Sorry, but no game has managed to beat Diablo 2 gameplay-wise. Graphically? Maybe. But when it comes to slaughtering hundreds of mobs.

Spellforce 2
What? Spellforce is an RPG/RTS HYBRID. It's as far from Diablo as possible without going into TPP/FPP.

Ughhh.. Dungeon Siege... please god no. Sound philosophy, good ideas, bad, bad, BAD impelmentation that was NOT fixed in the sequel. Those games just drug on and on and ON way passed the point it went from moderately entertaining to grind to boring.

I loved Total Ahnnihilation and Supremem COmmander, but Chris Taylor dropped the ARPG ball pretty badly with DS1 & 2.

Okay, so from what I can gather from the recent posts is that Diablo 2 is the way to go.
However, it's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be so I can afford to get another game maybe even two.
Any suggestions?

EDIT: Wow, my 500th post was in my own thread.

Diablo 2 is still one of my all time favorite games, i recommend getting it if you can get the disks. So satisfying taking down around a screen full of skeletons without so much as a sweat

Sacred 2 is not any better than Diablo 2 to be quite frank. The graphics are quite similar (well actually I'd give the edge to Diablo 2). The story for Sacred 2 is just a mess. The sidequests consist of 4 differnt types including escort, collect x amount of things (which are clearly marked out), Kill x amount of this type of enemy and postman. Given that there is over 600 sidequests according to the back of the box well it does become boring. Couple this with the fact that the enemies don't seem to get stronger along with you and the game can't support an ADD player (gotta do all the sidequests type) your character becomes a God much to fast. The only thing Sacred has over Diablo 2 is the open world. It is frickin huge. And Sacred to has a more challenging character development scheme. It actually requires alot of thought and planning right from the start.

Diablo 2 is easily the best ARPG ever, and one of the best games ever. If you want an ARPG, there's only one choice.

Diablo 2 with LoD is good.Hell it is good without LoD.I found Dungeon Siege to be rather fun but don´t know if you can call it a A-RPG.

This is kinda embarrassing....
Is there a demo for TQ?
I'm asking because my laptop barely makes the minimum specs....
I think you can find one here. The demo is capped at level 6, only 3 masteries (warfare, hunt, earth) available and 2 quests.

Alright.
Thanks, I'll download that and see if it doesn't kill my laptop.
Ha ha ha, your laptop will die! >: )

I just completed D2 (on normal) and it feels like you aren't considered 'good at it' until you've completed it with each different character class 20 times on the hardest difficulty to try out each of the specs. I did enjoy it, but when I finished at lvl 35 and took my character into 'Nightmare' difficulty, I died far too often and couldn't face the prospect of trying to grind for hours to get my character high enough level to be able to complete any boss fight within a reasonable timeframe.

Diablo II is the pinnacle of ARPGs. Hell, it's practically the template from which all others are made.
Was that pun intended?

What about the first Diablo?
The first Diablo is a good game, and I can remember spending a whole summer addicted to it back in the day, but really, it's nowhere near as good as the sequel (that is not a sentence you hear every day). Diablo 2 has a lot more replayability and features etc. If you want you could save your money for Diablo 3, which will come out at some point not too far in the future, hopefully.

Buy Diablo 2 and the expansion pack. Do it now. In fact why havent you bought it now? Heck if the shop is shut, break in and get it. Just play it now. Also you may want to go down to your local supermarket and buy an expeditions worth of food and drink, because I tell you, you aint getting away from that PC for a looooooong time.

For some odd reason, I imagined that being said in a high-pitched hyper voice.
Kinda like from Alvin and the Chipmunks.
But okay, I'll take your advice.

On a sidenote: Any other games I should try?

Ah, those were the days. Nothing quite like mosying down into one of the tombs in act II, opening a door and finding a room filled with angry Burning Dead.

Whirlwind awaaaaaaay!
