Developers you love to hate and hate to love

What developer drives you up the wall, but you can't help loving them at the same time? It can be a publisher or anything game-related, really.

For me it used to be Treyarch, but I think the crown has been stolen by Bethesda. Most of their games are buggy messes from hell, but still very good. I just have to spend substantial amounts of time to get every other game to work properly.

However, the icing was put on the cake when I tried to play my Fallout 3 GOTY edition I purchased recently. I had attempted Fallout 3 twice before over the years, but eventually fell away for various real life reasons. But now I had the GOTY edition! And Windows 7 x64. Yeah, for those that don't know, trying to play Fallout 3 on Windows 7 x64 is like trying to play hopscotch and every 15 minutes some juiced out jersey shore wannabe runs by and karate kicks your nuts. Crashes and freezes left and right, a plethora of "solutions" that work for some and not for others(and none for me), and even Bethesda has said "Fuck that, you're on your own." After many hours trying to get it to work, I eventually gave in and quit. I'd have to find a different game to play.

And I found one! It's this neat little new one where you're stealthing around, very steampunky, really awesome game to play. It's called Dishonored. I hadn't really stayed up with the news, but I figured I'd give it a try and at 5 hours in I was very impressed, so I looked up who developed it. God damn it, Bethesda, either let me hate you or let me love you. I want off this emotional rollercoaster.

I love to hate on Capcom, but I can't help but play their fighting games. I really hope they clean their act regarding DLC, and barebones games.

I mean c'mon. Gems were really, really stupid. The last thing I would want in a fighting game is some silly pay to win nonsense. And creating/releasing UMvC3 less than a year after vanilla MvC3? Come on. Vanilla MvC3 should have never been released.

Capcom, please.

Given that it's a solid game, handle the new Darkstalkers more cleanly, and maybe I can forgive you.

What exactly do you mean with How they make their games?
Just curious.

OT:
I love to hate Ubisoft with their stupid DRM non-sense.
and I hate to love nintendo; I'm probably going to get suckered into buying a Wii-U.

They have this cycle, you see. Pre-launch, they laud all of their features while all the customers hate them. Then, post launch, Blizz just says they're sorry and everybody grants them vouchsafe forgiveness. It's horrible.
I'm still mad over D3, so I may be biased.

Hate to love: Capcom. Some of their practices are shit, but dammit I keep getting their games because they're so fun.

Love to hate: Electronic Arts. Their practices are shit and almost everything they've released in the last two years are shit, as far as I'm concerned. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the last game they published that I remember enjoying wholeheartedly.

I don't think that there are any specific developers that I "love to hate." There are plenty of publishers that fit that description, but when it comes to developers I'll usually be apathetic to them at worst. I do hate that I love Visceral Games so much, though. Visceral is clearly full of talented people that seem to genuinely love making games, and they made one of my favourite games of all time, Dead Space 2, so I will always have a special place for them in my personal gaming Hall of Fame. But at the end of the day, they're still a subsidiary of EA, so it was only a matter of time until their flagship franchise got executive-meddled into the ground. Everything about Dead Space 3 makes me very sad, and the fact that I respect Visceral so much just makes it all even sadder.

Hate to love: Capcom. I love Resident Evil, DMC, Okami, Megaman, Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, Breath of Fire, and more that aren't on the top of my head, but they just want to chase CoD's market and ruin what I liked about the games, moreso with the first two.

Love to hate: EA and Activision, since I don't like any of their games and they're huge dicks I don't have to put up with it. Or at least until they start influencing companies I do like...

Hate to love: Paradox games
Why? Why paradox? Why must you hurt me so? Why must you release such buggy games that they are nearly unplayable? Why have I waited a year and yet Sword of the stars 2 is still a broken mess? and why do I still buy all the games you release?

Love to hate: Ubisoft
Assassin's creed 2 have sold millions of copies on PC, but as we all know 95% of PC users are pirates so this is only a fraction of what we would have sold, herp derp.

Hate to love: Capcom. I hate their business practices, and lately their offerings have been subpar, but I know the instant they announce Megaman 11 or Dead Rising 3 I'll eat it right up and love every second, like I have been with Ace Attorney 5.

Love to hate: EA. I don't care about any of the things EA publishes, except maybe Bad Company 3 if its ever announced, so I can complain about their business practices and not feel like a hypocrite about it, because unlike most complainers, I actually don't buy EA products.
