Did anyone love ME3?

Of course people loved Mass Effect 3. The fact that there is such a fan backlash proves that people loved ME3. Nobody wanted to see such a great series end in such a way so they saved other people from being greatly disappointed.

The ending shouldn't leave things like everything you've fought for throughout 3 games up to the imagination, it should make things like that clear defined and final, that's why it's an ending. That's what we were promised, an amazing definitive ending. What we got was rushed confused excuse for an ending that's riddled with plot holes and continuity errors that blatantly rips off the original Deus Ex and doesn't even bother telling you what your decisions meant for the galaxy.
Why does it have to? Aside from the easy argument of Creators Rights and the lot, everything in the Mass Effect universe has been wrapped up. Every loose end has been tied up by the time the ending sequence happens. Hell, there's a reason everyone's okay with throwing their life away, because it's been a good run and no one really has any regrets.

Plus, in a day and age where games BLATANTLY hold your hand and tell you to do everything, it's nice that a developer has decided to leave out the details, details i'm pretty sure they know but are withholding , and let you fill in the blanks. I had no problem speculating what happened at the end, and I actually find that preferable to having everything wrapped up in a nice little bow. A loose end isn't necessarily the result of bad writing. Hell, its a good place to pick up IF you want to pick the series up again. Not saying Bioware will (can't say the same about EA), but it's food for thought.

Seriously. In an industry where imagination is limited, a game that encourages us to use our own shouldn't be frowned upon.

I didn't... Paragon ftw... :D

Also a lot of people did love ME3, even the haters of the ending (self included) mostly say that the 95-99% of the game is amazing.

No. I just beat it and in general I would say I was disappointed. Less content, less characters, less character DEVELOPMENT and very little in the way of interesting story points, I thought. It was certainly enjoyable, but nowhere near as good as ME2, and I don't think that's just a matter of high expectations, though I certainly had those as well.

Lazy storytelling backed by solid combat. In fact the only thing I DID like about the story was the ending, which people have had problems with. I didn't mind it.

Great game.
Terrible ending.

Holding out because of rumours that the "real" ending is coming. Not getting my hopes up, but it did ease the pain of seeing the pathetic endings.

It's one of my all time favorite games - and I've been playing games since the SNES when I was three. It's absolutely great and despite the lackluster ending (it wasn't THAT bad, just slightly disheartening) and there were several moments where I actually teared up.

Mordin's death was one of them and then the bar in the sky talk with Garrus. That talk was possibly the best dialogue conversation I've EVER had in a game. Made me swell with emotion.

Get it!

Fan artists can make some crazy effed up shit sometimes, other times they can make something really pretty.

ignoring the endings, this was one of the most beautifully written, if a bit narmy in some places, video games of all time. the ending however, was a bit of a gut punch, I am not gonna lie about that.

However, I don't think that is the actual ending. what I mean is this: Bioware is not stupid. never have been, most likely never will. As yahtzee said, Bioware's writing is some of the best in the industry. I, for one, refuse to believe that Bioware thought that the ending in the finished game was what they would leave us, the paying public, like that. My theory: there is something coming. If I am right, it might be the greatest swerve since Hogan turned heel at Bash at the Beach '96. If I am wrong (and I doubt that I am) I will probably not be playing video games for a while.

I wouldn't as far as "love", I would go with "Its alright, maybe even good" but then I'm not that far into it judging by the trophies I haven't got.

Something that has bugged me is the way that they keep "killing" characters, only for them to be ok.

*SPOILERS* (beause I don't know how to do spoiler tags)

For example, "oh no, they've killed Kaiden...no, no he's going to be ok. Oh no, Kasume's been blown up...no, no she was just faking it. Oh no, Grunt has just sacraficed himself...oh for fuck sake."

*END OF SPOILERS*
Some of those turn out differently if the character wasn't loyal in ME2.

Mass Effect 3 does so many things right, the story gets better, the gameplay is finally awesome, the characters, so many little treasures to be had in this game. The ending, however, through me for a huge loop, for many reasons. The game is wort buying and experiencing, but be wary of the ending. it will be an emotional punch in the gut that will leave you with more questions than answers.

I loved ME3. And I'm completely convinced that the ending in the game is not "the ending". I like the indoctrination theory, and I think it was left open so they could create the right ending based on feedback.

I said it before, I'll say it again.
Mass Effect 3 was a fan-freaking-tastic game. The gameplay, the characters, the story, everything. I LOVE how it all came together...until the ending. Yes, I know we're all sick of talking about the ending, but what can I say? I didn't like it, but I certainly didn't hate it either. It was just so...I mean, what happens?!
The only comfort I get from the ending is that at least Liara is alive :) (Which frankly doesn't make sense since I took her along for the final mission. If I would have known better, I would've left her and Garrus behind but yet there she is, coming out of the Normandy at the end.) Doesn't matter, at least she's alive.

Your last two sentences. I couldn't have said it better myself. Exactly.

Like damn near everyone else, I loved 95% of ME3. That 95% was one of the best games I have ever played.

The only parts I didn't like was some of the Geth-Quarian business and, well... yeah... that execrable fucking ending.

I thought it was awesome, and since finishing it, I've replayed all three games.

Biggest complaint is the final ten minutes. It's awful, but since the universe is set to go on, it's not hard to see why they didn't give us the closure many of us expected. When the next game comes out and we reconnect with our old friends, people will likely downgrade their anger to simple disappointment in a poor deus ex machina ending to an otherwise fine story.

Other than that, the only complaint (bordering on quibble) are the Earth levels. The game becomes a grind once you start the final mission, so prepare yourself for a couple of hours of traveling through a bunch of burnt out streets battling seemingly endless waves of monsters.

Awww, don't say that. I was out of my seat cheering by the end of that Grunt scene. :p

But yeah, loved just about all of it. A little less moping from Shepard woulda been nice, but I'll let 'em have that. The ending might not have been what I woulda done, but I was satisfied with it. My only disappointment was that I couldn't see what happened to the new universe I left behind.
