Faster than Jay could realise, he was transported from the comfort of his chair and the familiar glow of his computer monitor to about 3 meters above the ground. Suddenly falling, Jay became alert and his mind was set ablaze with thoughts, memories. He had no idea what was going on and began to think he was going to die for a split second, and a split second later, a fragment of his life flashed in his mind before Jay fell to the strangely springy ground below. The impact hurt slightly, miles less than he thought.

Dazed, and in a bit of pain, Jay got up and looked around the area. It was like a kid's playground turned huge, as if Jay had been shrunk down while in a nursery.

"What... what in the world... is this?" Jay said in fear and awe.

"I don't think you're on about the right world anymore." A voice said behind him.

Jay bolted around to see a white bunny type thing, but it had short stubby legs beneath it's porky, inflated body, it's ears were incredibly thin, rosy cheeks and its entire face was adorable and the picture of happiness. Jay took one look at it and forgot someone said anything and presumed it was a plush doll to go with the rest of the giant nursey.

"Oh my..." He said under his breath and reached out to it, "It's so cute."

"Hey," the plush toy yelped leaping backwards, "no touching, we only just met you idiot."

"AHHHHHHHH!" Jay screamed quickly, scrambling away, "Y-you're no toy!"

"Do I look like a toy to you, moron?"

"Well, you looked really cute before you started talking to me!"

"Cute?!" The chubby rabbit looked livid. "Do I look so cute when I do this?" Tokomon then opened his mouth and displayed such a ravenous, menacing and terrifying set of teeth that Jay could only respond in a manner similar to before;
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AAAAAAH AAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"Shut up you big baby!" Tokomon shouted in his squeaky, adorable voice, "You'll deafen me before I even know who you are."

"Who am I?" Jay said in panic, "Who are you? What is this? What's going on?"

The bunny sighed, "In order, I'm Tokomon, a Digimon, this is the Digital World and you and I are gonna be partners."

"T...tokomon?"

"That's me."

"A...Digimon?"

"Me again."

"Digital... world?"

"Where we are."

"And we're...partners?"

"Do you have a personality or do you just like copying what other people say slowly?"

Jay recoiled slightly at the hostility coming from the adorable, talking, plump, white bunny rabbit. "S-sorry."

"Whatever," Tokomon declared, "Just tell me who you are now, now I've satisfied your mad curiosities."

Jay looked up at Tokomon before turning his gaze to the floor beneath him. Not one sliver of what was happening made even a minute bit of sense, regardless of what angle Jay's mind approached it from. Digital World? How did he get here? Did he cross worlds from the one he knew? How is that possible? The last thing he remembered was sitting at his computer. If this was a "Digital World", then does that mean that he was inside his computer, or something along those lines? This only added more questions to the growing swamp of statements that lacked an answer.

"Hey!" Tokomon barked, "Your name! Tell me your name!"

Jay shot his head up to Tokomon, "I'm Jay, Jay Asher."

"Jay Jay Asher? You humans really are weird."

[hr]

Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, thought a rushing Calumon, running around, looking panicked and clutching his head. He had one job, to gather all the humans and tell them what they ought to do, and he wasn't doing a good job at that! They all went to different places around the place, and going around picked them up one by one was gonna take more time than Calumon had! He needed to get back to working the place soon! Eggs don't run themselves, y'know! Why'd I have to get picked for this?

He knew why, and he hated that reason sometimes. Sometimes.

"I got it!" Calumon said, and ran up to the little toy box Calumon kept to entertain the freshly hatched Digimon and began rummaging. He pulled out a shiny tin whistle and, after the deepest of deep inhales, blew with all the air his little body had in it.

[HEADING=3]*PWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*[/HEADING]

Calumon fell down breathless. "That... oughta... get their... attention, haha," he giggled slightly before realising they might not know completely where that came from. Calumon gritted his teeth and moaned. "Aw nuts, I don't like having to do this so much, it's so hard..."

He got up, still slightly short on his breath, placed his hands on his head, and concentrated hard. After a short while, a great red beam shout out from a symbol on his forehead, straight into the sky.

Please see it! He thought, This is really tricky to keep on!

[hr]

"So just Jay then?"

"Yes."

"So why'd you say it twice?"

"Uhhh, it's sort of a formality where humans come from."

"Wow, humans are weird," Tokomon repeated, "I mean, you say you're names twice for no reason and you sit scrambled on the floor without moving when talking to people."

