I think there just needs to be something between PG and PG-13. Not a little kid movie, but not bad enough to be PG-13.

Are you to blame? Not as such, but... Disney has gone too far? srsly... with Prince Caspian? No, that's idiotic.

As for the movie rating "A cheesy sword fight can get you a PG rating", that's naive, the Movie ratings system is based on very clearly defined standards. And, honestly, how hard would it be to read a couple reviews or even ask someone else who has seen the movie about the content.

In that you are to blame, but then I would say Mom is just as culpable, for approving the movie of choice or trusting you with the decision.

I knew the film was gonna be grittier then the first (from reading the books). But I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The violence redeemed it for me. Then I'd been dragged there by my sister and her friend.

Yeah, I would say it's your bad.
I thought everyone knew the the rating system has just been getting more and more lacadazical with it's ratings. PG-13 used to mean a bit of violence and some casual curse words. Now it's fairly strong language, violence, nudity...basically everything is a rating lower then what it should be, these days.
You may be right but I don't think it's about "these days" "Jaws" was only PG in the 70's and I think we can all agree no 6 year old should watch that.

I loved Prince Caspian. Great movie. My young cousins have seen it and loved it. (Youngest is 8.) Of course, all of us had read the books first, so that might make a difference.

However, to show you how subjective ratings are, take a look at Sev Trek: Pus in Boots. John Cook, an Australian comic artist, created the Sev Trek parody of Star Trek. In its heyday of popularity, it spawned a movie from collaboration of him and his fans. It was set on the USS Enterforaprize D with Captain Pinchard, and it had numerous fight scenes, people being vaporized, people melting, limbs being severed, at least one guy getting chopped in half by a closing door, with copious amounts of blood pooling around his torso.

The rating? G.

"Oh, it's a cartoon, so it must be OK for kids." must have been their thought.

John said he even DELIBERATELY put some of that stuff in just to GET the PG rating and STILL didn't get it.

I work at a movie theater...

Yes there isn't a law specifically prohibiting anyone into a movie due to age, but there is an agreement among movie theaters to not allow people under the age of 17 into R rated movies and things like that.

I had to refuse people trying to sneak into Pineapple Express. >_>
Buckets of fun *rolls eyes*

But when you get 13 year olds trying to see a movie about pot...

You took a 6yo to a PG prince caspian...a 6yo...to a pg film. You do realise that means parental guidance? That means you should have checked BEFORE going. Disney arn't at fault here. They said its upto you, left it as your responsibility.

Personally i think this just goes to show how little responsibility people are willing to accept when it comes to policing/moderating what their kids do/see. Plus its Narnia...the books weren't exactly 6yo friendly. Why should the movie be?

On a slightly different note: How exactly can an accent be racist? It's kind of needed to portray the character species properly. They seem to be based on conquistadors (i dont remember clearly who they were descended from) but the whole spanish armour outfit seems to demand that accent.
