Disney movies that don't kill the villain

I've been noticing for some time now that despite supposedly being a family oriented company Disney seems to have no problem with having the villains die at the end of their movies as opposed to some sugary "see the light" or simply lock them away ending. In fact, I'm pretty hard pressed to remember one that didn't kill the villain. The last one I can remember was Aladdin but I hear that got rectified in the sequel (never actually saw it). Can anyone else think of one or have thoughts on this?

I remember the Hunchback on Notre Dame sequel's villain was arrested at the end of the movie. That's all I can think of at the top of my head.

BTW, welcome to the Escapist!

I don't think Edgar in Aristocats died......And I don't watch newer movies (I'm almost 18 and I feel that they are too childish to spend money on, That might get changed some day but not today)

I remember Quasimodo kicks that magician into that giant pit of fire. But maybe he didn't die, I honestly don't remember.

Also a fun fact, in the original story the girl die, Quasimodo does nothing to save her and at the end of the book he digs up her grave and cuddles next to her until he dies.

Well, the basic idea, I guess is to convince the young audience that the villain gets punished. Kids have the kind of imagination that allows them to visualize a villain escaping and doing some more damage if not killed.

That, and the fact that villains in Disney are purposefully dehumanized so that their acts may be condemnable.

Besides Aladdin, I can't think of a villain who survives. Oh, and don't mention the sequel, that was actually shit. :)

I'll ask my girlfriend and get back to you, she's really into Disney, a nostalgia thing as she's 20 soon. Still, she'll know

What about Cinderella? As I recall the ***** sisters and mom just kind of get left at the end to be miserable.

Disney has a lot of dark themes actually. How many kids' parents haven't died (either before or during the movies)?

Well, that's interesting to know.

Although I guess it shouldn't be surprising. The Little Mermaid's original story also ended in tragedy.

Seriously Disney stories have really depressing source material.

a lot more I can't think of.
Point is, movies where the villain survives are there, you're just looking in the wrong places.

I'm mainly going by the more recent ones I've seen such as Tangled and The Princess and The Frog. It was actually both of these movies that brought the question to my mind.

Prince John in Disney's Robin Hood survived.

Good thing, too, because I loved that thumbsucker.

I knew The Little Mermaid had a sad ending with her turning into foam and all, but I never knew about that whole "tail splitting" business.

Christ, that's fucked up!