Jay looked at himself and realised he was sprawled out on the floor, supporting himself with his arms, in a panicked posture, and had been since Tokomon first spoke. Banishing that stance, he stood up and brushed himself down.

"I imagined you taller." Tokomon mentioned.

"I, uh, hear that a lot." Jay said, feeling slightly hurt at another stab at his small size and stature to add to the many he got every day. Some things don't change, even when travelling across worlds. "So ummm... partners?"

"Yeah, partners, we gotta go find Calumon?"

"Calumon?"

"Again with the repeating?"

"Sorry, I'm just confused."

"Well, Calumon will help you with that, because I'm pretty sure he knows more than I do." Tokomon then began hopping around the area. "Now if I was Calumon where would I..."

[HEADING=3]*PWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*[/HEADING]

"...Right there!"

The ear piercing tone echoed across the entire area. There wouldn't be a soul alive that wouldn't be able to hear that, and Tokomon had sense. It was Calumon, it had to be. The only other Digimon here were baby, so it was a sound bet this was Calumon, as any Digimon here could guess. It was made even more obvious by, seconds later, a beam shooting up into the sky, clearly pinpointing where Calumon was right now.

"C'mon, we gotta get to him."

And so Jay followed the white bunny towards "Calumon", not knowing what was in store for him. For all he knew, he was in a dream. A part of him wished it was. The other part wished it wasn't. A cocktail of both fear and excitement filled his body as he ran along after the rabbit that was leading him, and it intoxicated him the energy to move forward despite a deep urge to curl up and cry.

Well, I'm doing better today than most days then.

As the two newly meet partners where walking around, many baby Digimon where looking up at them, it was like they where looking at a returning hero, they had never seen a human before, the only thing close they have ever seen that comes close to him was an Angemon, but they knew the difference, and let alone one with a Digimon on his shoulder. They where awe struck.

"Um... this feels weird, why are they all looking at us?" Brad asked, feeling very strange at the little black balls with yellow eyes and plants looking at them. Zero only smiled, he could only imagine how his new friend felt, He was around a bunch of creatures that he had never seen, plus a purple football sitting on his shoulder that knew his name already.

"Its ok Brad, they wont bite, unless we find Tokomon... but thats another story, They just have never seen a human before, they are just wondering what you are." He said as he crawled to Brad's other shoulder.

'Man, im sure accepting this quick, i guess i might as well, no use fighting it right?' Brad thought as he smiled and rubbed Zero's soft fur with his hand.

"I guess i can understand that, I feel the same way about them... So, where is this place we got to go anyway?"

"We got to go to Calumon's place, Its..."

[HEADING=1] *PWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* [/HEADING]

"Right over there, it would seem." Zero said, looking up with his partner to see the giant triangular red diamond in the sky, signaling everyone in the area to his location.

"I guess he knows where we are, shall we?" Zero asked with a smile.

With a smile back, Brad ran towards the diamond in the sky, He just had to see where this was going to lead him, this world had so many interesting things in it, He wanted to see it all!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As they reached the center of town, the first thing Brad saw was a house that looked like it was built out of giant legos, no color scheme whatsoever, as if a 3 year old had built it, it even had a chimney to boot, a house truly fitting of a Digimon such as Calumon.

As the little white and purple digimon turned around, He had to look up to see the human and one of his old friends, Zero.

"Yea yea yea! Zero! you're here!" Calumon cried as he jumped into the air and flying over with his massive ears, landing on Brad's other shoulder.

"Hey Calu! its good to see you again!" Zero said with exuberance as he saw one of his oldest friends.

It was amazing, Brad had two creatures on his shoulders and it felt like nothing at all, just what where these creatures made out of?

"Whos this giant? Did he come down from a Beanstalk?" Calumon said with a puzzled look, poking Brad in the cheek.

"No silly! This is my partner!"

"So this is Brad? Its nice to meet you Mr.Giant Brad!" Calumon yelled, Hugging Brad's cheek.

This little guy's pep was infectious, Brad could not help but smile and laugh as Calumon introduced himself.

"Its nice to meet you too Calumon." He said, laughing along with his partner and the new little digimon. As they smiled, It dawned on Calumon that the human was here for a reason.

"If your here Mr. Brad, that means the others must be here as well! Yea! YEA! More friends!"

Brad looked puzzled.

"You mean more humans?" Brad asked, more confused now then ever.

"Yep Yep Yep! They should be here any second now!"

