'Bout fucking time if you ask me. The auction house was a good idea if you like completely breaking the gameplay, which is the ONLY thing that Diablo 3 has going for it. Why bother finding a weapon yourself when you can just pay for a bigger weapon and let only the obsessives grind relentlessly.

How long do you think it's gonna take people to just start creating 3rd party sites to sell items for Real Money on instead, thus rendering this entirely useless?

My money's on "About a Week"

What's interesting is that the Gold Auction House is gone too.

Ah well, RIP RMAH. I made $60 from you, which is more then I get from most questionable game systems...

oh wait, it's not happening for 6 months?

It's not happening for 6 months.

Do they really think this is going to give the game the success that D2 had?

Probably not, wouldn't surprise me if this was just a way of hyping up the expansion pack and getting some goodwill back from the community at the same time.

Captcha "good riddance". Right on, Captcha, right on.

Ill believe it when its actually removed. From day one I saw the problems with the real money auction house and its implementation was absurd for what diablo is supposed to be. I ended up boycotting the game just because of the Ah and even after its removed I still wont buy it. Not because of a continuing boycott but because I really just dont care about diablo as a series/story anymore and frankly there are better games out there like Path of Exile and Torchlight

Good, now all they need to do is rewrite the story into something half-way coherent and make the levels less linear by design, allow multiple difficulties right from the start, more character customization so every wizard/monk/whatever isn't the exact same as every other, and Diablo 3 might not have been a terrible game.

Diablo 3 still stings as one of the biggest disappointments for me in quite a long time.

This would be a good time for someone to explain to me why the AH was so hated. I know D3 had plenty of issues, but regarding the AH, it seemed like a good ol "don't like it, don't use it" deal

One of the major issues was that the loot system was designed to give higher amounts of inferior gear then previous diablo games. They designed it that way so that more people would use the auction house, thus letting blizzard make more money from sales. Whether you used it or not it effected your game

You know, I made a fair bit of money off the RMAH. Enough to cover the cost of my Collectors Edition.

Never the less, can not say I am sad to see it go. Now if they fix the stat generation on drops, that game may be playable for longer than one week stretches.

I think the base drop-rates were created assuming the use of the AH, which is why my level 60(p4) Barbarian has found *1* legendary item, ever. And a poor one at that.

Using the AH made the game boring for me once level 60 was hit and inferno completed. I lack self control, but I'm also grateful for the amount of time I've saved. D3 took a fraction of the time that D2 did.

I agree and commiserate. Diablo 2 was special.

And how long ago did you play? because as is right now Legendaries are only slightly rarer than Rares (in the 40 hours on my Demon Hunter, I've found around 16 or so Legendaries[footnote] and been given 3 more out of the blue by somebody who basically went "My stash is getting full, take these, I don't care if you actually have any use for them or not."[/footnote], and that's with almost no Magic Find beyond what Paragon gives me), and Loot 2.0 isn't even out yet.

Ah, see I didn't know that. Every time I saw people complaining about the RMAH, I never once saw a real, grounded reason like the one you stated.

Thanks for informing me.

Nooooooooooooooo! I currently started using it to make a little extra money for Hearthstone Arena Passes. Well 6 months of D3 double duty.

But will those sites affect the drop rate and induce lag when I play singleplayer?

About 2-3 months ago, for about 3-dozen hours. Thundergod's Vigor. That was my 1.

Great that they're making Legendaries easier to find (although them being only slightly rarer than rares sounds like they've gone too far the other way). It's too late for me. Already kitted-out from the AH and stopped playing. Mainly because the game doesn't begin 'properly' until level 60, and I lack the time.
