So there's this upcoming game called Dishonored in which you're a supernatural assassin. It's first person, and to me sounds pretty good. What do my fellow Escapists think? Here's a link, have a look: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/dishonored.aspx

EDIT:

I didn't actually mean to suggest it was a clone of Deus Ex. So what are your first impressions of this game? What would you like to see? A full game Dark Brotherhood-style with technology and magic sounds fantastic, I think!

Can we first see actual gameplay footage before labeling it as a clone... (Not that there is anything wrong with being a Deus Ex clone).

And to answer your question, Yes. I'm very interested in Dishonored.

It has one of the main designers from Deus Ex. There are bound to be similarities.

It was an open question, in fact, I don't think it's a Deus Ex clone :)

As for myself, I'm really looking forward to it - I still have fond memories of the Dark Brotherhood assassination missions.

Releasing a Deus Ex clone when a new one in the ACTUAL FRANCHISE just came out is a terrible idea. I highly doubt it is a clone though

How about we wait until there is more than a vague description of the plot and some screen shots before we start judging it...

Easily has the pedigree to be fantastic. Going from the few interviews with the developers and some discussions about the mechanics its got real potential.

Can't imagine it'll be out for a long while though. I can see it being one of those things that slips a lot.

It does have a release date of "2012," meaning "we hope next year..."

EDIT: Ninja'ed!

Wait we could just hire that guy who was in chagre of LA noir. Slave labour will speed development up.

This. Though I pity the dev team in advance...
Yeah, those 7 years went by really fast.

It's by Arkane Studios, developers of Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. If there's a studio out there with the talent and skills to make a game with this particular sort of gameplay and premise work you'd be hard pressed to find better.

I'm honestly really intrigued and can't wait to see more about the game. I'd been hoping for an Arx 2 but honestly, this seems even better!

Can't wait till we can start seeing some actual gameplay and the like.

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not throwing in a pre-order just yet. There's always the possibility that the story will go to shit at some point through the game, that it won't be very long, that the parkour won't work very well (as it arguably never really has), or a whole host of other things. Still, it seems like these devs have the right idea.

If they implement the movement system much the same way as Assassin's Creed's one, it should be fantastic.

It sounds like if the Thief series was to try to become not-boring.

But first impressions and reality are usually a lot different.