"He must be in here" Chirped the Tanemon, voices overlapping to the point of near gibberish, as they lead Richard and a thoroughly annoyed Tsunomon to the third building they were sure Calumon would be.

Shockingly, Calumon was not in that building either.

"Why would we ever think to look for him in there?" Said one of the Tanemon as they left the building.

"Yeah!" shouted another. "He's obviously-

[HEADING=1]*PWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE[/HEADING]

As the loud whistle stopped, the Tanemon began chatting amongst themselves.

"What was that? Should we go look for it?"Said one, turning this way and that to see if she could see what it was making the noise.

"Why not? It's just that way" said another, pointing off towards the other side of town.

"Nu uh! It's that way!" Shouted another in return, pointing towards the forest they had just came from.

Before a great "Nu uh-Yeah huh" debate could be started, a brilliant beam of red light shot up into the sky, clearly marking a point that any thinking creature would use to meet up.

"Ooooh, maybe that's were it came from! And maybe Calumon caused it!" Mock-chirped Tsunomon, feeling some measure of amusement, however minimal, at there childishness.

"Your right! No time to wait!"Cheered almost all the Tanemon, the mocking tone going completely over their head.
[hr]

As they reached the origin of the red light and saw that yes, Calumon did cause it, The Tanemon began dispersing, though they did not go very far, choosing instead to peek around corners, much like many of the other Digimon that had come to see what the signal was aout.

"We ain't got much of choice in this, do we? Well, let's get this over with" Said Tsunomon. Richard's only response was to nervously clasped his hands, though he did follow Tsunomon regardless.

"Hey Minomon."

"Yeah?"

"When you said to find Calumon I thought you might, y'know, actually know where he was," Pete grumbled.

The pair had been wandering for a while in search of, the apparently rather elusive, Calumon for quite a while now. Pete had no idea of the geographical layout and Minomon, while familiar with the area, was still unsure of where exactly Calumon was. Pete's usual enthusiasm was being stretched to its limit, and Minomon wasn't helping any.

"Well he's got legs you know, not my fault that he wasn't where I'd thought he'd be."

Pete sighed. "Well, between the two of us we're not making mu-

*PWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*

The human threw a questioning look at his Digimon partner "you think that was him?"

"Yep that was Calumon, no doubt about it. Look that's his signal." The small insectoid Digimon pointed with his tiny arms at a beam of red light shining from a cluster of nearby buildings.

Pete ran towards the signal light and in the distance saw a small white Digimon with large purple tipped ears. Accompanying the Digimon was a figure that, even from this distance, was quite distinctly human. On the human's shoulder was what appeared to be, at least from Pete's perspective, a small purple blob with a speck of white at its front. For a brief moment Pete's heart soared. He wasn't as alone as he thought. There was at least one more human in this crazy place.

"Well Minomon, I think we ought to go say hi, don't you?"

Pete ran towards the human that he saw. As he slowed to a gentle stroll he noticed not just one human but several each with their own accompanying Digimon.

Pete raised his hand in a lazy wave and addressed the group.

"Yo! I'm Pete, but you can call me PJ, y'know, if you want to."

The small Digimon, still in his hair, coughed loudly and gestured with his head.

"Oh.I guess I should also introduce my partner Minomon."

Jay and Patamon arrived to the origin of the beam to see the source. A little guy, no bigger than Jay's ankles was the reason for the beam but he wasn't what Jay's focus was. Other Humans were. A number of them, all introducing one another. A weight left Jay's shoulders as he walked up to the group. "So glad I'm not alone here," He said, showing his relief in his voice, "I'm Jay, so pleased to see you all."

Not two minutes after Ophelia had started toward her destination of the building block "buildings" did that piercing shrill fill the air. Stopping in her tracks with a slight bounce and looking around to locate the source, she didn't have to seek it out long. Mere moments after the noise ceased, a bright red column of light shot forth into the sky. The beam spread outward slightly as it ascended, but seemed to be coming from a single point somewhere just ahead of them! Hardly even breaking a sweat, Ophelia placed her hands on her hips and cocked her head, curious and intrigued.

"Huh. That's something you don't see everyday. You were right all along, little guy! Let's go see what the ruckus is about!"

Tsumemon didn't dare open his eye after all that had transpired to him in the past few moments. Merely clutching Ophelia's waist all the tighter with his claws, he made no reaction to the light or the noise. He just wanted to go back to his hole. With a shrug at Tsumemon's inattentiveness, Ophelia launched forward once more, breathing steadily as she ran towards their new destination. Coming up just over a particularly large hill, Ophelia looked down to see a gathering of more adorable creatures, and to her surprise, more humans!

