Define a fanboy

So in your opinion. What makes a fanboy?

I think a fanboy is someone who is so emotionally invested in a product or company they refuse to see the faults in their particular choice.

Someone who prefers the ps3 over the 360 isn't a fanboy. Someone who will argue for hours that sixaxis is just 'totally awesome if you give it a chance' is.

Likewise someone who prefers the 360 over the ps3 isn't a fanboy. Someone who attributes all of the RROD cases to users being retarded is a fanboy.

But seriously, I think fanboy is a devotion to a certain product so powerful that the sufferer of fanboyism is likely to start shaking and foaming at the mouth if someone so much as questions the superiority of their product.

I consider myself a PlayStation fan. I really do love the console and there are reasons that escape my ability to vocalize. I stop short of fanboyism in that I can recognize that the 360 does have it's strong points. Although, I'm still thoroughly confused about the Wii. *headscratch*

You and Indigo although slightly douchy when you get into 'CONSZOLE IS TEH AWEZOME' mode are not complete douchebags and therefore are not complete fanboys.

Also there's really no reason for this to be locked providing people keep shit civil. Don't accuse people of being a fanboy, it's a crappy argument.

Something just occured to me. I suppose I'd be the opposite of a fanboy. The Iconoclast. Chances are if something is popular. I'll hate it on principle. I'm probably just as bad.

It's not like fanboyism is attached solely to gaming either. Here in Canada people get into fights, actual fucking fist fights over the better truck, chevy or ford. I always thought it was just an internet thing you know? Too much time on people's hands but it seems to be a very human (and unfortunately male) reaction to buyers guilt.

And I have to say that i am a true Fanboy, but not a Sony Fanboy. If you turn your head to the left (no, your other left) you'll see an indicator of the object of my adoration.
