With year 11 coming to a close for me and everybody starting to talk about the end of year prom, i had to wonder. Who did go to their high school prom?.
I decided not to because, well why would I want to spend time with people I ether never talked to or were massive tossers when I could spend time with people I would go so far as to call freinds. Thats how Im spending my prom night, a grand get-together of 8-10 freinds to play games into the night.
How about you?

Good on you - I would rather play games with friends ANY DAY rather than go to prom. Unless you have a significant other or you're a gigantic twat, prom isn't anything more than overhyped garbage. Then again, maybe my opinion is skewed - I only went to my prom for the 'afterparty', which involved me vomitting my guts out for 12 hours straight (2AM to 2PM). FUN!

I only went in Year 11 for the new experience; it wasn't something I'd get to try every year. The two times after that were just for the hell of it, and to be with my friends for the night. Since the end of Year 13 I've pretty much lost contact with them.

I never had a date for a Ball (the New Zealand equivalent of prom). I tried inviting someone to go with me once, but it didn't work out that well. Such is the life of someone with no relationship experience. I'm a level 1 in that skill, and that's not likely to change any time soon.

Day of my Prom, I went paintballing instead. Much more fun and more my style than ponsing about in a tuxedo or whatever

I did not.

See, my girlfriend had recently broken up with me (in a very bitchy manner if I might add), and so I was very distraught at that point in life. Then, during the rehearsal of the prom, in which three schools come together and the students dance with each other, my ex, who had claimed that she broke up with me because she didn't want a boyfriend, was asked to dance by another guy. Next day, they were together.

I'm not saying that she doesn't have the right to fall in love with someone else, but the fact that she did was kind of a hard blow to me, and I couldn't handle going to the prom.

I dont see why people would want to spend time with people they never talked to, or liked.
You should probebly spend time with the people you WILL be sad to lose contact with rather than the twats that you want to forget.

Nope. Not interested in over-hyped stuff like that. If I want something over-hyped, I'll go see Avatar again. At least that gets me a good movie.

I went . . . and hated it. For some reason I would go again though :/
You get one chance at High school so might as well experience the good and bad.

Not to the year 11 prom, but our Sixth Form had a prom, so I went to that. It was, generally, boring as hell, the only good part was that I had an excuse to suit up. I do that now without an excuse, but that's not the point... Basically, unless you're one of the 'cool kids' it's the most boring experience ever created.

Prom hasn't happened yet for me, but I wasn't planning on going in the first place. I DO plan on going to an after party at a friends house.

It's become and inside joke between my buddies over who is taking who. One hilarious scenario: Me and Friend A have to fight to the death to see who goes with Friend B. And all three of us are guys. Well, I DID say it was an inside joke, so it makes sense in context.

I went, and it was the most boring, over-hyped, ***** fest of the school year. I didn't like anyone, and they didn't like me. I only went because my mum made me, since the (bloody hideous) dress cost so much.

It was amazing.

Me and my friend stayed inside to design our adventure game.

I know it sounds extremely sad but that night we were laughing, letting our imgination run loose, etc... I think I would have enjoyed it more than being socially awkward at the prom. I'm definately going this year however.

I didn't. The tickets alone would have cost me my entire savings. My friend had to sell his PS3 and his entire game collection so that he could go. It really is not worth the price. Too boring, too overhyped.