There wasn't any time to lose!

Making her way down the hill and taking advantage of the bouncy nature the technicolor ground possessed, Ophelia pushed herself into the air as she neared the bottom. Doubling over herself and clutching her knees and she spiraled into a flip midair, Ophelia stuck the landing without issue. Tsumemon only winced. Bouncing right back up into posture as she found herself amongst the small gathering of new people with their own assorted (and totally cute) creatures, Ophelia proudly broke the silence.

"Hi everybody! The name's Ophelia! You can call me "Oph" for short, either way is fine with me! What's going on?!"

A smile on her face and volume in her tone, Ophelia remained where she was, her hands now behind her head in a gesture of relaxation, not even the slightest notion of worry to be found. Looking down to see Tsumemon unchanged as well as unfazed, Ophelia merely sighed and patted his closed eye at her midsection. Their personalities could not be more opposite.

"Okay, good enough for me. Two questions though: What's your name, and do you play?" Missimon asked, sounding rather excited again despite his setbacks the last time he played. Ben was a bit taken aback by that, but he answered.

"Well, my name is Ben, and yeah, I play all kinds of things." he answered, but that only made Missimon back off and then do a spiral up into the air.

"Alright! We are gonna be BEST FRIENDS!" he shouted at the top of his lungs. Ben simply stared up at him unsure what to think or say while Puroromon laid his face in one of his pointed hands.

Puroromon laid his head down in his small, clawed hands while Missimon did circles high up in the air. Right not it was indistinguishable that he'd either made a friend or had gotten into Calumon's secret stash of cookies. A moment later he turned his attention to Ben.

"I'm just going to apologize up front for him. You clearly have no idea what you've gotten yourself into." Puroromon assured him before looking back up at his partner. Ben looked too as he responded.

"Well, let's see. I'm in a completely different world...still trying to work that one out, I've met a talking bee and a talking arrowhead with arms, and you're warning me that I have no idea what I've gotten myself into. I think I'd tend to agree with you if I'd been the one that got me into this to begin with." Ben replied, before giving a shrug and looking back down at Puroromon, "Quite honestly, none of this makes sense, so right now I'm just going to go with the flow until it does."

The very notion of that made Puroromon smirk. Looking up at Missimon the wheels in his head started turning before he shouted up to him.

"Hey, come back down here, I need you for a demonstration!" Puroromon called up. Ben was immediately hesitant about the idea of a 'demonstration', but as long as it wasn't his neck on the line for it, he didn't say anything. Missimon, however, was somewhat more reluctant. He stopped in midair and looked back down to the bee before coming immediatly down with a suspicious look.

"A 'demonstration'? What if I don't want to?" Missimon questioned as Puroromon rolled his eyes.

"Come come now, we have a guest and you're going to question me in front of him? That's not very polite, is it?" he said with a rather patronizing tone. Missimon, however, clearly had reasons to be wary.

"Well, lets see, there was the time you needed me for a 'demonstration' and it turned out to be one of those big long machines that ended up flinging me all the way across the village. Then there was the diggy hole machine you built that you asked me to operate. The machine worked fine, you just 'neglected' to mention where the dirt would come out. How long did it take me to get out from under there? I thought I was going to DIE!" Missimon elaborated, prompting Puroromon to wave his front legs dismissively.

"This is nothing like those, and you got out fine, didn't you? So what are you complaining about. Look, just fetch some things for me. I need...one of those apples, you know the ones, and one of those dark rocks, and DON'T eat it before you get back, understand?" Puroromon told him. Missimon looked suspicious but turned his attention back to Ben for a moment and then the bee.

"Oh...alright, if that's all. I'll be right back." he said before taking off again into the village. In the meantime, Puroromon turned back to Ben, though it was Ben that spoke.

"So...what is this all about? Apples and rocks?" he asked, but Puroromon just gave a knowing nod.

"You'll see." he assured him. It took a few minutes but Missimon came back finally, with a golden yellow apple and a jagged, almost black rock. As soon as he came back he tossed them to Ben, which Ben nearly fumbled but managed to hold on to.

"Alright, got 'em! You...are gonna tell him, right?" Missimon asked as he looked back at his partner. Puroromon, on the other hand, looked thoughtful, but didn't respond. Missimon pressed the issue.

