Soundtrack interests, however I would not dish out 100+ dollars for the game and peripheral.

This is a summary of my feelings.

Wanna complain about milking a series? End the production of FIFA, Madden, NHL, NBA, NCAA, and all those other sports games before even thinking about bashing the "Hero" franchise.
The "Hero" franchise is becoming oversaturated much faster than the sports one. Every year we get a few games based on Madden, FIFA, etc. It's almost like clockwork, gears in perfect tune. Meanwhile, for Rock Band's three console games (something like six in all with DS and mobile games), the "Hero" series has seen nine console releases (about eighteen in all). At least the sports franchises are consistent.

no i dont care. it may be because i despise rap but i like to think im not interested because it just seems like a shameless attempt to exploit a dieing series.

the reviews rate it higher than guitar hero so it must be a relatively decent game
not another activision money grabbing attempt that everyone was expecting

I don't care for it, in fact, I think it's a good example of how far we've gone with this whole trend.

It actually looks good. I like that sort of music. I bet I'd suck at it though :D

And some people probably don't care for DJ hero. Everyone has different tastes.

It's way too expensive for a plastic DJ thing and a game. But that's activion for ya. They charge £45 for Modern Warfare 2 which is an even more dumbed down re-skin of COD4 which was an extremely dumbed down re-skin of COD2.

Ehh, the music doesn't really do anything for me, and the biggest appeal of guitar hero and the like was the music. I think i'll give it a miss.

I think the real "pulling factor" behind this game will be the fact that there was an entire chunk of society who missed out on the GH and RB Series, simply because they didn't much like the music. This will be aimed at those people, I think.

It's just a shame you look like a spastic monkey when you're playing it.

I don't see the fun in this game, and that's coming from somebody who loves both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I like dance, house, and other forms of sampled music, but the tracks in that demo are all crappy remixes of good songs. I also don't see the challenge -- it looks like there are three tracks and even on expert they are quite simple.

The thing that makes games like Rock Band exciting is that they feel a lot like the real deal. Sure, it's not really guitar, but it's no different than how I'd play air guitar, and that's close enough to feel good. The singing is as real as it gets and the drums are quite close (just fewer drums). All in all, you feel like you're really the star playing some epic solo.

But DJing isn't just pressing a couple of buttons in time to the music. If you had to pick out tracks, beat match, and crossfade, I could understand, but simply pressing buttons in time to the music feels like a three-finger version of Dance Dance Revolution. The only thing I could see remotely satisfying is scratching the record back and forth, but that's not a major part of most dance music. Scratching is to DJing what heavy power chords are to rock: they add flavor to the music, but there's a lot more that goes into playing the music. DJ Hero just doesn't seem to be close enough to really capture that feeling, and the choice of music seems to emphasize that.

A good dance song is more than just scratching a record over top of a classic 80s song and DJing is more than just pressing a few buttons and scratching a record. Without something a little more complicated and a little closer to the real deal, I just can't see the appeal of this game.

Consistence means nothing. It's still milking the franchise.

Sadly, people will continue to buy the new games which means that the companies will still produce them. There really is no way around it.

I'd be lying if i said i cared. But it'll probably sell more than the bible and activision will milk it till it's a dry and shrivelled husk.

No. If I want to play DJ I'll use my roommate's actual equipment. For slightly more than the price people are probably going to pay for this, I bet you could go out and buy yourself a real DJ controller.
