I liked the move. But the main character pissed me off. He fucked up the first escape attempt and really hurt that guy.
Still, the name Witcus just redeems everything

Given the options: go to the mothership and get cured or get dissected by your own species, Wikus wisely decides to knock out Christopher, pilot the aircraft, destroying it and any real hope of curing himself. Fucking idiot.
Because he'd be stuck on an alien craft for three years and on their planet for however long before getting back to Earth with the chance that they want to extinguish the human menace. Not to mention that that said alien race would probably treat him the same way we have them, even the dissections.
He wanted to be cured within the same day, but being forced to wait three years before being able to return is a bit much which brought on his Irrational Moment... and the man was clearly traumatized. I don't think anyone could act rational after going through what he did and just wanting everything to return to normal -- no strings attached.
Besides, the anti-aircraft missiles would have done the same regardless of who piloted it.
The idiot ball moment was when Wikus retreated from Colonel Koobus Venter while he commanded the giant exo-suit, but he redeemed himself shortly after... so not much to complain there.
Hmmm, that might be. It just looked like a forcefield to me though.Mr. Grey said:Xaryn Mar said:The Idiot Ball moment is that he doesn't use the forcefield that the exosuit has used just seconds before he entered it.Mr. Grey said:No, he had the Irrational Moment.Mr Montmorency said:The main character has the idiot ball. Hardly the fault of a guy that doesn't know how it works. That's more ignorance than idiocy.
Unless it synced up with him the knowledge of it, but I have no idea if that actually happened and even if it did, the forcefield would have been constant even after he entered it with a small window of said entrance. Unless it powers down and resets after every pilot's entrance, which is a stupid design - considering it was activated to save his hide in a time of crisis - and no wonder those poor bastards got stranded.
I don't think it had a forcefield, though, I think you're talking about the gravity gun that can fling a pig at somebody or collect mass amounts of gunfire and shotgun it back.
It can act as one so I think we're both right here.Xaryn Mar said:Hmmm, that might be.