"Puroromon...no! You HAVE to tell him! That is TOO mean!" Missimon complained. Ben just stood there and looked at them, feeling very hesitant as he looked at the two digimon. However, Puroromon finally broke down and nodded.

"Oh well, I suppose that is rather mean. Alright then, Ben, you have an apple and a rock. Now, what do you do with an apple and a rock?" Puroromon asked, almost sounding condescending.

"Well, apples you eat, and rocks...hell if I know. It's a rock." he answered, still holding one in each hand. Puroromon nodded and flitted his wings, rising up off the ground. He hovered in front of Ben and took the rock.

"Lesson one in the digital world: Not everything is as it seems." he said, giving some considerable effort but eventually cracking the rock in half with his bare claws. However, the inside of the rock was not stone...but an apple, running with juice and peppered with seeds. Ben stood with a look of disbelief and astonishment.

"Wait...what? So...the rock is an apple? So...you eat rocks?" He asked while Puroromon tossed the halves of the apple rock and motioned for Missimon to come up as well.

"Yeah?" Missimon asked, but Puroromon just pointed at the apple.

"If you would be so kind." he said, looking at his partner, who looked more than a little unwilling.

"But...that's a..." Missimon said, his hesitation quite obvious. But Puroromon insisted.

"Come on, we want to show our new partner just what we're talking about, don't we? And I know that you can do it, so just give him a bit of a demonstration." Puroromon said, encouraging him. Missimon still looked hesitant, but seemed to be submitting to his request.

"Oh...alright, fine. Ben, hold the apple out, I don't want to miss and get you." Missimon instructed him as he looped around and took up his position. Ben was not at all hesitant and held the apple as far away as he could.

"MISSILE CRASH!!!" Missimon called out as the little rocket on his backside flared up with yellow flame. The little digimon shot forward like a rocket towards Ben's outstretched hand. However, at the last minute Ben let go of the apple and pulled his hand back, leaving the apple hanging in midair for just a moment. Missimon shot towards it and smacked headfirst into the golden yellow apple with a loud and noticeable *PING* before careening off in a different direction until the rocket finally flared out. The apple fell and hit the ground, where it was split neatly in two. Ben picked it up with a similar look as earlier.

"Is this..." he started to ask, but Puroromon interjected.

"It's a rock, that looks like an apple. Most people find out by losing a tooth, but Missimon insisted..." Puroromon said, actually sounding a little disappointed. Ben wasn't though.

"Well, guess I owe him one then. THis place is weird." he said, dropping half of the apple-rock on the ground since he had no use for it. At the same time, Missimon floated back down rubbing his head.

"WHy do I let you talk me into these things?" he asked, his metalic fingers touching over a small dent in the flat surface of his head.

"Because," Puroromon start, "You-"

Puroromon stopped where he was and picked his head up, looking up towards the center of the village. Already cut off, he opted to skip the explanation that he likely didn't have.

"Oh look, it's Calumon. Guess we need to go see him now." Puroromon insisted, which made Missimon just a little miffed.

"Hey, but you-" Missimon started only to be cut off by Puroromon again.

"We're going to see CALUMON! Come on, Missimon, don't fall behind. Come on Ben, let's go, no time to waste, no siree, let's get moving." Puroromon insisted, already setting out so Missimon didn't get the chance to get started. Ben smirked, amused at the back and forth between them as he picked up his backpack and slung it over his shoulder. Missimon, on the other hand, swung his arms down as if he was stomping his foot that he didn't have and grudgingly began to follow Puroromon and Ben.

Not a long ways off, after walking for about 3 minutes they approached the center of the village. It looked as though they were the last to get there with several other digimon AND humans already gathered and waiting.

"Well, looks like you're not the only one, Ben." Puroromon said. Ben nodded and looked over the other people there.

"I don't recognize any of them, they must not be from my school." he said simply. His eyes turned to Missimon who, oddly enough, wasn't flying around them and seeing who would play and who wouldn't.

"What about you? I'm surprised that you're not all over them." Ben asked the metal digimon, though Missimon just cast a glance over at him.

"I have a bit of a headache right now, I think I'll just hang back and let Puroromon deal with them." Missimon answers. Puroromon just smirked.

"Suit yourself. Let's see what's going on here." Ben and Puroromon said together.

Calumon hopped over in front of the growing group of humans. 7 big humans and 8 Digimon. That seemed right to him. Now all that Calumon had to do was...

Aw nuts Calumon thought, I don't remember what I was meant to do! Calumon tried to think his hardest about what to do. I had to help them get here, get them all together and then I had to... do something for them? Tell them something? I don't remember!

