Now before any Valve fanboys start yelling at me, hear me out.

What I mean by this is, before ld4 came out Valve's fans where I guess you could call them intuecuals (spelling?) of gaming, what I mean by that is these people (including myself) like a good story, some nice action but not full on action, use good teamwork, and needed to have the mental capacity to solve a strew of puzzles.

These gamers are generaly people in there 20s and 30s, they are smart and not annoying.

Now comes Left 4 Dead, now every Valve fan will still check this game out but many will not like it as much as previos Valve games because of a lack of story, little varity, and no more puzzles. Now Left 4 Dead may still be a good game but never as good as the Half Life series.

But to many non Valve fans, this game is a gift from god, these gamers enjoy non stop action, generaly no story, and some may enjoy teamwork. Now nothing is wrong with this type of gamer, except one thing, more than half of them are WHINNEY, ANNOYING, TWATS.

These gamers are generaly in the ages from 5 to 20 (most), and are generaly high pitched voices whining everytime they die because they ran away from the group.

Now this may not describe every gamer that likes this genra but this seems to be the majority.

Now you may ask, well how do these gamers destroy an entire company.

Now lets talk buisness, lets say (completely hypotheticaly) a game like Half Life 2 sells 1 million, this is the number of the intuecual gamers.

Now lets say a game like Left 4 Dead sells 2 million copies, many of these gamers are the latter, while some may be the intuecual gamer, the majority is the action gamer.

So if you sell twice as much on one game then another, your going to follow the money and make more games like this.

Now I am NOT afraid that Half Life 2 epsiode 3 will be hurt because of this, but what about after Half Life 2 episode 3. I am afraid that valve will start following the money and cater to the 10 year old who think that "action games are teh shits man, KILL KILL KILL."

I have already seen people hate Half Life because they played L4D first and said there wasn't enough action.

I am just worried that Valve will follow the money and slowly start ditching their creativity to more games like L4D, I may be right I may be wrong but i think Valve is slowly starting to deteriorate.

EDIT: Fuck it, I quit, anyone new to reading this forum, keep in mind that I am no longer looking at it and all messages sent to me will be deleted instantly.

And for anyone wanting to fix my spelling, I don't care, I'm jugling 3 [second] languages at the moment (French, Italian and Spanish) so my speling isn't as good as it could be.

I don't think that it will ruin Valve. The whole "Kill ,kill, kill" thing was done on purpose, as it is meant to be an actiony romp through hordes of undead baddies hell bent on gnawing on your goolies.

I disagree. I played the valve box first, I hated it all.

I realy like L4D. I dont apreciate you saying that you dont think L4D fans are intellectual, but I respect your oppinion.

L4D just appeals more to me than half life, wich I felt was to generic.

Oh wellz.

We all have our oppinions.

edit: You know what, I cant pretend to be civil about this.

I thought Half Life was a load of $%#@ and I thought Portal was boring as anything.
I felt that TF was a COD or GOW wanabee, and I thought Valve was just a sespool of shite.

Then L4D came along.

And I loved it.

So I don't apreciate you bashing L4D fans just because you dont like L4D.

I dont like Half Life, you dont like L4D.

Were different. I like action, you like whatever Half Life is. (Puzzles?)

I dont bash you, so please dont bash me,

Absolutely not, I think valve will continue to be a great game company. Even though I am one of those seething idiots who hasn't played Half-Life and just bought Left 4 Dead. Albiet I'm a few years out of your 5-20(really, 5-20? You really think 5 year olds play this game?) range.

What the FUCK? Half Life 2 sold over 6 million copies (not counting the orange box or steam sales), and L4D has sold no where near that many. Also, HL2 is as action packed as L4D (except for the odd seesaw puzzle, and after Episode 3, Valve are making more Half Life games. And I resent the assumption that all gamers under 18 are whiny pricks. I, and my friends are not, and please, stop using this shitty stereotype.

Check out some of the rage quitting/ TKing videos on youtube. You would swear that granting them the age rating of 5 is being generous.

Left 4 Dead did not ruin valve it branched it out and allowed it to make more money. It didnt ruin Valve. It added to Valve's already incredible list of games. The people who play it may be annoying but on which games isnt their annoying little runts complaining that its someone elses fault. Team Fortress 2 also suffers from this problem.

EDIT: In other words. Dont blame the company or the games for who is inclined to pick them up.

Valve can run multiple projects at once no? It is a big company. If games like L4D bring in the dollars to help support other games that are fantastic and might not sell as well then why care? And I don't think anyone has to worry about the Half-life series. Thats what Valve built themselves on, seeing as how vocal Valve's fans seem to be lately (see L4D2 controversy) I don't think they would be ballsy enough to change the series after Ep 3.

They make a sequel to a cool game and suddenly they are ditching creativity? And what kind of stupid arse question is that, it brought them money.

Forgive me. This is a badly written pile of crap. Your arguments in no way lend any support to your conclusion. There also can be no support, since L4D is the last game that came out. You can't say "Valve games are deteriorating" if there haven't been any games to deteriorate. You just kind of rambled about how L4D fans are annoying.

And it doesn't take much intellectual capacity to solve a see-saw puzzle.

If you really want some reassurance, no, no creativity will be sacrificed. Portal was incredibly creative, and it's insanely popular. Valve will go for the money, and creativity does sell.

No. No to everything you said. Not only that but your whole HL2 buyers are "intellectuals" and somehow L4D buyers aren't is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard of. Way to stereotype man, good job.

I didn't say that all Left 4 Dead gamers are unintuecuals, just most, it seems every time I boot up L4D i always seem to find way more little kids then adults or "teamworkers"

Ehhh... I've never been that into valve games. Half-life two (the only one of the first two I was actually able to play) was weirdly laid out, and I rarely had a sense of what I was supposed to be doing. As with L4D I quickly grew bored of that. Portal is about the only one I really liked.

I don't think so. The fan-base of Half-Life is big and loyal, while the action fan-base is more fluctuating. And the workers at Valve are loyal to their fans. The Left 4 Dead fans will come and go, but I'm guessing the Half-Life fans will stay for a long time.

OK, that was a little harsh, but I don't think we need to be worrying about it any time soon.

Half-life is a masterpiece, i just got lost on water hazard.

Games need the balance between linear and not linear. i think L4D did that pretty nicely.

Wrong wrong wrong, this is like, uber (hehe) narrow minded. I think you and Left 4 Dead need to sit down and talk out your differences.

I've played half life 2 and onwards, and the origional half life. I bought orange box before L4D. I found half life to have some inspired level design and very clever artistic direction, with some interesting puzzles.

The actual combat I found to be sometimes generic, though remember I AM a 360 gamer.

Left 4 Dead is different, I found the combat to be perfectly adapted to give you brief, satisfying encounters. As well as the drama of a good campaign. I prefer the game considerable.
