Terry Pratchett. Considering the fact, that he has Benson's syndrome which is some form of Alzheimer, such an occurence is more likely than I'd like to think.

One of the reasons why I don't want him to die is a pretty selfish one. I'd like to read more of his superb books and especially a continuation of the Watch series. But apart from that, I also think he is a very kind-hearted man and an inspiration for many. He is less an author, and more of a symbol. His writing is original, funny and very geeky. He takes traditional fantasy or fairy-tales and spins them around.

Keep fighting, Pterry!

Terry Pratchett comes to mind first,
be sad when Discworld novels just stop coming out.
Its even sadder how you can sometimes see the deteriotation in his work- maybe its just me, but I found Snuff to be one of his worst books. He didn't even write a lot of it, instead letting his assistant do the work. (Not that thats a bad thing) It just lacked the spark of the older watch novels.

Geddy Lee. Neil Peart. Alex Lifeson.

The day we lose any of them will be a dark day for music.

It's going to suck later on in my life when the likes of Stephen Fry, Nathan Fillion, Rowan Atkinson, the Top Gear Trio and Mark Hamill exit stage right. Grew up with these people, to see them go would be devastating.

For me, it would mainly be ,Graham Chapman one of the iconic Pythons, as well as Nathan Fillion or Joss Whedon. If either (or both, god forbid!) died, there would be no more hope for Firefly, there would be no more Castle if Fillion died, and likely no more good ensemble films or series if Joss died. He does those spectacularly.

And as for Graham... Well, he's one of the surviving Pythons, and really, hes a living legend in British Comedy, or at the very least should be. I would most definitely mourn his death.

Of course, honorable mentions go to Sean Connery, Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, and last but certainly not least, Tim Schafer.
Dude...I dunno if this is a joke or not...but Graham Chapman's long dead...

Tim Mcilrath and Justin Sane. The same goes for anyone else who are part of either band, but those are the ones that started each of their bands and the ones I consider essential.
You beat me to it. Tim McIlrath would crush me, heck, if Rise Against broke up, I'd probably be in my room blasting Heaven Knows on repeat at brain-destroying volume for days. I'm mature like that.

Serj Tankian or Daron Malakian would suck too. Zach de la Rocha dying would be awful.

Robert Downey Jr, or Liam Neeson dying will be terrible, although I don't care so much about movies etc.

A friend pointed out it'd been 10 years since Firefly the other day. That pretty much nailed me as the death of Firefly (Which might as well be a person at this point).

I'm going to be mildly bummed when Terry Pratchett bites the dust.

Granted, that's partly just because I don't want the books to stop, but he's still a cool guy in his own right.

Morgan Freeman must live forever so that we have someone to narrate things.

We should record him saying every word in the English language with every possible tone and accentuation. Then we could reconstruct new sentences with the recordings so that his voice can live on forever.

Well... there are quite a few. But not counting those who are still pretty young:

The two remaining Beatles. They were pretty much the first band i really listened to and i'm gonna be very sad whenMcCartney and Starr die. I mean, a part of music history is gonna die with them, you know?

Gotta agree with the posters who mentioned Terry Pratchett. One of my favourite authors. I grew up with his books and i have great respect for him as a person.

When Ozzy Osbourne goes, me and my friends are dropping everything, going out and getting wasted in his honour.

Devin Townsend would be the worst loss humanity has ever suffered.

On a side note, Christopher Hitchens' death made me incredibly sad for weeks.

Well Neil Armstrong's death "bummed me out". He was such an amazing man who didn't claim to be a hero.

If Brian Blessed or Liam Neeson died tomorrow I'd be very sad.

This is an outrage. An outrage!

Only one person so far says this:

Sean Connery.

When he dies, I'm going to hold my own funeral at the altar in my basement.

Then I will weep for 7 days in reverence.
It will be a sad sad day indeed when this happens.

As many others have mentioned, it is the older folk who will make me sad. What would shock me is when younger people bite it.

For instance, if I woke up tomorrow and discovered Anne Hathaway had bought it in some freak lesbian menage a trois accident with Natalie Portman and Olivia Wilde, I would be fucking devastated. Because then I'd have no chance of putting my moves on her.

Aaaaand... /massive amounts of delusion.

A number of comedians/satirists, Stephen Fry, any of the three remaining Horsemen, some actors, Morgan Freeman, Hideo Kojima, and a number of other people who make videogames, especially all concept artists. Other than that...couldn't give less of a f*** if f***s could be negative.

EDIT: And Cadel Evans.
