The Bourne Identity. Sure the game was mediocre, and just bland, but the demo was a whole bunch of fun. The demo did what it promised, to make you feel like Bourne

Quare Wars on the PS3. I didn't need to buy that game as I had loads of fun just with the demo. You got one map and could play a full game with either side. Maybe I'll pick it up one day.

Second mention goes to the Star Wars Battlefront demo on the PS2. I was super psyched for that game and you got the Endor level, but with an annoying time limit. I hate timed demos. Just give us one level, or if it's an open world game wall off a piece of the map. The Star Wars demo was actually a little different from the final product as I recall. Units had slightly different abilities. I think there was a disguise option that was not in the final game.

I've only played a few Demo's on XBL. The most fun I had with.. War for Cybertron demo. I enjoyed it, but I'm not buying it.

It's either Just Cause 2 or Red Faction: Guerilla.

Sadly, both demos were actually much, much better than the actual games.
Yeah, I had SO much fun with the Just Cause 2 demo. Got the full game, and all of a sudden the novelty wore off. The world actually felt TOO big. If they'd put more in a smaller world and given you more to do, made it a little more focused, it could've been a REALLY great game. That and if they'd had a good plot/voice-acting (I know it was probably meant to be that bad, but still).

Tomb Raider 1 - enjoyed the demo enough to go get the game :p.
Had a surprise in the real game, as the place where the demo starts there are arrows stopping you from standing there in the real game. Nearly killed Lara lol.

I did also have an "edutainment" disc, which was basically a whole bunch of shareware on a disc (wow, remember when they could get away with selling those?). Used to play with that a fair bit, but never got any of the full versions.

Not played a demo in a very long time. I used to play demos back when there were limited forms of finding info about games, and demos were the things on discs attached to PC magazines. Back then I couldn't afford magazines of my own, and dialup access was limited to me, so was reliant on grabbing the disc off whatever PC mag my Dad decided to buy that week.

I expected more than only 7 story missions.

I mean, 7 story missions? That's it? There's got to be some kind of law against that few story missions in that big of a game.

To be honest, I've only played about 2 story missions. I went through a phase of having to 100% every place I went to (bar the city districts for obvious reasons). Cleared the whole south-western island before I realised, "Hey, this is getting tedious, let's do some missions." Then I slowly got bored of those too and haven't really gotten back to it as of yet. I don't know, the novelty has worn off a bit.

I think the only demo I've ever played was for Transformers WFC. I had so much fun playing with my friend. It made me go buy the game the next day.

Well, World of Tanks is going to be open beta in not too long I think, and you can always sign up for the closed one =p. It's going to be free-to-play too, so yay! ^^

The demo for Warhammer 40K: Squad Command on the PSP. It was my most played game on the PSP, after maybe Loco Roco.

Yeah, as Hubilub said, the Just Cause 2 demo. It was very fun, even if it did get a little repetitive at some times. You're better of getting the demo, than buying the full game.
