The single for the Pikmin trailer song, "Ai no Uta" outsold the game.

But, to turn this into an actual topic, discuss othersuch delicious, tasty ironies in gaming. And please, do not mention The Forbidden Spawn of Atari. You know the one I'm talking about. We all do.

Here's a good one...when MCR got into Guitar Hero II on the 360, everyone said they were emo and had no right being in a Guitar Hero game. And after the DLC was first released, people insisted that RO and HMX release original songs that were not on GH1...the very first pack they released of original songs was an MCR pack.

This is a bit more person specific, but here we go. I suck at first person shooters, but I was playing Halo 3 with my friend's, Matt and Eric. Matt is amazing, and Eric is quite good. Well, we were playing a full muliplayer match (you know, all 16 people), Swrods, i think it was, and this one guy kept trash talking. He ended up with, no joke, 0 kills. None. I suck, and I still had about 9. In gheneral, Trash talkers suck big time. That's ironic (sorry for the story).

MGS3

Col. 'Thunderbolt' Volgin: Who's afraid of a little thunder?
(Lighting bolt hits Volgin, blowing up the Shagohod and killing him.)
Snake: Fried by a bolt of lighting. A fitting end. (Turns back to making out with hot spy chick).

I'm afraid I have little to no idea what the acronyms (I assume) refer to in your post... I guess GH1 is Guitar Hero?

MCR = My Chemical Romance
GH# = Guitar Hero #
RO = Red Octane (Developer)
HMX = Harmonix (Developer)
DLC = Downloadable Content.

Even better since Volgin kept repeating "Kuwabara, Kuwabara" every time it started to rain before that point.
"Kuwabara, Kuwabara" being a japanese chant to ward off lightning. The ONE time he doesn't say it... ZZZZAP!

How about the Irony achievement in BioShock? Yeah, I know, I didn't exactly search hard for this one, but I don't really care.

Halo 3

On the second to last level (hell), when you finally save Cortana, Master Chief says," I was thinking of shooting my way out, just to mix things up a little." That struck me as a little stupid, since throughout the entire game you basically shoot your way out of every situation.
If it was said in a game with more tactical gameplay, it would have been more appropriate.

Is that Irony? Iono.

Please tell me that never happened.

I think Metal Mario in Super Smash brothers is Ironic :D

Wait...

Seriously though, I reckon the whole Resident Evil concept of

> Fight once in a life time plague virus infected city.
> Never ever likely to experience this again.
> Travel to your next town and realise that yes, it has been virused and taken over.
> Have every single attempt at exposing/uncovering the reason result in a 'nuclear meltdown' in a city which doesn't even have a nuclear power plant.
> Despite trying to expose it to the world, never actually meeting another one of the virus survivor protoganists from the previous games.

And the above all completing a vicious zombie filled survival game, earning the ability to complete the vicious zombie filled game once again, perhaps with the addition of more powerful weapons, removing the whole point of 'survival'.

I find the Final Fantasy sequels ironic. After all if the first was the Final then how in the world are more being made?

Money leeching, although they usually give us times of fun with it.
I don't know if you said that without knowing the original story behind the making of Final Fantasy or not but I'll make it brief to not occupy time. Square was in a financial rump, nearly entering bankruptcy so they fetched the story telling Hironobu Sakaguchi. In tribute to the situation they were in, they decided to call what could be their last game Final Fantasy.

Of course that never happened and before I'd just think that it was called that since it was kinda like the final fantastical adventure of the characters in each game's independent world. That is, until FF X-2 came along and screwed the whole thing for me.

To lamely keep in track, mentioning the "Samus is a chick" revelation was a big bomb dropped to all the testosterone male gamers who fought only they deserved to appear in games.

Also, I recall a wonderful moment in GTA San Andreias I saw where the guy tried to jump off the highest mountain he could find with his car until he finally does the jump and proceeds to get run over by a passing airplane, killing him before he could reach his lunatic status of crazy man jumping off mountain.

Man! GEMS got banned?! Bummer.

How's this (I know I am not the only one either) I can play GH songs on a real guitar, but not past medium in the game.
