Are you sure they're not just dudes making ladies look bad?

EDIT: Okay, I watched 12 seconds.
That is all I could tolerate.

Swear to god.
Which one?

I lasted a minute... I stopped after they revealed their Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers shirts... Ninja Turtles are still cool, but the only reason people wear shirts that boast TV shows of yesteryear is because they know they were popular back then, and somehow "retro" stuff is cool. (Granted, retro games will always be awesome.) Sickens me, it does. I doubt either of them were Turtle or Rangers fans when they were young, seeing as it was leaning towards boys in nature.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS!
I don't support such behavior or conduct myself that waybut should we reprimand people for doing it, it's not doing any real harm. Besides their not setting us women as far back as twilight.

Can we reign in the discussion a little here? The topic might be a sour apple but at least some of the comments have been productive, lets try and keep it that way.

As long as this remains a discussion it's tolerable, even if distasteful. When it becomes a place to vent ire and ill-will at your fellow human beings, however, that's when it needs to be locked. Less unrestrained fury at other people enjoying themselves, please.

This video is poison to the mind. You may think you have the right to be that stupid, but if you don't have a diagnosed mental disease you really don't. At the point where it is painful for anyone that has a brain in their skull to talk to you, you are a menace to society and should be locked up in an asylum until you can function in the real world.

Like I say about smokers, if you see someone doing this, you should have the right to punch them in the face, that would fix this problem real fast. I wish I could meet a girl that didn't act like this, and if I did I would propose to her on the spot, and run away with her into the mountains, in fear that she might catch the stupid virus.

This forum is the entire reason I have an account, I just couldn't stand leaving the site without voicing my opinion on this matter.
I made it a whole minute and four seconds into this before my gag reflex forced me to look away.

The primary problem regarding the degradation of females are women themselves.

Feminism as an equality-centered ideology is dead, cremated, and left to rest in history books. Now we are left to tolerate what I have, so lovingly, come to know as "New Feminism". Which isn't about equality in the slightest. It's about superior treatment and privilege. About being considered "weaker", except when it suits you to be regarded as otherwise.

Anti-feminism is on the rise, because men are tired of being discriminated against by women. Seen as shallow, interested exclusively in sexual encounters, judgmental toward women, amongst other things. Lash out against a group of people, and they will lash back. It's becoming common to associate these "new feminists" with actual feminism.

However, Disney's little brats are merely a symptom of the problems and we are fooling ourselves, if we think they are anything greater.

As for my fellow women, I have a "crazy" proposition to put forth. What if men won't treat us like objects, if we don't ACT like objects? What if true equality comes not from constantly trying to force equality, or perpetuating the problem but rather... By being on the sidelines? Doing what you will do, and being who you will be, regardless of what others will think.

And from this, inevitably, will come dignity.

Upon review of the entire thread, allow me to extend my comment 'Fellow human beings' to encompass Feminism. A crazy idea, I know, but one we might just try for the very first time here today.

that video is an inaccurate representation of how the media depicts women because "the media" consists of things that are "entertaining" or "watchable for a duration of at least 30 seconds". but as far as the actual sexism that people see in shows, movies, and advertisements, you can show me it's wrong by showing me a more respectful image of women that's more entertaining or makes more money than what i see today.
<spoiler=/thread>http://digiredo.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/olivia-munn-licks-apple-tv.jpg

That's not sexist, that's just plain awesome.
that's..kinda hot..?

she has a really small forehead *scratches head*
Why so tentative? It's Olivia Munn.

As opposed to a larger forehead...?
Oh, Olivia Munn. Right. well, a more generically proportioned forehead would be *clears throat with appropriate masculine gruffness* ..hotter
What is an Apple TV? Why is she licking an Apple TV and not me?
I like her tongue WHAT? SORRY? I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING.. -.-

Rather off topic, I know, but I must object to your claims good sir! I'm a girl, and loved the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers way back when. I even loved those god-awful Power Rangers movies.

On topic: I don't see how that video affects feminism... they're girls being stupid, not women expressing their personal views on a serious issue. Sure it's a bit worrying that people willingly post the most ridiculous things about themselves on the internet, but we can't stop that, and it just shows that a large chunk of the global population are idiots.

There's always an exception. Not that I was claiming that there were no female PR fans.

If only all woman thought this way the world would be a better place. Thank you for being innovative and actually thinking (Unlike the "girls" in the video)

As an added thought I had hither-to left unsaid... If I pick a fight with a guy and he hits me: I wouldn't want it considered any worse than if he had hit another guy.

Don't forget that guys can be raped too. I know a guy who got pencil'd.
I know that, but the point is that girls can just point and say rape, and the law comes down line the atomic bomb. Guys can claim rape as well, but odds are more likely that they'll be dismissed.

I'm confused as to what was going on in that video... Uh, were they mocking Miley Cyrus and that other chick? Or the other way around? Either way, the second pair was a good deal more attractive and definitely had better applied makeup, though the relevance of such things eludes me.

As to answer the OP's question, if there was indeed a clearly illustrated one, I just do? I do things because I think they're cool, even if I receive odd looks or mockery in return. I am who I am, and although I did so in my younger years, I've never tried to change myself to 'be cool' or anything of the like.

I'm of a rare breed of ladies that is what she is. Luckily for me, that just so happens to be flat out awesome. ^^ Regardless, yes, those are real females, if a piss poor example at that. But I shan't complain, as dumbass girls like that only make me look that much cooler, so carry on.

(Okay, this is what happened. I was wondering why I was quoted as asking that XP)

Not quite my meaning, I more so meant at least you don't delve into the underbelly of pop-culture crap. But ah well.
*laughs* I kinda thought you were saying I don't say lol and omg and all that other stuff and like every other word. I usually give reasons why I hate things, but for some, like Twilight, I just hate it because people assume I'll like it because I'm a girl. My mom was at Chapters buying presents for me and asked one of the ladies who worked there what a girl would like. The first thing she said was, "Twilight." My mom's like me thankfully. She thought it was stupid. :)

That's nothing. I do that with the words where I know what I want to say but it gets tangled and I go to stock phrases like "It's really interesting" like one does during a French oral presentation in which they've forgotten their entire speech. My mother also called me my brother, then my dad, then my uncle, then my sister, and then I supplied her with my name. That, along with the 'give me the piano' kind of stuff is not a speech impediment or anything. It just happens from time to time.

Also, Scatman is God.
*laughs* The Church of Scat? I once did a speech about forgetting your speech. It only had to last a minute. Mine lasted 3. "Maybe I should say I was in a freak accident involving baked beans and ninjas and can now only speak German." I got a laugh out of that.

Yeah, and you damn well better not forget it. Scatman John is god.
(I fucked something up, sorry about the double post)

I said this? I know what Scatman John does, I was weirded out when I got the system message... That's just... I didn't say that...
I screwed up the quoting, I thought it was you who said it, not GirlGamer. My fault.

I love that quote.
I always hear it in Mohinder's voice when I read it :3
Me too. I watched the first season so many times that I have it committed to memory.

That sounds like the best speech EVER. I wish I'd been there...
Also, you know how you were saying that you get mistaken for a boy by feminists? Well, it's the other way around for me. Read this:

It's almost entirely non-fiction, but with a storytelling spin on it.
