District 10, Christopher's back and he's pissed.

Seriously though I'm neutral on a sequel, could ruin the movie for me, or it could be amazing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down, pal. District 9 was one intense movie, and I really liked it, but it doesn't even compare to Inception. Inception was by far the most "thinky action" movie in years. D9 had some interesting social commentary, but you really can't call it "better" than Inception.

Well, I just finished watching this movie for the first time, and I gotta say.. It was one hell of a ride. I didn't expect the journey onto the mothership to fail as horribly as it did for the main character, but I gotta say.. His last stand was pretty damn badass. However, despite this, I can only wonder what will happen next. Will there be a sequel? I mean, Chris escaped to presumably return to his homeworld in order to recruit helpers, but does that mean he will come back, wage war, and grab the main character to return him to his human-state? I must say, I very much enjoyed this film, and I do hope that they make a sequel.

Discussion: What did my fellow Escapists think about District 9?
Did you know Wikus, the main character, didn't have a written line in the whole script of the movie. He ad-libbed the whole thing. It was the Director's idea for him to ad-lib the whole movie so it would seem more natural.

No, no, no. If it was a crappy sequel it would be: Wikus is back and he's packing heat
Any movie with a trailer along those lines is going to suck. No exceptions.

Shit, that was a typo. I meant "almost as good". Should really edit that...

But yeah, Inception was fucking amazing. Amirite?

It was a good movie. It stands out mainly due to all the crap cliches Hollywood movies have been over the last 10 years. Its been a poor decade for movies, and something like this, which delivered a unique take on the aliens come to earth story, made it stand out.

Coupled with the fact that the protagonist was actually a *person*, ya know, an every-day human being, rather than some untouchable personality-devoid douchebag (see Chronicles of Riddick), made it even more stark to what we usually expect.

On top of this, the story had a good moral tale to tell, and represented one of the most realistic scenarios of its setting. Corporations and greedy companies *would* go to those extreme lengths (see Real Life TM) to produce goods that make them #1.

Human beings as well would treat aliens as scum if they didnt scare us or take us over.

One of the all-time greats? No. No because as i said before - it's been a poor decade for movies full stop. But it does make it a good movie, one which is above 80% of all the crud Hollywood pumps out.

I loved it. At the time of seeing it, I really wasn't all that into sci-fi and aliens and whatnot, but I thought it was great. I like how they filmed it almost documentary-style, and threw in some comedic touches too.

*whispers* IlikeditbetterthanInceptionPLEASEDON'TKILLME D: D: D:

..Well, I enjoyed it more than Inception. But that was still a good movie.

I hope there's going to be a sequel. Called District 10. (If it's District 9 2, that would just get confusing).

Anyways, one of my top rated films. EVAH.
I actually think that the next movie is going to be called district 10.
