I think we're pretty much at the same stage then (weirdly). Emergency dentist has given me some anti-biotics but they'll take a few days and tomorrow I'll be going to normal dentist in the hope she can do...well...anything!

Hope you get rid of it soon too

And teeth/gums suck! I've had problems with mine for ages but they couldn't treat me for 9 months coz I was pregnant and now I'm not anymore the buggers got infected so I can't get treated!
Behind labour I'd say toothache is probably one of the worst pains ever... and being kicked in the nuts for guys I guess x

That makes the list Labour, anything to do with Testicles and (in some quarters) appendicitis.

there is one way however you are going to have to torturer yourself.

It is possible to try and keep yourself awake as long as can stay awake, essentially don't sleep until you pass out.
once you get too tired you will never notice the pain, in fact you will never notice that you fell asleep until you wake up.

I've done this once in your situation but I would only recommend this if you have nothing to do for 2 days and keep soical contact to a minuim

I see your infection and raise you Testicular Tortion. Nothing is as embrassing as explaining you had surgery because one of your balls was trying to choke itself.

Anything that involves testicles and pain instantly trumps my infection, this I have no issue with.

I really feel for you mate, i had the same thing. The infection was above my front tooth and pushed it out of its 'socket' about 5mm. The had to drill a hole to drain the puss out.. it was the most painful experience of my life.

The oddest part of that is that it sounds equally one of the worst ideas I've ever heard and yet, at the same time, I'm considering going to find a Black & Decker and doing it myself...

Right now I just came back from the hospital having suffered third degree burns on my forearms and elbows.
It was my own stupid fault but I'm glad you started this thread.

Yeah servere pain is never fun. I had a pilonoidal sinus the size of a tennis ball (basically an abcess) at the bottom of my back. The only thing that worked for me was morphine at the hospital. But as i doubt u have access to morphine or any other percription drugs, I'd suggest a book. One you really like, or havent read before, and let urself fall right into the book. Escapism of any sort failing that.

Weed has never helped relieve pain for me personally, but everyones different.


Anyway, hope u get it sorted and get well soon.

If you can man up through an abcess then you have my respect. I also think it's impossible.


For anyone who is wondering, I've just got back from the dentist where she confirmed the abcess has spread to affecting 3 teeth, though only one needs a root canal. I've been drilled and (partially) drained as too much to go in one session and now sitting here in utter bastard agony again.

Also, the injection into the abcess before hand was the single most painful experience of my life. That includes appendicitis, tearing both my ankles and wrists numerous times, a broken bone AND an operation on my junk. Oh yes.
