I ask you this now, what did you think of the Fourth Generation of Pokemon? Looking back now, I really enjoyed it. It had a lot of cool new Pokemon like Lucario and Garchomp, and the legendaries looked badass especially Giratina and Darkrai.

Team Galactic was actually a decent villainous team, and had good music too!

The 4th generation was what brought me back to Pokemon, and yeah, I think D/P/Pt had the best collection of battle music over all the other games.

Edit: Wow, before typing this post you had I different avatar, after posting it I now see Palkia and Dialga. Nice!

Well I sort of agree with it having the best overall music, but nothing beats the Deoxys theme!

Hehe thanks, I like to alter it depending on what game I'm into at the moment. :p

Need to work on my gif making skills though. it's a bit shoddy

I didn't like it. I got up to just before the Elite 4 and just stopped. I got tired of the same old Pokemon formula and I didn't like the monster designs. Pokemon was always one of my favourite series and partly what got me in to gaming in the first place, but I haven't really been back to the series since.

Not as much as Gen 3 or 5, but yeah. I guess it was pretty good. Had nice starters, and you have to respect it for the physical/special split.

The legendaries were cool. So were Lucario and Garchomp.

That too.

I heavily disliked the starters, though. All of them. Only Gen where I've chosen my starter as the one I dislike the least, rather than the one I like the most.

Its 3rd for me, after Gen 3 and Gen 5. It was a very good game, no doubts about it, but it lacked something, something that I can never seem to pin down. It had a relatively interesting region, and cynthia was awesome (best champion ever) but despite the good enemies, decent story and significant gameplay improvements, I just never found it as fun. Platinum fixed some of this, with the epic battle frontier which I spent hours and hours on (and was really fun to do with a friend). The battle castle in particular was very engaging.

After 3 turned me off on Pokemon, 4 brought me back.

It was far from perfect, of course (Rhyperior? Seriously, what am I looking at!? And don't get me started on how Chimchar is just a wannabe Charmander, Sun Wukong tribute be damned) but at least it was generally more agreeable than a lot of things in 3rd gen....

It's my favorite pokemon generation. I liked the actual environment of the region with all the snow and lakes and mountains and stuff quite a bit. I appreciated the philosophy of giving all the older pokemon something new to do with all the (pre)evolutions, although the designs were all around a little hit or miss. All in all though, it had Torterra, it had a lot of fun little fiddly DS features, it had good atmosphere, and it was best at feeding into the compulsive gotta catch em all mentality with features that almost demanded you play every day. My one criticism is how excruciatingly slow the battle speed was.

Who the fuck didn't?

It's probably the best generation (Tied with 2nd) in terms of improvement.

It's number 3 on my top ten list of games along with gold and silver

Also the epicness of Empoleon is in it.

The best legendary music IMO is either the Regi or the 5th generation roaming theme (thundrus, I'd post it here but I'm on iPhone)

Definitely and it was worth to buy the DS for that game. I think that is the most hours I had put into a Pokemon game as I played every inch of it (trying to catch them all, discover the secret stuff, playing ALOT of the underground minigame, rasing them and etc).

Save Pokemon Gold, I have poured the most hours into Pokemon Platinum of all gens. I've had many different playthroughs with different teams each time. I actually liked all three of the starters.

Gen IV was memorable for many things. So yes, I did enjoy it. Very much so.

Same exact freakin' story, all the way down to never returning to Pokemon. At least I was rocking with a Lucario during it.

Oh yeah, I really liked it. Lucario and Gliscor are among my favorite Pokemon and Cyrus was pretty effective villain.

It was alright, wasn't anywhere near as good as the previous generations. But its more palatable than the 5th generation

I thought 4th gen overall was just OK. I loved the music, some of the Pokemon designs were cool, and the upgrades to battling were nice. But everything else was pretty lackluster. I couldn't really get invested into Team Galactic like I did with previous teams, it did nothing to make me want to take advantage of the contests, and save for Cynthia I don't remember the Elite 4 or the Gym Leaders for that matter.

Loved it at the time, but after I chewed through it I kind of forgot everything but the Pokémon. Gen 5 hasn't had this problem so far (though I don't like the Pokémon as much).

Still, Gen IV was my return to Pokémon, so it was doing something right.
