I don't like the setlist :(
No Oakenfold, no Van Dyk, no Crystal Method, no Fatboy Slim...

I honestly thought DJ Hero was a joke until fairly recently - I can't imagine a universe where this is something I cared about beyond laughing at people playing it. But then I'm still befuddled that pretending to be a rock god by playing a squeaky Fisher Price guitar in mixed company is regarded as cool (instead of incredibly ridiculous), so take this as uninformed hate speech that it is.

You still look ridiculous though.

Be alot more fun looking if it was faster imo. But i think that just reflects my music style. Still it looks good, i liek the gameplay machanic where you have to switch sides with the crossfader.

It's going to fail, and I'm going to laugh.

There's no cooperative aspect to it (unless you play with a guitar, which would seem to require that you'd bought the previous games) which pretty much eliminates the "party game" aspect that made the previous games so popular.

The club-going scene aren't really much into games. They're too busy dressing like idiots, taking drugs that cause you to die of malignant hyperthermia, and waving glowsticks around.

Guitar players are impressive, talented people who create music. DJ's are douchebags who, at best, use other people's music to entertain people. At worst, they're morons who screw up perfectly good songs.

I think Activision realizes that buying the Guitar Hero name was a short-term deal. The people who actually made the game what it was have moved on and are now handing Activision's ass to them in the form of Rock Band. They realize they can no longer compete, so they thought this interesting little experiment up. I appreciate them trying to think outside the box. What I do not appreciate is the fact that their copycat mentality has rendered them completely incapable of actually doing so.

I hate rap, dance, club and hip-hop with a burning passion.

So I hope this game goes and burns itself in a fire for tainting the name of my favourite mainstream rythm game. Atleast Rock Band has yet to sell out........

Also another thing that totally pissed me off, loosely related to DJ Hero.

I was watching a YouTube video and it stopped halfway through at cut to some stupid DJ Hero advert blaring "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani. Side Note: I think Hollaback Girl is about as much fun to listen to as choking myself.

That intrusion of my YouTube space alone makes me want to burn every copy of DJ Hero, couple that with an annoying as fuck soundtrack and you have a game that's doing nothing more than putting fuel on the fire for my hatred of the music genres listed above.

in my opinion, this is just a way for red octane to try and outdo rock band. i prefer rock band and think guitar hero is pretty much gone, but it was good for its time. the music in dj hero is also not my type. those who want to play, enjoy, but i will not buy this game.

It looks cool, but there's no way I could justify the cost...Gamespot says it's way too expensive, but otherwise really really good.
You know i'm not sure of the cost, but since so many people have bought that up, it must be pretty steep. Can anyone give me a figure?

Just a personal gripe in the song choice, but... *ahem* Why the fuck would you want to ruin a David Bowie song?!

That out of the way, I'm not really too sure until I see live gameplay footage. That is to say, I want to see how the control works before I even consider it. I mean, with guitars and drums it's pretty self-explanitory, but turntables? How's that meant to work?

*waches vid about the controller*

Okay, that's fine and dandy, but still doesn't look all that compelling. I may give it a try at some stage whenever I get a chance.

It doesn't look bad. I think that it misses on the 'epic' factor, though. When I play GH I get to feel like a freakin' rock star, awww-yeeeaahhh. I really don't find the idea of feeling like a guy in baggy pants, scratching up grandma's vinyls, a very appealing concept.

it's about $110 for the game and controller. I don't think that's an unreasonable price; I paid $100 for the original GH a couple years ago, and this has about 100% more licensed music.

I'd like to pick up this game, but I haven't been able to justify picking up the game disc only for any of the GH or RB games, so I think this one will be a pass. It's unfortunate; I really like Daft Punk, and I don't really mind Gwen Stefani.

On another note, I wonder if you have to play a crappy story mode in order to unlock all of the good tracks. I don't want to be stuck playing crap I don't like until I get a feel for the controller just because the game designers think it's a fairly "easy" song. I'm looking at you, "more than a feeling."

It would have bought it so I could play it at parties and such.

HOWEVER. Because of the constant unskippable and irrtating ads on youtube of it I have sworn that I shall never buy this game ever.

when i first heard about it... i thought "finally, GH might have some music i like" (i dont like rock music, which im my books, includes all your screamo and metal drool)

now... hearing some of the music... its worse than GH...
at least on GH i can create my own oddities...
and at least GH has the odd few really strange songs i actually kinda like...

so... im not really interested... but i am bored... if i have £90 to waste... id consider it for the challenge.

I've played the demo at stores and while I'm tempted by the good music, I'm too broke to spend more money on more music game peripherals. Not while the Guitar Hero controller's gathering dust *wipes it off and plays a bit*
