I know you're not being serious, but... why?

Are you one of those people who only like Gen 1 and Gen 1 alone, disregarding all else?

Overall it's probably my least favorite generation, but I still loved the hell out of it. I wasn't a big fan of the music and I thought the starters felt a little boring. There were also far too many legendaries.

It is, however, my favorite generation in terms of competitive play. Gen 1 was filled with overpowered psychics, Gen 2 was infamous for stall, Gen 3 wasn't bad but it just felt a bit bland to me, and Gen 5 is all over the place right now. Around the end, Gen 4 just seemed like it had a pretty balanced metagame that still allowed for some fancy innovation in team design.

basically. i played pokemon red but never felt like playing any of the other pokemon games. pokemon red was like my intro to rpgs but by the time the sequels started coming out, more of the same just didnt appeal to me.

with the series that was also like my intro into anime. i got as far as ash losing the tournament and then watched one or two episodes of the orange islands or whatever it was and then just lost interest. probably partially because i didnt care about the games anymore and partly because, by that point i was really in to dragon ball z. ah to be young again...

Yes, adults that what to play some of the best and versatile RPG experiences in existence.

A person that calls them shitty is wearing some awful big blinders.
If you don't care about innovation, smart gameplay, dialogue, story, characters and art design I suppose you are right.
Now I don't know if you have awful big blinders on or you are a troll, because the games have had all of those thing in great quantity and quality since the first game and to the latest.

It is easily apparent to anybody that has played all the games or even a person that just halfheartedly looked at the differences and changes between the games.

Every generation has changed greatly in some form or another since the first gen. Dialogue and story are things that are subjective, because people find different story styles interesting, even more childish ones. One of the big points of video games is that they are suppose to be an escape from reality, to take our minds off of real-life. I highly doubt this site would be called the Escapist if that wasn't the case. The dialogue and story are also subjective because not everybody plays the pokemon games for story. For me, it usually isn't in the top five reasons why I play each pokemon game.

Characters are also subjective because they are part of story and dialogue. And finally, Art, that is one of the most subjective things in the world. Not everybody is going to like an art style. Art is based in opinion. In my opinion, the art in pokemon games has vastly improved since the original gen.

Pokemon gameplay is easily smart. While for the most part it is linear, players can advance at their own pace and they have such a vast array of pokemon and moves to mix and match into teams that the experience in battles can be different every time. With every new team I make in my White version, I have had to change my play style, the way I deploy and use them. Yes the game has grinding, but every RPG I have played has had grinding in some form or another, it is a staple of the genre, even if some people won't admit that they've done some grinding in their beloved game.

So in the end, the first half of the points you made in your bare bones non-developed argument are wrong, while the second half are all subjective and mean nothing.

Considering how you don't go into any detail and that you made a thoughtless and uneducated jab with no qualifiers, I'm willing to bet that you are here because you want to hate on something popular. You apparently don't want to partake in a serious discussion, which is what this forum is about(unless specifically stated by the OP of the thread).
