Disappointing games.

So a bit over a week ago I picked up Ghost Recon: Future Solider to play with some friends. The game looked promising, I've always preferred 3rd over 1st person and being a more team based game I thought I'd at least enjoy a majority of the time spent playing. Then the game came in the mail and I put it, right from the start I had problems in that I couldn't connect to my friend because apparently we had different DLC - What DLC? - we got a third friend in, connected and began to play. Well no we didn't because we couldn't actually all get into a game. At least one, if not all of us would get the message 'connection to server lost" which is a pretty strange message considering the game runs off p2p networking. This game has reminded me so much of Gears of War 2, with it's horrible menu system, lack of search options and just crap matchmaking. When we finally do get to play, the only way to describe the rooms we get into is "united nations" as there are people from all over the world playing in a single game because of course there is no local search function - a pretty standard feature in 2012.

From what I've played of it Ghost Recon is NOT an inherently bad game, it's just let down by a menu system from 2007 and a matchmaking system that was surpassed in 2006 by Gears of War. I wish Ubisoft would fix this because I'd like to play and enjoy it with my friends, but as it currently stands, the game won't allow me to. So to add discussion value what games have disappointed you and why, also if you've played GRFS give me your thoughts on the game.

Darksiders and Space Marine. Insufferable waste of $90 ( they were a bundle).

Also, and I'll just leave this here.

Dear Bethesda. Fire the guy who decided that the UI for Skyrim was "good enough".

Hands down, Dragon Age II.

Recycled dungeons, annoying party members(besides Aveline), and worst of all snore inducing narrative.

The only improvement on the first game was the combat in my opinion,

I know Dragon Age:Origins was very cliche in it's setting but at least it told it's story well.

I was greatly disappointed by Dawn of War 2, almost solely because of the lack of base building. Then Relic released several thousand DLC packs for skins. Thankfully I didn't pick the game up at full price. That would've been awful.

I still play DoW1 and I haven't touched 2 in a long time. I could give C&C4 the same criticism but that would be comparing a mediocre game (DoW2) with an utterly abysmal steaming puddle of arse-gravy (C&C4).

Diablo 3 was, by and large, the biggest disappointment since Duke Nukem Forever. And that's only because I don't think DNF can be beaten.

well this is going to go well....

Saints row 3 probably, not because I think its awful but compared to my expectations it doenst stack up

compared to Revelations which was at around the same level I expected..I still maintain its better than Brotherhood

I got Rage a while back, and that had a ridiculously abrupt ending. There were two different maps, and in total I spent about seven to eight hours on it, if that.

BRINK - Was excited as hell for this game, couldn't have foreseen the stupid amount of gamebreaking technical issues, especially since they decided on a "early release". What a goddamned joke that was.

When the game wasn't falling apart, I had a reasonable amount of fun. But it was overall insanely disappointing given how excited I was.

Dragon Age 2:

Dead Space 2 - Disappointing, in terms of horror. Sure, the first game wasn't the scariest out there. But I still thought it was well done. It had a few good scares, lots of creepiness and was and very atmospheric. Being onboard the Ishimura was genuinely unpleasant.

Dead Space 2 came along and pretty much fucked off with the horror. Isaac now had a voice, and was a dipshit, the 'horror' turned into a parody of itself and would literally make me laugh out loud at the alleged "scary" parts. The game was so un-scary that instead of making me shit a brick, a brick dislodged itself from my wall and flew up my ass while playing it.

Age of Conan - Back then when I had gotten burned out on WoW, I wanted an alternative and new MMO. From the looks of it, it offered an MMO with a more mature fantasy atmosphere and more visceral combat. I wanted it really bad, pre-ordered it and got into early access.

It started off promising, but as soon as you leave tutorial island, the shitfest begins in full effect. Bugs everywhere, constantly clipping into the environment, awful community full of griefers and non-stop trolling over general chat, disgraceful balance between classes which made PvP a nightmare.

Really? I enjoyed both - Darksiders was, imho, a fun Zelda-wannabe and Space Marine (though it really could've used bots for the multiplayer) was a solid-enough shooter.

'Course, I picked up Darksiders for $20 on XBLA, and got Space Marine on sale on Steam, so that might put me in a position to be a bit more charitable.

Back to the topic, I was really disappointed in Force Unleashed 2. I'd thought the first game was a good start on a new franchise, but 2 just hurt. Given some more time (and/or better leadership/vision) that could've been an awesome game.

Duke Nukem Forever
I was hoping for a fun 90,s style FPS with some duke style humor
what I got was COD trying to be Duke with a few fun jokes (although I hate the Leeroy Jenkins one allot)

Diablo 3. It was just... isometric WoW. It was nowhere as good as the first two ones. I want my money back.

Fallout: New Vegas

The game just doesn't compare to the complete awe I felt when I stepped out of the vault in F3 for the first time.

It's in no definition a bad game, but it was extremely underwhelming.

Saints Row: The Third. All they did was take out gameplay and add in useless gimmicks. Saints Row 2 is better in almost every way.

Oh, it's one of those hundreds of "whine about something" -threads. Just what the forums need more of.

Well, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is pure crap.