"Calumon, buddy," a gruff voice said, "Don't tell me you forgot what you were meant to be doing."

Calumon turned to see Elecmon walking towards them, with a box tied to his back. Elecmon and Calumon worked together in the nursery, and both were involved in helping the new heroes get to the Digital World.

"We're meant to be giving them the gizmos, remember, like we were told to?"

Ten lightbulbs could have lit above Calumon's head at that point as he rushed to the box on Elecmon's back and pulled out devices, one by one, of different colours, some different shapes and sizes and began giving them to each of the humans here.

"These are called 'Digivices', and they're here to help you on your quest, the reason you've been summoned here, y'know." Elecmon explained to the group as they all examined them in detail, with the occasional nosy Digimon also looking with them. "Now, they do a bunch of things each, no matter which one you got, but what's cool is that each one of them has a special ability, one that no other one will have. What they are, I ain't got much of a clue, since I'm pretty sure only you guys can use those things, so you'll just have to discover those powers yourselves."

Jay looked at the white device in his hands. He had no idea how to use it, and Elecmon was being vague about it all, but the two of them, both of these Digimon gave an impression of only being half informed about what they were meant to be doing. But they still knew more than Jay felt he did, so a quick question won't hurt them.

"Hey, you mentioned a quest, what's that all about?" Jay asked them.

Calumon's ears folded in to him, "We... don't know. We don't know much about what's going. They didn't tell us much, only to bring you here, give you guys those..." and then Calumon, once again, lit up with enough energy to power a house as he remembered another forgotten detail, "and you guys got to go to Ash Village to know the rest!"

"Yeah," Elecmon said, "Ash Village is where you guys can get filled in. Me and Calumon have our hands full enough as it is, so you guys are just gonna have to go there yourselves." He then slowly walked to one direction and pointed forward. "Ash Village is that-a-way, you can't miss it so long as you don't be stupid and walk in the opposite direction."

The group all joined Elecmon, coming near the red and blue monster. Just as soon as they did, he hopped away, back towards Calumon "Listen, we're busy, I'm sure you can all find your way, and maybe some of the Digimon your with have their bearings, I don't know, kind of in a rush."

Despite the strange occurrence of summoning and guiding humans in this world, Elecmon seemed way more focused in his job. Calumon seemed quite a bit more interested and waved to everyone.

"Bye! Hope you guys stay safe!" Calumon cried out as the group left, "Don't talk to any funny looking Digimon on the way!"

Jay walked with the rest of the group, and wondered if anyone else felt as confused as he did that he was rushed out of a nursery to go to somewhere called "Ash Village" by some weird monster. Tokomon seemed kind of used to it, but he did already know Elecmon and was totally aware about how seriously Elecmon took taking care of the nursery and how he put it before himself and others continuously. The humans being summoned and informed about their quest was just another disturbance to his daily routine, in Elecmon's eyes.

Brad looked onto the group that had gathered in the center of town, then down to this device the small white creature had handed him, it was purple and crimson, with a large gold V just above the screen. It seemed larger then most of the other devices that the other humans had, did this have something to do with the powers that Calumon and Elecmon talked about? What was this quest that they... It was all so much to take in at once, it made Brad's head spin.

Zero looked over at Brad's confused look then down to the digivice, a look of wonder in his eyes.

"Its been a long time since ive seen that thing." he cheered.

"So, you said you where born to be my partner right Zero? Does that mean this thing is ment for me too?"

"Yep! We have always been meant to be partners!" He exclaimed in joy. The excited pup's partner smiled as he looked back at the device, it was inert, and from the looks of it, all the other ones where as well.

"Hey Z, has this thing always been like this?" Brad asked, shaking the purple device near his ear to hear if it was busted, which it did not sound like it.

"Yea, it has always had that blank screen, I dont know why, but im sure we can make it work sometime."

"Yea, thats a good thought, now comeon, we got to me the others dont we?"

"Hey everyone, Im Brad, and this is Zero, Anyone have any thoughts on why we are here?" Brad asked the group, who all where looking at there digivices.

'hope they dont mind me being so forward...'

Pete cast his eyes around the group briefly, taking in every detail he could. One member of their little party even had two Digimon. Two! In many ways Pete didn't envy him, after all if they were anything like Minomon the guy had his work cut out for him.

As if reading his thoughts Minomon chose that moment to gain Pete's attention gently pulling at his hair.

