FPS: Sniper and Assault mostly. Pissing people off with a pistol or a assault rifle shot at previously thought impossible ranges is my favorite past-time. I find it really relaxing to peg someone off since my days in BF1942 when I would team up with a buddy, slinking through the maps.

MMOs: I usually gravitate towards the tank or melee dps. As of late with CO, I find myself enjoying ranged combat and massed AoE attacks. As for a role, I'm more of the guy that'll put myself into the thick of it to buy time or push an advantage.

i'm on the debate team and mock trial team. i alternate between straight man who has an extensive background knowledge on the subject and the sarcastic devil's advocate at practices

When in almost any situation, i sit back knowing that what the others are doing is horribly wrong and then I step in, push the person who has made him/her self leader and pick apart and fix said situation.

The grumpy leader, no I don't consider myself a natural leader, I'm the guy standing at the back hoping to be the follower, but that will eventually stand up and say "hell if no-one else is going to do something I might as well".

It's Sniper and spotter (combined) and medic in BFBC2 because I suck ass with those inaccurate piece of shit guns in the assault and demolition classes at the beginning

First thread, be gentle.

Assuming everyone on the Escapist doesn't just surf the forums looking for ways to increase their post counts and goes outside every once in a while, you've all probably done something as a team/group/collective with other individuals. Unless you were of no feasible use or generally brought everyone down, you contributed something to whatever it is that you were doing.

What part are do you play in an activity involving teamwork?

As an example: I've been playing in a recreational soccer league for the past 4 years, and every year, I've been the spearhead of our defense. Super skilled guy walking through our players? They send me in. Fast guy who no one could catch? I'm on him. Every coach I've known has praised me for my determinator-like aggression. While I'm not particularly that good, if you have the ball, and I'm infront of you, YOU SHALL NOT PASS. Or atleast if, you get by me, I will hound you until you either A) Screw up and lose the ball or B) Realize that I'm on your ass like a painful hemorrhoid and pass the ball away, buying us some time.

Post any examples if you wish!
Generally speaking, if it has anything to do about sports or gaming, I tend toy be a good flanker/attacker character. I'm enthusiastic, determined, low-profile (both in game and out), and I tend to love to cause chaos within enemy ranks. If you need to give the other side a huge headache, then I'm your man.

More seriously, in the work environment, I'm a pretty dependable guy. If I say that I'll get something done, it'll be done. My enthusiasm also translates over to my work, so when I'm in the groove, there's very little I can't do. My only real flaw in teamwork is that if the subject doesn't really interest me, it'll be harder and take longer for me to get in the groove, and there will be a bit of lazying around during that period.

Well, I've recently been playing Bad Company 2, and my war on the battlefield can best described as follows:

I am the warrior, plain and simple; the assault specialist, namely. I get onto the field and don't back up until I'm either dead or facing down a tank. I always lead the squad, all too glad to take a bullet for our engineer (or hopefully, our medic). I have a tactical eye; I blow out, take over, and fortify position after position, ready to serve as a respawn point/ammo dispenser for the others. I fight to the last, calmly shooting out walls, knocking down skyscrapers, marking tanks and snipers, and polishing off the infantry with a deftly-placed carpet of assault rifle and grenade launcher fire. I get behind enemy lines and don't pull out until I'm pushing up daisies. They call me...

Face_Cleaver.

And I will kill you.

...Not to toot my own horn, or anything.

Also, when playing looser-role shooters (I.E. HALO, Borderlands), my friends call me...Jack. But I prefer the term 'Leadslinger', owing to my .9 headshot average.

I'm usually the guy, who goes with the flow, but if the team or whatever is just passive, or plain dumbass, then I take the lead. Well, that all depends on the subject, if it's something like one of those group assignments and the topic is really not for me, then I'm just like "Fuck it!" and I don't even take the lead, just sitting in the corner being bored to death... A leader role for a man is quite important, it feeds his ego and every man needs his ego fed sometime:D

In games tho, I'm really more of a team player, like medic engineer or what not. Though as before I mentioned, if the game is new to me and I'm not really into it, then I just go around with an assault rifle or any similar medium damage dealing weapon. I do like to go somewhere in a quiet corner and camp with me old sniper rifle.

Sports, I don't play.

Whenever I've done something in a group in school or otherwise I'm always the guy making the calls and organizing the effort.

They say I'm like a captain. Excellent leadership qualities, motivational speaker (that's drama for ya'). Or is it because I'm tall and usually the loudest?

In Rugby League, when defending, I'm the guy who you will NOT get past. Run it straight at see what happens. When attacking, I'm the guy who thunders into the defense. Screw dancing. You take me down, I'll make sure you hurt too. :D

In games I'm usually the sneaky little fucker who flanks around and picks off the other team.

Depends on my mood really. When I'm relaxed and mellow, I can be a great Sniper or sneaky flanker. When I'm angry or at least somehow pumped up, I love playing classes with big booms or big assault rifles. And when I'm not feeling like being part of the spearhead, I end up playing as a support character; Medic or Engineer or something.

In RPG's, I usually end up with a Rogue-like character, although as of late I'm getting drawn to the heavy melee-dps, Beserkers and the likes. Though in SW:TOR I'm probably going to play a Sith Inquisitor for some AoE-goodness.

Bottom-line, I'm pretty schizo with what classes I pick.

Heavens the starting guns do suck compared to what you get later on. I was doing totally crappy as a regular Engineer, then I picked up a more advanced kit and wam I got a 6 kill streak. I mean, come ooon.

As in you don't play games? Then I wonder how you got on this site.

That would be strange indeed; I don't do sports, but I certainly play games, and for a significant part of my spare time at that.

I team vidjas I usually play the scout or the medic... Kind of a contrast in roles, but it happens. In TF2 I only go Medic if my team is full of attack classes/ has no other medics, and in L4D... I usually just forget about my teammates. =D

Well before my injury I was the captain of my football (soccer) team and played in defence and right midfield. So my basic role was win the ball, pass it to someone in a good position and provide support in corners. But have been unable to play properly over a period of time the past 2 years.

I'm the "power behind the throne" type, I never take charge but always always ALWAYS make the guy in charge succeed perfectly, due to a constant barrage of ideas. I just hate to be the center of attention.
