Well it's not really a fail but it always bugs me for some reason but at a certain point in Mass Effect you're talking to Fist and:

Shepard: I never want to see you again.
Fist: Don't worry, you'll never see me again.

Yeah. I just really don't like that.

Oh and I was playing LeafGreen yesterday and after you beat the first trainer in the Pewter City gym of you talk to him again he says:

"You're pretty hot... but Brock is hotter!"

Which is funny considering I always play as a guy.

Pretty much all of the dialog in Just Cause 2, Bolo Santosi in particular. Don't get me wrong, the game itself is excellent, but sometimes the voice acting and lines are so bad, I have to wonder if they weren't doing a spoof of video game dialog.
Bad writing in Just Cause 2?

Wait...Ninja's....wat?

Any time Tom Sheldon opens his mouth in Just Cause 2 I feel a murder frenzy coming on. Not that the rest of the cast is much better, mind you.

Wonder if it's some sort of curse: "You can either be a good writer, or a good game designer, you can't have both. Choose wisely!"
Possible. I'm a fair hand at writing but I can't do a thing with any kind of code.
Seems to be a trend.

And that explains the entirety of Gears of War.

COLE TRAIN anyone?
To be fair, it's not like anyone (sane) actually played Gears of War for the plot.

When a guy in Legendary exclaimed "I have a bad feeling about this" immediately AFTER one of his squad mates was pulled into the water and devoured by a giant kraken. Priceless.

For the record, it wasn't my copy, it was a friends. I don't want people to get the impression that I would buy Legendary.

people give too much credit to the metal boxes line the most awkward lines in that game are probably from the farseers speech at the eldar stronghold.

for me its probably got to be the entirety of ninety nine nights.

Just Cause 2 has literally the worst writing and voice-acting I have ever heard. I do mean EVER, and that includes the "master of lockpicking" gem.

Eh. In general, games aren't very well-written; even Final Fantasy isn't as good as the average novel. They do okay, but personally, I think people give them too much credit--frankly, I know a dozen people my age who could have done better.

Which is why they won't be writing videogames.

Mass Effect, male Shepard. So monotonous, bored and uninterested, and at times just plain bad. Also Earth 2160: ALL OF IT. Seriously, the writing and voice acting in that game sucked about three times worse than something that sucks major donkey balls. It's an awesome game, but the voice acting was so atrocious I just couldn't bring myself to play the campaign anymore.
