Seriously, that many 100/100s?
If it's even 3/4s as impressive as these reviewers are saying I'd say it's a worthwhile purchase. I figure I'd wait for some actual feedback before buying the game, but it's looking like a must-by at the moment.

Any comments, Escapees?

I have it pre-ordered and I'm looking forward to trying it I haven't read any reviews because I don't want spoilers but It's nice that it's getting a good reception at least.

A 100/100 score seems a bit ridiculous to me though I mean surely there must be something wrong with it...right?

A friend of mine is telling me its pretty much perfect. Have yet to personally try it out though.

His exact words were "its like Mass Effect meets a better shooter/Splinter Cell depending on your play style."

I got a text from GameStop a few hours ago saying my copy will be available to pick up tomorrow morning. I'm probably going to be a ghost for the rest of the week. I hope I don't get too overzealous with the takedowns at my martial arts class on Wednesday...

If you weren't already excited before, you should be now.

In my experience internet reviews tend to air towards the harsher side, to the point of being outright petty when it comes to minor flaws. So if they're saying it lives up to the hype, you know it lives up to the hype.

I didn't get into gaming until after the first Deus Ex was long gone, so I never played it or Invisible War, but if Human Revolution turns out as trouser-wettingly good as I hope I may well pick those up. It will have to involve me getting good at using Keyboard/Mouse controls though, something I've never succeeded in before.

Well, unless the game it so good that it actually causes you to grow 15 inches of steel out of each wrist I think you'll be ok (However there is still a significant possibility that the game really is THAT good).

Invisible War isn't the horrid abomination that some make it out to be, but nor is it nearly as good as the original. The original Deus Ex is extremely dated these days in the visuals, but the gameplay more than holds up. I replayed it a few months ago, and it still plays great. Also, there's a new high-res texture pack that you can mod it with that makes it look much better (as good as a decade old game can look, at least).

Definitely worth checking out.

Thanks. My only worry is I'll be so blown away by HR that if I go and play the original after that I'll be disappointed.

Got it pre-loaded. Can't play until Friday because it takes 3 days to ship digital copies from the US to the UK.

According to what I've seen the game isn't out until the 26th, are preorders being granted already? If so I might see about ordering it ASAP.
Maybe it's just the steam version I'm thinking of, who knows.

I've got it preloaded and ready to go. Luckily I don't start class until Wednesday, so I'll get a good solid day of play in.

100's and high 90's are handed out far to often. Praise comes easy from publishers afraid of what might happen with developers, and with a title like Deus Ex, Nostalgia glasses are a given. I love Deus Ex, I'm excited to play it and give it a shot because I was disappointed by the last DE game...plus it's my kind of RPG...

...but...

...I'll wait for Yhatzee.

I just want to know if it has:

- EMP grenades
- Usable (not just shootable) fire extinguishers (or a pepper spray gun again)
- Gas grenades

Surely they weren't so mean as to take out some of the best parts of Deus Ex.

It looks like a damn sweet game, I'll tell you. The Escapist's review did a good job of getting me excited for the game, so I'll probably get it sometime around Christmas.

It unlocks at midnight, pacific time, or 3am for me.

But this is Steam we're talking about so there may be a slight Valve-time delay.
It probably come out a few days early in Canada and the US. It's usually the case with games.
I know a lot of people are buying it to tide them over until Skyrim but it might turn out to be the superior game.
