoid it.

Soooo... you have a nasty habit of hyping yourself up to unreasonable levels and setting your expectations on games way too high? And then when your delusional predictions don't come true, you're kinda bummed? And because of this you don't like game marketing or people talking about the games they are looking forward to on forums?

To this I say: I endured the storm of MewTwo threads a while back even though I didn't care about the game in the slightest. I endure the weekly "Valve Fanboy Wankoff" threads, the weekly "PC Gamers suck" threads and the usual hype for whatever generic FPS is coming out this month that the kids are looking forward to.

For once, a game that I like is coming out. A game that I care about. As far as I'm concerned, there can be as many Mass Effect 2 threads as people care to make. If it bothers you, don't read them...

EDIT: And of course Oblivion disapointed you! It was a pretty shitty game overall. Heck, it disapointed me, and my expectations weren't high...

Ha nice. I had to look up QED, on the urban dictionary of course, because I couldn't believe an internet TLA could be referencing latin, but hey it is. This was my favorite definition:
