I just picked up on Diablo 2 myself about a week ago and I can hardly stop playing it. It's one of the best RPG's out there, and even though it's relatively old you should still give it a go.

It never hurts to try and you shouldn't judge the game based on its age.

Diablo 1 is quite nice as well, and it provides ( a little ) more background information to the events in Diablo 2, so you might want to pick that up as well.

Actually, I was planning on picking up the Diablo Battle Chest which comes with the first, second, and the expansion pack.

As another argument for Trying out D2, you can probably pick it up and the expamsion for like... $10 brand new. Gamestop still has TQ Downloads for $15 (yes, I checked >.>)

Sacred was very, very good. But like many people have said, it is just a Diablo clone. But a good one.

I am playing (and loving) Sacred 2 at the moment, I would recommend that.

Titan Quest I have played and enjoyed very much (never got round to the expansion, though)

But you'll probably find, if you want to play online with other people, that there is more people playing Diablo 2 than any of the other games mentioned here.

This is kinda embarrassing....
Is there a demo for TQ?
I'm asking because my laptop barely makes the minimum specs....

And I encourage you to do so. The games come very cheaply nowadays, so even if it isn't your cup of tea it's a very, very small loss.

Mind you, it may take a second to get used to the 640x480 resolution of Diablo 1, but if you look past the poor graphics you'll find yourself a great hack 'n slash ARPG.

I was just wondering if any other games had come out and improved on the gameplay of Diablo.

That's impossible.
And you're a Blizzard whore, if you jump to conclusions and assume he's a graphics whore you two should get right on with the spreading your legs biz eh...
I'm a Blizzard whore because I think ARPG's don't get any better than Diablo 2? And yes, I have played Titan Quest.

I think you can find one here. The demo is capped at level 6, only 3 masteries (warfare, hunt, earth) available and 2 quests.

I did exactly the same thing last week and I completely agree. Get Diablo 2 and the expansion pack. You won't regret it.

Everything else since Diablo 2 is a Diablo 2 clone. Even Diablo 3 will be a Diablo 2 clone.
Haha! Genius =D

I have Titan Quest and I usually only play it with my cousin. BUT we also play Diablo 2 and we have way more fun on it.

Why don't you buy Counter-Strike and pretend you're an elf?... Or that I'm a troll (lame Internet joke)?

Seriously though, I'll have to agree with most of the folks here, Diablo 2 is the way to go my friend...

Diablo 2 is the best ARPG around, play it as soon as you can get your hands on. I have been looking for a worthy succesor to its throne for quite some time but no game comes close.

You can't go wrong with Titan Quest, a nice and graphically superior game of pretty much the same concept. It lacks the depth but will give you a solid 20 hours of entertainment.

Dungeon Siege was pretty good back then but I doubt its the game you are looking for now (it hasn't aged too well). Sacred 2 is a decent game, a little unpolished but you will get your fun out of it. It's bugged up the arse, so watch out for that.
Lastly I'd like to recommend Spellforce 2, it's a pretty solid game that focuses on RPG/Strategy. It isn't your traditional ARPG but worth a look since you can pretty much find it in a bargain bin.

So I'd say check them out in this order:

Diablo 2 -can't go wrong
Titan Quest+ Exp.- like Diablo 2 but prettier with cut off corners (kind of like the System Shock 2 - Bioshock conversion I guess)
Spellforce 2
Sacred 2

If you really want to find a good succesor you'll have to wait for D3 :D.

Diablo 2 is an amazing game, straight up. I bought the Battle Chest with Diablo, Diablo 2, and the expansion. I didn't really like Diablo 1 all that much, but Diablo 2 had fun gameplay, a gripping story, and it is brimming with replay value. But I lost my play disk and I'm sad now :(