"So Pete, figured out what it does yet?" asked the tiny Digimon.

"Not a clue. I don't know why you think I'd know anything. You're the digital being here."

"Yeah well, I've only ever seen it once before and even then I'm not exactly a technical expert. I couldn't tell you how it worked."

The Object in question was mostly rectangular with a flat top and curving at the bottom. It was a bright yellow colour except for the base which has a black handgrip. The screen near the top was framed by a gold hexagon shape. The device was also completely inert. Pete had no idea if the thing was even on.

"Oh well, I guess we'll have plenty of time to figure it out on the way to Ash Village. Wherever it is."

It was then that one of the group spoke up, the guy Pete had originally seen complete with the purple canine Digimon on his shoulder.

"Hey everyone, I'm Brad, and this is Zero, Anyone have any thoughts on why we are here?"

The guy looked nervous about speaking up. Pete couldn't really blame him. After all he wasn't so good with strangers either. As it was, he took it upon himself to answer. Maybe all he needed to relax was a friendly face.

"Well the way I see it we're here for a reason right? After all we've all got partners and these.... things," he said gesturing to his inert Digivice. "Maybe we should just go to this Ash Village place. After all, it's better than just sitting here right?"

He gave Brad what he hoped was his best reassuring smile.

"I'm Richard, and this is Tsunomon" he said, seemingly not paying much attention to the group. Instead, he just kept playing around with the Digivice he'd been given, though he din't seem to be able to do much with it. Tsunomon for his part ignored most of the assembled people, taking more interest in looking as annoyed as possible.

Finally having pressed every button on the Digivice that he could see three times in a row, finally just pocketed it, confused about the purpose of the seemingly inert devices.

Hearing vague snatches of the other people talking with their partners, Richard couldn't help notice how much the Digimon seemed to be happy that they were going on this "quest".

What does he hate so much about this? he thought, staring at the bouncing ball radiating dark thoughts. Would asking be too much? We did just meet after all. He thought, burying meekness down with that rational excuse.

Puroromon and Ben approached the gathering of other people and digimon, with Missimon bringing up the rear and keeping a little distance back. However, it seemed they'd shown up a little late; by the time Ben and Puroromon got within earshot of the other humans and Calumon, he was done speaking and had already handed out the devices to all the other children, save Ben.

However, that changed soon enough as the white digimon floated over with a cheery look holding a digivice in its tiny hands, getting close enough to Ben and giving it a toss.

"Here you go! One for you too!" said Calumon before turning back around to where he came from. Ben caught the device and gave it a look over with an expression of puzzlement.

"Great, one for me too. And what is it?" He asked, making Puroromon look up.

"Digivice." he said flatly and then looked back towards the rest of the group.

"And it does?" asked Ben. This time Puroromon didn't even look up.

"Beats me. I suppose you'll have to figure it out." he told Ben, which wasn't exactly what he was looking for. Still though, it was probably important so he held on to it.

"I'll tinker with it a bit later, see if I can make it work. So what's he going on about now?" Ben asked, paying attention to the small white digimon again, but as soon as he did Calumon started waving goodbye to all of them and everyone else started moving off.

"I think we're getting left behind. Come on." Ben told the two other digimon, stuffing the digivice in his pocket and jogging to catch up with everyone else. Puroromon beat his wings into a flutter and took off from the ground, and with Missimon they floated along with Ben.

They caught up soon enough, listening to everyone else talking amongst themselves. Mostly introductions at this point. Brad, Zero. Zeromon? He didn't catch all of it so he didn't know. Pete and Minomon, Richard and Tsunomon, the rest had yet to speak up, and Ben wasn't about to be the next.

"Aren't you going to go over and say 'Hi'?" asked Missimon, the rocket digimon scooting up to look at Ben. Ben just gave a shrug at that.

"Wasn't planning on it. I don't really have anything to say to them." he answered simply and kept walking.

"You could at least say Hi. We're all together, it would probably be good to get to know each other, don't you think?" Missimon asked again, though it didn't seem to be sinking in to Ben.

"Nah. I'm not much of the social type, if you hadn't guessed. I'm sure I'll figure out who they are and they'll figure me out too. Or not, I don't think it matters that much. I'd rather just get where we're going." he explained. Missimon drooped a bit, hanging his arms down, though Puroromon looked pleased.

"A human after my own digicore. I knew I liked you for a reason." the bee said, continuing to float lazily along in the air.

Jay joined in with the introductions. "My name is Jay, Jay Asher. This little fella with me is Tokomon."

