I'll tell you what has to stop... Dragon Age reminding me every five minutes in every possible way that there's DLC to be had.

Really leaves a sour taste when you talk to an NPC and the DLC option is part of the convo.

The reason for the people being upset with Left 4 Dead 2 was not because the game wasn't up to par, it was because Valve promised to support the game like TF2. Instead they put out a sequel which annoyed me personally because if I bought it on that promise, here TF2 still gets support and L4D is pretty ignored.

Not a big deal though, I got my fun out of L4D, but I've no plans on getting the sequel.

well, in a few months there will be downlodable content that adds them into L4D2, so if you did buy it, you can still play as your favourite characters, if you get DLC.

I heard that, but isn't that just for one campaign? If it is for the whole thing, I would feel compelled to buy it, but I don't like the addition of MORE shit to block your screen(see Boomer bile from L4D plus gore in L4D2).

i'm not really sure, but i'd assume you'd be able to use them at least in versus/survivel/scavange mode, and if not, then that'd suck. and yes, the gore does get in the way, but you notice it most with melee weapons.

i think near enough every FIFA, PGA Golf etc could just be DLC

i agre, people hate parting with their money, but for good reason; there is DLC that (to some) feels like content held back from the original release just so it can be sold as DLC.
ie an incomplete package was bought when i shelled out £45 to get what I thought to be a complete package.

I'll feel better about DLC after the market pressures on games have become so pronounced that all games are released for free and the DLC is the only way the developers can get people to pay for any them by getting them hooked on the initial games first.

We're actually pretty close to that, judging by the state of things.

This trend became popular about the time that Halo 3: ODST came out. Which was understandable, seeing as ODST (as good as it was) was not really worth the heavy price tag, especially because it had been planned to be DLC.

But soon, the trend festered, and grew.

Soon people were saying this for titles like L4D2, which to an extent was still reasonable.


But no, the masses were still unpleased. They needed to ride this wagon as long as possible.

And then I heard

SO I beg you gamers, please stop shouting this at every sequel that comes out. It is mind boggling.

Now what game could use a DLC... I say SW: Republic Commando. More missions or at least just one to figure out what happens to sev. Not really worth a 50 buck price tag unless they make a whole other game

Most of the time I don't care one way or the other for DLCs, but for Empire total war they have $3 USD DLC for a single unit. Now that is stupid Shinanigans.

I like DLC if it's reasonable. I garentee that in Mass Effect 2, there will be atleast 2 DLC packs, both of which will have weapons and maybe a single new planet and they will charge 10$ for it. That's the kind of DLC I hate due to it feels like I'm missing out but at the same time being ripped off.

If there is a game worth boycotting, its MW2. L4D2 is simply so much better than the first one, and now with the mods for the original characters and maps, there is no excuse not to buy it.
