I did not.

See, my girlfriend had recently broken up with me (in a very bitchy manner if I might add), and so I was very distraught at that point in life. Then, during the rehearsal of the prom, in which three schools come together and the students dance with each other, my ex, who had claimed that she broke up with me because she didn't want a boyfriend, was asked to dance by another guy. Next day, they were together.

I'm not saying that she doesn't have the right to fall in love with someone else, but the fact that she did was kind of a hard blow to me, and I couldn't handle going to the prom.
Surely you have enough connections with people on this site to have them 'taken care of'?

And, well, I don't really intend to. Unless I get a girlfriend that's into that sort of thing before then, I really could think of a dozen better things than being around people I spent the last five years fantasizing about killing.

I dont see why people would want to spend time with people they never talked to, or liked.
You should probebly spend time with the people you WILL be sad to lose contact with rather than the twats that you want to forget.
My school is having a system that you have to behave well and do work to fill out this "passport to the prom". This way most tossers wont be there and most people I know are going except the one's which are the type to avoid contact with everyone even if they arent idiots. Do you think you would go if the idiots werent there?

I certainly didn't go to my formal; I opted instead to stay at home and spend time with people I found to be less reprehensible than those in my year. I believe Alex Mercer was one of them.

Yeah, I'm going and I've got a date (going as friends, if you must know). I like wearing suits, and it should be fun, so why not?

I didn't go to mine.
Because
1)It would be filled with people I don't know or people that get on my nerves
2)I don't like dancing and absolutely just can't dance.
3)I hate wearing fancy suits and such.

There was no reason to go, so I spent the day ice skating/hanging out with my friends.

Well if you were a really friendly guy and have friends in every class you WOULD wanna go to prom. Then your job there is just to avoid the twats and spend time with your friends.
Which would be exactly what I would be doing at the end of this year.
But for now, God damn GCEs.

I didn't go to prom. I didn't see the point since I didn't have any friends that were going, I don't really go places much, even with friends, and I don't date.

Yes I did, unfortunately. Got (almost) bullied into going by the people who organised it...
What a waste of money. Really wish I didn't go, but it was the last time I spent with some of the people from my school, so it wasn't all bad.
Just most of it was.

I never went to mine. I just don't have any interest in that kind of thing. The one time I went to anything like it, I was bored the whole time, so I don't think it would have been worth wasting the money again.

I went. it was ok.But we had to leave early because we drove through the night to go to a rockfestival. Me and a dozen of my best buddies from schools, 4 cars, walky-talkies, a lot of booze and the road to a weekend of party and rock'n roll!
That was the real big farewell to school.

I'm supposed to be going to my Debs (Irish version of a prom). Have ticket, have suit, have date.

But knowing how my mind works I will wind up forgetting and doing something else that night (i.e. general debauchery)

I went to my year 12 ball. It sucked. It was the most overhyped, overpriced school event ever. The only good thing about it was afters.

I went in expecting an awesome night. I had to wait until early morning for it to get good. I usually like school social events but the ball was shit boring. Probably because the suits were uncomfortable and the band was rubbish.

Worst spent $340 of my life.