Tokomon kicked him with his stubby little leg. It was not unlike being gently prodded by someone. "I can introduce myself, you know. I'm not as big as you, but I'm sure they can hear me." Tokomon said peeved.

Jay took a mental note of how hostile Tokomon seemed to turn and how quickly it was. He seemed to want to be in control of the both of them, but Jay dismissed that thought. It was only one time. Maybe Tokomon just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or what ever the little guy slept on.

"Sorry." Jay replied meekly.

Tokomon didn't respond to this and simply kept on walking as all the others did. He knew he had to be partners with this person, but as far as Patamon was concerned, there was absolutely no need in anything in their partnership other than the knowledge that they have to work together. No need for them getting close. That'd just slow Tokomon down or make him him hesitate in times where he really shouldn't. He needed to be totally focused on the job at hand and becoming more than just partners with Jay would get in the way. Besides, he didn't strike Tokomon as being much of a fighter, not even an aggressive person, so what benefits would there even be if they became close? None, he'd get in Tokomon's way.

All Jay could do was sigh at Tokomon's lack of response. He could feel the awkward tension climbing between them the longer the silence went on. "So, how long have you been around here Tokomon?" He asked, trying to alleviate the uncomfortable atmosphere.

"Much longer than you, that's for sure." Tokomon replied and made sure to make his next words loud and said them with snide, "I mean, you still look scared to death, just like when I first saw you."

Tokomon's response only seemed to have made things even more awkward for Jay, as he felt himself blush at Tokomon's loud declaration. Jay put his hands in his pockets and looked to the floor to hide his reddening face.

Brad looked over as Jay and Tokomon where talking, well, it was more Tokomon bickering at Jay while Jay stood there and took it.

"Hey Zero, is he always like this?" Brad asked, pointing at the fat little pink monster.

"Yea, that is Tokomon, i told you about him remember? He is always kinda a jerk." Zero responded.

"Unbelievable... He is his partner, he does not need to be treating him like this..." Brad said, loud enough for Tokomon to hear him, he wanted him to know he disapproved of his treatment of the shy little Jay.

Tokomon scoffed at the judgements of one of the other humans, Brad, and answered back, "At least I'm not making judgements on others about things that are none of my business."

As kind as Brad's words were, Jay felt all the more embarrassed. He barely knew him and he was defending him from Tokomon's treatment of him? It felt weird and made Jay feel more than a little bit uncomfortable. He wanted to say something now, get his voice out, but the more he thought about it, the more he couldn't find anything to say. Jay just stayed silent, letting Tokomon do the talking.

Most of the group seemed silent, perhaps they where thinking of what was happening? It is all a little much to take in, truth be told. Strange creatures and destiny? Brad hated that word more then anything, His father talked all the time about how it was his destiny to be rich and whatnot, its such a pretty little word that people to use to justify there actions.

Whatever, it was nothing to worry himself over now, now it was time to move on and go to this Ash Town the little white one spoke of.

Without a word, Brad started walking to the village, the others following him, figuring it was time to move on as well.

"Hey Brad, be careful ok? there has been a few robberies around here lately, word is the digimon doing it is getting more and more violent." Zero whispered into Brad's ear, so not to worry the others.

"Ill keep that in mind..." Brad said, wishing he brought a knife or something with him.

----------------------------------------------------------

Out in a tree in the middle of the road, a loan digimon sat there, ready to jump out and take anything of value the little in training digimon had brought with them to Ash village, he can sell the crap they have for a pretty penny, he thought as he clinched his rock fist. As of late though, he had been killing the digimon to steal not only there items, but there data, only taking just enough to where they wont have a permanent deletion, but just enough to get him closer and closer to digivolving, he he was to survive in this world, he would have to be more then just a tiny rookie digimon.

Jay walked behind Brad, who seemed to have taken point for the group. Tokomon was close at hand, and was visibly not pleased. Jay had no idea if it was him or Brad, but it was clear he was not a happy bunny.

"I hate this place." Tokomon whispered to Jay. "Some Digimon got robbed here. Might get mugged. Having humans around with me."

Jay once again felt awkward, as if Tokomon despised him. Jay didn't hate Tokomon, but what could he do?

"I won't let anyone touch you, I'm like 2 times the size of anything I've seen so far." Jay told Tokomon.

Tokomon snorted, "Yeah, and you're half the size of some of the Digimon I've seen."

That sentence alone made Jay flinch a little in terror.
