We now have at least six inches on the ground and will continue as the weather intensifies for a total of 12-18 inches. At the height of it I will be at work, since I'm the only one crazy enough to show up.

Nope. They canceled evening classes at the university yesterday, but since I wasn't actually there for any classes it didn't really mean much to me, since the campus itself was not closed and I was working until 5PM.

Roads were clear enough that nothing was canceled this morning, though if it keeps up snowing like it is now we may see more cancellations later in the day (probably after my course ends).

The heavy "oh noes, we have 3 feet of snow covering the driveway now!" snowfall happened late in the day on Friday, so we got all of the inconvenience and none of the time off, heh.

We don't get much snow in west Texas but every so often we get enough to shut the city down. While everyone else at my place of employment can potentially enjoy a random day off due to weather, I'm not one of them. I'm in charge of the computer systems at a credit union and if it is a day that we are supposed to be open, there are files from the Federal Reserve Bank that must be run else they get all pissy. The good news is I can do all that from home so I don't have to risk that seexy muscle car on iced over roads.

LOL. Cold there. I'm sure global warming doesn't keep you up at night with worry.

Sorry to hear that. It is hardly snowing here in Boston Mass, but we somehow managed to guilt someone into giving me 3.5 hours off to get home early. I have had a lot of fun since then. Watched Yahtzi, and played Xbox real world golf... and Uncharted 2. I'm stuck there.

Anyone get some time off?

No because my superintendent is a very silly man when you can clearly see that the roads are clogged with a foot of snow!

No, I didn't :)
It is snowing in Toronto, but not enough to close workplaces or schools. It is a big Slurpee out there

Update: I'm in Baltimore and the winds are horrible right now coupled with snowfall. And, no joke, a bird just smashed against my window. It's friggin' terrible outside. Baltimore has also been using bucket loaders to clear the streets because a number of plows have broken down or can't handle the job. But atleast I don't have school.

It only snowed slightly while I was on my way to college, then a bit during Philosophy, then nothing after that.
Surprisingly, there was no sign that it had snowed when I left college.
The ground was dry, no sign of any snow, despite all that came down during my Philosophy lesson...
If it does decide to snow more, I may get some time off college.

I really don't see the big deal with a bunch of snow. I was once snowed inn so I had to call the school to let them know that i wassnt coming. Even then I only got half a day off school.

had a half day. and it all seemed to be pointless because there is barely any snow on the ground.

Yep, tis a blizzard out there.

Of course, this is a big suprise considering my district's no-days-off-unless-people-die policy.

A few weeks ago the roads were so iced-over that 3 buses, several students (arriving by car), and almost 20% of teachers almost didn't make it to school (my biology teacher slid off the road, and was almost hit by a toyota going 60mph, while spinning in circles). Then the school lost power.

It's a miracle that nobody died.

I live near Vancouver. We had an inch of snow this year. Which sucks, because I really like snow. =/
